All who wander are not lost...
Not that long...mid-April.

I cannot understand how I got mine back so quickly and others are waiting a year or so...something like that, yeah?

So, to you the second set of pics...of the OG GH....def look..well, kind of under-done? Yeah, its not just me then, eh?
I agree - it looks a bit under-done. I think your assessment is accurate to match the pics and what they represent. I'm in your corner :). Now how did you work that trick with HL to get it back so fast? There's just no rhyme or reason to their RMA process, I'm nearly convinced of that...:peace:

No trick at all. Shocked the crap out of me also. Haha

My rma's during 2018 & 19 (aka "the duldrums") have involved;

1. A SS that was purchased during the pre-order period, not registered til recently, and it's first rma was handled in a couple of weeks
2. A Ti purchased just last July, and I believe they've been making 'good faith' effort to provide me with a working Hopper, with several rma's already. Just how this affects the repair schedule at HL is not particularly even-handed, as far as I can see.
I think purchases with more than one claim, with claims spread out over a long time, may be the ones waiting the longest, i.e., Hoppers in for very first repair and Hoppers recently purchased may be getting priority.

Hi @Baron23 ,

Sorry about that, I asked Bud to send you the TiChillum I gave him

Hope your returned hopper is hot enough. The TiChillum is great with optimally performing hoppers

Warning on disassembly: You must hold it so "420EDC" is legible, then the right-sided part attaches "righty-tighty," but the left sided part is "lefty-tighty"

Cleaning is easy and unbreakable. Disassemble, drop parts in ziplock baggie, add isopropyl alcohol, then bathe it in a bowl of near boiling water. Slosh, slosh, shake that thang. Rinse very well

Wow, I was wondering why on the stream he said he was sending me a chillum. I had no idea.

Thanks you so very much! Not sure what I did to deserve it but I am looking forward to trying it with the one GH that is working fairly well.

Thanks again!!

Wow, what a surprise first thing in the morn! haha

So my grasshopper returned from repair today.

A brief history for the record:

first broke (wouldn't turn on) and was returned in feb 2018
came back late may 2018 and had a new fault - super hot backend
they said it would need a new back end but they were waiting for them to arrive
I decided to wait as the unit at least functioned despite the hot back end
was then without it for 5 months while they apparently were waiting for new backends
finally got the new backend - same super hot issue :(
sent the whole lot back to them
came back in jan this year - I ordered a new front part and mouthpiece too so I now have 2 grasshoppers figuring if one dies I have a spare.
they both work for a few weeks then both die
I sent them both back in feb and got the return today.

I opened the returned package with excitement only to realise immediately that they have not sent me the 2 front ends and 1 back end I sent them. They have returned a working grasshopper and an extra mouthpiece (which i did not send them). I have messaged them to enquire about what has happened to my $90 front piece.

Also in the box is some sort of token with $40 dollars and a code on it. It's a large metal coin of sorts. I am unsure as to what it is for, why they have given it to me or how to use it.

On a positive note i've just fired up the returned grasshopper and initial signs are encouraging - no unusual hotness, no flickering blue light, quick start up and huge clouds. Here's hoping it's reliable.

Thanks. Technically I had minor frontend issues shortly after initially receiving my pre-order Ti over three years ago so my current RMA for the whole unit is not the first one. The threads on the initial front end weren’t optimal and it would not stay screwed on. “1-3 more months” they said. I think they’re not properly logging & tracking units sent back coupled with poor parts inventory management. We’ll see...

On a bright note, visited a a few dispensaries in western MA yesterday and picked up a few new strains to add to the line up...:peace:

I'm very impressed with HopperLabs customer service. Ordered new one, received it two days later. However, the system rejected my serial number and box ID match when registering. Emailed support yesterday, got speedy reply this morning. Fixed it, they manually entered my info and registered it for me. Sure, it was an annoying glitch, but taken care of very fast. Good sign, IMO, but I fully understand this data point may be an outlier

They’ve had issues with their internal systems as I had changed the email address on my HL account, which was changed to permit me to login with the new email address, however I wasn’t getting emails from them at the new one and then a few account updates went to the old one. It took almost a week for them to correct it. Maybe their IT/web folks should be put on the front lines to combat quality control to mitigate their RMA backlog and bolster reliability of new units. Just sayin...:peace:

Does someone else is waiting over a year for their hopper in rma... If I am not getting it back very soon I will ask them to pay back my money... I was really nice to them not really stressing them but enough is enough... hopperlabs is a joke.. they have a great product when working.. but to let wait people over a year to send back there rma hopper fixed and working is a joke...

