It's a GHB2. How hot should the battery be once removed after a 3-4 hit session?
The batteries themselves get warm but not, like, too hot to touch.
To clarify, I didn't mean to mislead by suggesting you might have a "hot" battery in that sense. I meant, apparently incorrectly, that maybe the battery itself was over charged and causing some lights to flash.
It seems maybe @Icon13 knows a thing or two more than I about this stuff.
I agree that initiating a warranty claim is a good idea, as described, and that likely they'll send a new Body.

It has less to do with logistics. Shipments from China take longer than you might think with no real ETA. It is by seas; It's cargo. They are not waiting for an e packet, and air shipment costs a ton. It is what it is.

Also, keep in mind that these are custom sized batteries. From overseas manufacturing to delivery, it will take months. And by the time they get them, they are already ordering another batch because of the high demand and that will take months. So, unless you put your order in when they actually have stock, you will wait.

I don't really know the reason that you're trying to excuse their unacceptable delay and customer service but in any case let me repeat myself and tell you that my batteries have been ordered and paid up in front since April/March so even if what you're saying is realistic, which it sounds like it a lot, it is not my problem and definitely I, like the rest like me, do not deserve to keep on waiting like that.
And on top of that, I have another friend waiting for his hoppers as well and a friend of us ordered a Ti unit from vapefiend, received it in less than a week or a week... And now he's taking the piss on us and he's vaping his lovely hopper. Isn't like a bitch? If we knew this was going to happen, I could have saved some extra money back then and a lot more on the frustration and anger all this time.
So please, don't try to excuse any of their shit for any reason.. Unless, you're part of HL and you're trying to make them look decent..

Before I received my Hopper, I was fairly worried about the battery being close to the heating chamber. As it turns out, the battery stays relatively cool. I say relatively because it does get warm, but I would not classify it as hot. Sometimes I pop my battery out immediately after a session in order to see just how hot has gotten. To my surprise it is never anywhere close to what I would say is a dangerous level.

If your mouthpiece is getting extremely hot immediately, I would think that might have something to do with the police lights that you observed, and the heat sensor malfunctioning causing the overheating. Of course, I am just making an educated guess and to do not know for sure. I would keep your warranty request very simple and vague;

"I get red and blue flashing lights. I believe this is due to sensor damage of some sort. Please send a new body and I will return my body when I receive."

That's funny, and to infuriate you more I ordered my three grasshopper 2 batteries last month and receive them within a week :brow:.

I also spent an extra $50 and bought my Hopper off of eBay brand new because I did not want to wait. I would probably be waiting about a year, so that only comes out to $4 per month.

Is it normal for the hopper to discharge approx 0.10 volts per 10 second turn-on/turn-off?

Ok so after a few tests, the police lights ONLY occur when the battery is charged to full 4.2V capacity. They last for 5 or 6 seconds and then the light turns solid blue. They do not go back to police for the rest of the battery's life, until it is fully charged externally back to 4.2, in which case the police lights start again and dissappear after 5-6 seconds.

Should I be concerned about this, or is it just a weird quirk?

True, but I think we can eliminate overheating since it happens right off the bat when he initially Powers up, right? I'm leaning toward sensor damage, although it continues to work after this anomaly. I wonder how long that will last. Perhaps it is neither and his body is just defective, it sounds like his unit was brand new when it started doing this. When mine got the red and blue lights it just stopped working altogether and would not heat up.

He should register his unit as soon as possible and submit a warranty request. That is what I would do. They should get back to him within 24 hours.

Hey guys, thanks for the input. I've registered the hopper and requested a warranty per your suggestions. How long of a process does this tend to be, and is the hopper safe to use until the new unit arrives? Again, it's still functioning (it's a powerhouse).

thought it could also be overheating because the mp gets hot... do not know thought I would mention that there are two sort of cop lights... but he could watch the video I posted and can recognize which cop lights...

We’re going full steam into December at Hopper Labs!

