Discontinued The Grasshopper

The blue Ti I ordered during the sale came through a few weeks ago, but no word on the charger yet.

I still have an SS to send back so I was pretty happy to get it.

You know, I really didn’t want to post this but it’s got exactly the same problems as all the other GHs I’ve had.

Flickering blue without even drawing, occasional hot back end & light ABV.

The front end & the back end don’t match the colour of the body but I don’t really care I’d just like it to work.

Anyway fired it up last night & thought I was finally getting some nice thick vapor but turns out it was just incinerating the front end.

Coughed up a bunch of toxic tasting smoke & sweated all night.

So now I’m back to owning two Hoppers that are both faulty with one trying to kill me.

The new version for me has been just as much of an epic fail as the old one.

Congratulations to the people who are receiving working Hoppers, or the one person who did.

Be careful with these things guys this is not the first time this has happened to me with a Grasshopper.

I got into vaping for health reasons but this sort of failure is the stuff that kills people.

Ouch, scary thing, i would like to send my SS hopper very soon for repair (hot back end again & combust at 5) but holy shit i'm afraid to lost to the GH repair lottery ... even more with international shipping cost :\

Please, I'm not trying to get in your grill but if I understand it your GH combusted. Absolutely should not combust nor do I argue at all with your frustration and contempt with Hopper Labs as I share them.

But if you combusted a load, don't you that "sweating all night" and "killing people" may...just may be a bit of hyperbole.

Just saying, mate....there may well be more danger in your life than a combusted load in a GH.

Ok, ducking out now before the tomatoes start flying.

I see where you’re coming from but it’s not just a regular combustion issue.

Obviously I’m frustrated so my wording was harsh but I think justifiably so.

I’ve been a big supporter of Hopper Labs but like many I’ve had numerous failures & more than one front end looking like this.

If the problem was just herb combusting in the chamber as you say it wouldn’t be a huge issue.

That’s happened to me before, I simply lowered the temperature & kept using it until it eventually failed & the chamber melted down like this one.

Several have also had offgassing problems & I’m not sure if this is the heater cooking itself but this is definitely making its way to my vapor.

I’m a non smoker so the smell & taste of foreign substances in vapor is very obvious & leaves me feeling unwell if I inhale. This is no exaggeration.

Generally combustion in most vaporizers with glass or metal vapor paths is not a issue, however this one has a shroud of plastic insulation wrapped around the chamber.

That insulation has a tendency to fail if there is a combustion incident & this is something to be careful of when using a Hopper.

I feel is this is a big health & safety issue & it would be irresponsible of me not to warn people.

I won’t argue the point because you’re welcome to believe otherwise & I do appreciate your opinion.

So... I did some shopping and bought a beautiful little wooden box for my Hopper. It fits two Hoppers or one Hopper plus up to two Batteries or other accessories. It's made from oiled oak and lined with felt. It's made by a charity (Steinhoeriger Werkstaetten) and available at Manufactum.de (search for Stiftetui Eiche) at EUR 19,50. If you google "Steinhoeringer Werkstaetten Stifteetui" you will find other, partly cheaper offers for the same box made from different wood, like oiled pear, but it seems the oak is only available at Manufactum. I bought it in their Hamburg store. Check the "duo" version for two pencils, there's also a "solo" version of that box available but that has too little height. Great haptic and a super solid hinge joint made of stainless steel, perfectly fitting the Hopper!

Plastic insulation? You mean around the bowl? That's the first time I heard of that...

think he means this part... https://goo.gl/images/HZ5n2z

if I remember right I have heard about this problem... but think it was before their newest revision..

Ok, wasn't aware there was this insulation/sealing. But it isn't even in the airpath as it's sealed by the mouthpiece/pfe. Also I checked the reddit thread this pic is from and those "marks" are not melted or combusted or whatever, I have them exactly that way at the chamber of my brand new Hopper, that ran for exactly one time, and they look identical as the Hopper that I used for months. Not even any discoloration here. So I guess this is not what @Poostuff is referring to.

yeah the picture I posted was not melted... I only wanted to show you where plastic ring is...

Hey guys please what’s the name of the best external charger for GHB 2 and if possible a link as well..

Edit: found nitcore sc4, nitcore i4 and nitcore UM20. Anyone knows the differences and what will work best with the GHBs ?

Thank you.

Can you also share pictures:
1. Looking directly into the battery chamber with flash
2. Looking directly into the herb chamber with flash
3. Maybe even removing the herb chamber screen and taking a picture of the heater?

Hopper labs repaired my hopper pretty quick and send it back ... but is there a thread to bitch about my country's postal service?

Arrived 21 of June in their sorting facilities in Sweden and still no hopper home!!!

2 important party weekends later and I am still carrying around my Hydrobrick :/ thankfully that thing kicks ass but not worry portable or pockatable

Don't know if it matters, I use a nitcore i4 and it works great. I have a Focus Pro that uses 18650 batts and I can charge all my batteries at the same time if I need to.

Hot back end and flickering.

It should be here tomorrow. Got my fingers crossed they actually fixed it. If it isn't fixed I'll be refunding my electric blue, case, and charger.

Thru a PayPal dispute?
I asked for a refund weeks ago and no response. How easy is it to dispute

I haven't received anything I mentioned I would be getting a refund on. HL gives refunds for things you haven't received no problem, just might have to ask them a few times.

If they actually refuse or ignore you long enough and it's about an order you haven't received yet opening a PayPal dispute is a guaranteed way to make them respond.

Sent 3 emails. Had the SS case and charger pre-ordered for a month now. It's July (suppose to ship) but I'd rather get my money back.

Ok, I must have misunderstood badly and owe you an apology. And I didn't see any images but that's been flaky on the site lately so...

You are saying that the device itself melt/burned/combusted? Not the load, but the device?

If so, have you pulled the battery out? Did it start there with a overheated, perhaps on fire, battery?

Cheers