I did not want to tell my opinion... but I think they sell or give other hoppers (from rma to other people) maybe they do not have enough money for new parts ..do not know but that is a joke... that is why people are getting hoppers with scratches and dents... it is a hopper from someone other... it is speculation but I am really curious about it... I think they do not have the funds any more and are playing games to keep alive... also they take money for things like charger which never got released or exist same with batteries ... who knows if they ever ordered batteries or only are taking money from people to stay alive... I am fed up with this joke company and think hopperlabs will be very soon history... so I would think twice if I would buy something from them and give them my money...

@Baron23 I had hoppers where the abv was much darker (but maybe it is the foto or weed (also can play a role how dark abv is).. but I had also a hopper which was able to combust when on 5)

I can almost guarantee they won't give you a refund and since it's been over a year since purchase you probably won't have much recourse unfortunately. Just gonna have to keep bugging them till they make a move.

Ok, I have somewhat surprising results.

This is the AVB from the one they contacted me to ship back and which I therefore assume was actually fixed. Killed the load in 4 draws (I believe...maybe did a 5th just to make sure it was as done as possible) at temp 5. Drew until I wasn't getting anything further.

Now, not quite as good as the EVO AVB, but the EVO is a horse of a vape and is not a portable so that needs to be taken into account, I believe. But, a lot more stalks left than with the EVO.

NOTE: all of this testing was done with the same exact ground flower. LA Chocolate to be exact (wow, its really nice stuff at 28% THC). Also, all sesh's were done with a PFE in an FC-188 as I believe through glass I can really honk on a vape and get the best results possible for this type of testing.

Newer-GH-post-2nd-RMA-LA-Choc-AVB-3.jpg

Now, here is the AVB from my OG GH which they did not contact me about sending back but which appeared in the box with the other one. Vapor was distinctly weaker...actually, just call it weak. I took 7 draws on it until no vapor left and it was as done as it was going to get. I actually expected it to look worse than this.

OG-GH-post-2nd-RMA-LA-Choc-AVB.jpg

OG-GH-post-2nd-RMA-LA-Choc-AVB-2.jpg

To me, the OG GH AVB is really not as good as the one above which I believe was fixed (although I still get flickering blue lights when drawing except when set on temp 5...dunno wtf that is about).

So, guys....what do you think?

@Baron23
AVB looks acceptable but I can’t believe they find new ways to botch up a RMA. They actually send back one that wasn’t fixed? It’s like they aren’t even trying anymore. What is your verdict? Is it acceptable?

To everyone else,
I’ve been waiting over a year to send my 2 grasshoppers in but after all this time, I have lost confidence and I just want to end this ordeal. There was a member here on FC (not sure if it was this thread though) who accepts used vape donations for needy people in pain. His name escapes me but one of my grasshoppers is unregistered so if he thinks it would help someone and was willing to deal with hopper labs, I’d gladly donate it. Does this member sound familiar?

I am done with the grasshopper and their BS warranty. But I hate just throwing things away if it can be repurposed.

Nearly a whole page of positive comments and that not happened in a long time :D

Haven't had a hopper since November and it's been in Rma since end of May

Asked them 20 days ago and they gave me 30 day estimation

Still not registered being in-house :\

That is just bizarre. :hmm::hmm::hmm:
Wonders never cease with HL. I wonder if it was the original box? I labeled mine underneath and the lid too, just in case. The RMA wait is bad enough, for most except the lucky few, and you wonder wether they’ll send back the same one and if it works. Lots of finger crossing and praying. And this is my fear that it won’t work when I get it back. Hopefully I’ll find out in 1-3 months.

Safe and wonderful holiday weekend to all. :leaf::peace::peace:

5 may 2018 , and for a precise piece of metal in the backend that has broken in two parts. I did also write them I would contribute for the fix , but absolutely no , this bad things shouldn't be done , shame on me. I'm here only for curiosity , when I'm cooked I like to read this post but, like lot of people here, found good , very good sobstitudes. Honeymoon just passed with Gh , which I thought it was the best, years ago. Only thing I do miss form Gh would be in stealt , 'cause I will go to holyday abroad and lighting a Dynavap outside is not
very sane. Anyway I'll never travel abroad only with a GH , and also if they'll fix and send it me for end of July (I don't think so) it would be in good company , you all know why. The funny thing is that I got 12 batteries , 8 of them 2nd generation , lying in the drawer .

Yes, my OG GH def was hotter. I never combusted but I did like to run at about 4.1-4.2 and I kind of like hot and strong. While it didn't combust, this GH had headroom for temp and I could up it to temp 5 for the last draw just to make sure. As they came back, even the one that they seem to have intentionally shipped back to me, and which I am willing to accept because I'm just sick of dealing with them, will only perform adequately on Temp 5.

This is what I sent back to them today:

Dear Hopper – wow, this is kind of strange but let me see if I can make it clear.

I own two Ti Bronze GH, serial numbers GT001671 and GT006923.