We have a stock of completed Grasshoppers and parts big enough to fulfill all the outstanding 2016 orders. We know this particular delay has been frustrating for everyone who had their address confirmed in November. Our estimate was thrown off by the extensive lead time required for battery production and a faster than anticipated consumption, but now we’ve got it all sorted out. We will be shipping hundreds of units out next week and thousands this month!

Hey, at least they are communicating. I think it's worse when you hear nothing.

I'm happy to hear that pre-orders are nearing an end. I'd have liked some ball park figures on what's been built vs outstanding orders.

I'm happy to hear they are proud of their product, I would have liked them to have qualified that statement by showing number hoppers in the wild to date vs number of hoppers returned for warranty.

I'm happy they are ramping up efforts to be more communicative towards their customers.

I'm happy I have a hopper, I like the device. I've had issues with them but I think this company is going to succeed and is only really just getting their business together.

I think this means reliability will improve, response times will improve and we might start seeing some of the accessories coming in 2017.

Again this is just my opinion.

I don't care all that much about the leather case.

I cancelled my order of the SS case and bought a perfectly capable alternative with the reimbursed funds.

I didn't like being strung along, if they had told people upfront that they were beta testers I think most will still have ordered.

I'm hoping reliability improves before I hit warranty return 5. I'm currently on 2 since July 2015

So Yeh, I thought this was a positive update and I'm still happy hopping.

fuck sakes I hate the fact how much this annoys me and all I wanted was just a convection portable without a plastic shell and exchangeable batteries that could be charged through USB not bloody

My cs experience was fast. I heard back in a day or so, and had a new body in less than a week.

Okay, it's almost the end of the Pre-Order Era and it's almost a new year.
Anyone else feel a change to price structure coming on?
Any guesses?

Assuming HL continues to be a direct marketer:
I'm thinking SS to retail at HL site for $189 and Ti for $239.
Batteries going up, condoms down, to really drill down on it!

I managed a custom shop for many years and one ongoing activity was estimating work and pricing it. We would often run the numbers a couple of different ways, but one aspect we often tried to account for was what we came to call "perceived value". It can be a very powerful approach.

Ok, nice positive review. Not a single mention of failure rate and shipping delay issues. Any reviewer worth a bit of salt would know about these issues and bring them up...unless they were painting a pure white picture with intent (more pejoratively known as whitewashing but I don't know much about this reviewer and would withhold that more critical term pending more info).

I personally like the end caps made by Delta 3D for my GH batteries....but they cap each battery seperate so not exactly what you wanted

I'm assuming that when you say "last month" you mean October, because I've been told by Hopper Labs (either via e-mail or Twitter reply) more than once that they ran out of batteries around the end of Oct, and have not shipped any Grasshoppers or spare battery orders since then.

I'm happy to hear that pre-orders are nearing an end.

C'mon dude... they've been telling us for MONTHS that they're almost caught up on pre-orders. Yet here I sit, still waiting for the unit I paid for 10 MONTHS ago. This is what pisses me off the most... these repeated claims that they're "nearly" all caught up. Well, being 10 months behind is not "nearly caught up" in my book.

They have no idea when those batteries are going to get there. When I followed up on my ignored address confirmation over two weeks ago, they told me the batteries would arrive "any day now"

I am really loving this case, it's discreet, holds everything securely, slender, lightweight, excellent protection. I know it's designed to hold two spare batteries, but I wouldn't know from experience, as I still don't have any spare batteries.... grrrrr :bang:

I picked up two of the end caps and will keep the batteries in my 18650 case that way. Also grabbed a spiral stand and loading funnel. Fine times in the 3D printing coal mines!

Good news, I think I've confirmed their charger doesn't fully charge their battery after using my new external charger.

Better news, my Blue Ti got the cop lights today. First time ever getting them. It's odd because Trevoline told me they replaced the body of it, but really ended up putting a new back end on it. Which worked for about a week or so.

Best news, they've had my 3 faulty chargers since last Saturday, not a word one on an update since.

Truly Blessed.
