Discontinued The Grasshopper

the first hit is flavourful... the flavour is also very strong... the other hits are not as flavourful.. but that is the same with all other vapes... do not know why some are not liking the flavour of gh... BTW I am using my hopper most of the time trough a bubbler without water...
Yeah I want to say the first hit on the GH at low temp tastes as good as my Freshly cleaned Mighty at low temps. The Mighty however never tastes charred or roasted, and I think that's pretty amazing. The GH I understand tastes that way because of the fast extraction and short vapor path.

very intersting... is this the heating element or something else... could be zirconia, zirconium dioxide... googled and you can 3d print it and use it as a heating element... if it is the new heating element is it better then the steel one, is it cheaper? why didnthe change it?

any difference in performance?

So after spending only a day with my returned hopper, I put it back in the box and found a friend to pass it on too. They're picking it up tomorrow so I thought I'd try it for tonight. Heres a few thoughts.

Mine no longer ticks.

I was looking down at the heating element and it def looks different than it did pre RMA (as previously noted, they've changed the contacts in the battery compartment too). Not that I can see much.

The airflow seems slightly less restricted than I remember. Maybe my lungs are having a good day.

The TASTE! Good god, the flavour on high temp setting 5, through my D020, is phenomenal. Crazy impressed. Setting 5 temp never used to be this good? Or maybe its my material, but I'm pretty blown away by it. Much more than I remember previously. It hits very, very smoothly. I havent once taken the temp down below 5 tonight. Not a single bowl has tasted like it used to at high temp.

I've been putting whole buds in, no grinding. Works like a dream. Maybe a 0.2

Serial number has changed this time around.

The hopper is going to a friend who only lives a few streets away so I'll be able to check how long it lasts till its next RMA. I couldnt wait to get rid of it before it came back but godamit, I'd very happily keep it now.

I think the Grasshopper produces better than average flavor, but not the best by far. It's my second worst tasting vape. My VapCaps taste worse with a high temp extraction, but I am using higher temps than the Grasshopper is capable of. If I could use the same temp on my hopper it might taste a little better than the cap because there would be less conduction.

My Sticky Bricks and Evo are more flavorful but not necessarily better tasting. My E-Nano has the purest flavor of any of my vapes and tastes the best in my opinion.

That being said, the Grasshopper's flavor is "good enough" in my opinion, especially if you stay below 4.5 on the temp dial.

First impression here......I received this vape a couple days ago and I am impressed. My primary vape is a Herbalizer , I've been using it with bags on a daily basis for almost 3 years. I also use a Firefly and a Lotus.
The GH is very easy to use and tastes very good on the medium heat settings. It does get a little hot on the lips after the first draw, but bearable. This seems like a one person vape due to limited battery use and heat buildup. I was able to use it for 3 sessions before needing a recharge, maybe 12 good hits or so. I am able to get perfect size draws for my needs easily .This will be an excellent away from home vape if it keeps performing at the level it does now.

Awesome to hear someone with an herbalizer praising the grasshopper!

How long are the GHB2 lasting you guys per charge?

With my new unit and the new batteries , I am getting two good pulls with the PFE before the lights start to blink and then it dies somewhere on the 3rd pull....

Does this seem normal?

Unless your pulls are 2 minutes each then this is not normal. A battery is meant to last several minutes. I get 3-4 chambers from each battery with 3-4 draws in each chamber. My ghb2 batteries are 6 months old and a fairly fresh RMA hopper.

@NimbusVapor I haven't timed myself or kept track of my draws but I would estimate around 15 draws before the battery needs changing for me. It depends on your draw and how high your tempreture setting is at so there are some variables. That would be my newer batteries. My older batteries have degraded. I wrote with a sharpie on the batteries which are underperforming.

I recall one or two people here (can't find the posts now) writing on their batteries to keep track of them, and finding that the ink (even from permenant pens, IIRC) found its way into the battery compartment, and off the batteries. It isn't in the airflow, obviously, and I can't imagine it affecting the electronics even if it made its way down to the battery contact, but I thought it was worth mentioning. Keep an eye on the marks to check they're still there every once in a while.

I just filled out my third RMA. Blech. It sounds as though a lot of people are enjoying the PFE, so I may have to inquire about purchasing one with a few of the newer batteries. My batteries, while not responsible (I can't imagine) for my undercooking and poor draws, are no spring chickens and it would probably be a good idea to replace with some freshness.

The grasshopper seems to be a very efficient vaporizing for conserving weed. This is one reason I like the Firefly2. Is this true? And where do you buy the hopper, only place I saw was directly from hopper.

The grasshopper is fairly efficient yes. I still conserve more when using my vapcap or underdog vapes, but the grasshopper does pretty good. I have never used a firefly so I wouldn't be good for comparing the two.

If you're looking to buy in the US then I believe grasshopper direct
Is the only avenue for purchase.

You guys know that silicon mouth peice does not come with new units now. I didn't get one sat there gonna be out stock for 40 to 60 days insane
I know someone on here used a plastic mouthpiece that he got from going to a vape shop and trying out different flavors. It was pretty ergonomical and much thinner that the stock mouthpiece. You may want to look into it.
@virtualpurple The PFE is worth it in my opinion. It allows more airflow and feels easier to draw and get a nice big hit. It does get hot however I always wait a bit before I take a hit since the GH is pretty potent for me.

The silicone cover for the mouthpiece is essential IMO. My GH gets so hot after a few draws, that are close together in my case. The silicone cover needs to be included in the price of the GH, I think their parts are expensive too. The batteries are a good price. I'm expecting that they will be raising the prices for those as well.

This unit is sold with a lifetime guarantee but the company tries to get you to buy extra parts so the unit runs better. Maybe those parts should have been included in the GH in the beginning. I understand if the company wants to get out of a lifetime warranty. That can be expensive long term, it eats away at the profit level. First they need to work at getting things right. I will be sending my unit in soon. As I continue to be working through issues.

Edit
@mmafighterthe25 said that a silicone mouthpiece cover wasn't included any longer. Is there one included with the GH now or not? The silicone mouth gruards are very easily lost so get two or three. The only time I don't use a silicone mouthpiece is when I use water filtration.

I have the stainless steel hopper but my titanium unit that I lost got really hot as well. Maybe some people have more of a sensitivity to heat on their lips?