Both of these received service once before and came back to me running unacceptably cold. Cold to the point that I would not waste my flower in them.

So, I opened two new RMA’s, #13299759 for serial number GT001671 and #63048978 for serial number GT006923, both being returned for running to cool.

I received notice to send them back with instructions on what to include. I communicated with you to see if it was acceptable to ship both GH back in a single box, specifically:

- I plan to ship both GH’s back in a single box to save shipping costs. I will individually pack each GH in its own bag within this box. The box will show both RMA reference numbers on the outside and each bag within the box will be labeled with the appropriate RMA reference number for that unit. Is this acceptable?
Hopper replied:

- Yes that is great!
So, I shipped them both back to you for service.

I then received notification that serial number GT006923, under RMA #63048978 was repaired and ready to ship back. There was no notification or indication of status at all on my other GH, serial number GT001671, under RMA #13299759. Coupled with the fact that there were no updates to RMA #13299759, I could only assume that my older GH was still in the queue for repair.

I receive the box from you a week ago, opened it, and to my shock I found both GHs in there.

After testing, it appears that the GH about which I was notified was fixed, serial number GT006923, under RMA #63048978, was indeed repaired.

However, after testing, my other old GH, serial number GT001671, under RMA #13299759 does not appear to be fixed and seems to run as cold as it did when I sent it back to you.

I do use a USB microscope to take very close macro pictures of the trichomes of my flower. I used this microscope on the AVB from both of these GHs and this seemed to confirm my subjective test results, specifically that serial number GT001671, under RMA #13299759 is still running unacceptably cold (and IMO, its performance is exactly as it was when I sent it back for repair). If you want to see these pics, I will be glad to attach them at your request.

It seems to me that one of two things happened; either Hopper Labs finds cold running GHs acceptable and hence shipped it back to me intentionally or, more likely, when shipping back the repaired GT006923, under RMA #63048978 whoever packed up the repaired GH just packed up the entire bin of my stuff and sent me back on GH that was repaired and one that was not.

I note that in this RMA, there is no mention of any activity on GT001671 and I’ll bet it still shows as being in your facility and that you will not be able to find it, because you shipped it back to me.

By the by, all testing was done at Temp Level 5. Anything less was a waste of time. Even the GH that you did intentionally send back to me, GT006923, and which I am willing to accept as I’m tired of the Hopper Labs waltz, is only acceptable when at Temp Level 5 and so there is no headroom for temperature at all which is a bit disappointing and is less than what I had with my OG GH before its first failure.

Please advise.

Thank you.
:bang::bang::bang::bang::bang:

Hi Frank - the one they seemed to intentionally return to me, is....acceptable, but only when running on Temp 5 and only because I'm tired of doing the dance with them.

The other one, my OG that did indeed work perfectly for 18 months before going tits up, is not acceptable.

If you look at the AVB pics, the first ones are from the intentional returned GH. I'm not super happy about the trichome stalks left, but if I run it on 5 then I can live with it. It won't be my favorite but I'll use it.

The next set of pics is my OG GH which they appear to not have fixed and I find that level of trichome stalks left on the plant to be unacceptable. Please note, run on temp 5 through water so I was really honking on it and trying to get as much out of the device as I had.

They are indeed a joke of a company.

@frank grimes - Hi, that's a generous offer. His name is @Vitolo and his thread is here:

http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/paying-it-forward-a-new-direction.13802/page-17#post-1386530

However, he has hit a rough patch of road in his personal life. If you don't mind selling them, and sending a cash donation of your choosing to Vito, that would be ideal!

@ChooChooCharlie , thanks for the info, I will contact Vitolo when I have the time. I had heard of his charitable work, but until I perused the other thread quickly, I didn’t know his backstory. Poor guy, I truly respect his desire to help especially when he probably could use a hand as much as the people he is helping.

@Baron23
I can’t really tell the difference between the two sets of photos. The first set(fixed) might look slightly darker than the second set but not by much. However, if that’s as dark as it gets on 5, i can see another rma in the near future. I remember when my hoppers were brand new, I could almost combust on 5. Your previous post relaying your complaint and their response is the perfect example of why I give up. On your end, you can communicate your issue in a clear, concise and methodical fashion and they’ll still ignore everything you said and do whatever they want to.

Well, it’s bittersweet to get off this crazy train knowing that the hopper hit so good when it worked but it feels so good not to have to deal with this gong show that is hopper labs.

Good luck to all who are hanging in there. Remember...give them hell, not more money!

I recently received shipping notice with a part. I’m not sure what’s coming but this is good news.
I also had the problem with the serial validation issue others have mentioned.
I really like the Grasshopper bubbler, it pairs well with a lot of vapes, of course it would be nice to have a GH to use it with.
