As to the preferred "hand tearing" of herb, there are Microplane parsley choppers that use a scissors mechanism, but don't the aluminum post grinders just grab and tear it anyway?
I have tried a coaser grind and I do not find it any better than a fine grind. In fact a finer grind gives me more even browning. I just have to be more careful about draw speed, and I have to expect some additional clean up.
But yes, the aluminum grinders basically grab and tear (or cut?). More turns do result in a finder grind though.
The firefly survived being in a hit and run car accident yesterday. I was trading the car in TODAY, until some bitch in a mercedes tboned me and ran. Firefly was on the seat and went flying and is 100% undamaged, even cosmetically. Meanwhile my car is as close totaled as you can get...you know without actually being totaled :/
Sorry to hear that!
I was mortified when my FF slid out of the microfiber bag and onto my tile floor, from about waist height. It was a pretty big drop, and was followed by about a three foot slide across the tile floor, just for extra flair (the Russian judge gave it a disappointing 8.67).
I am still looking for damage. I finally saw some scratches on the chrome border of the lid, but it took me a little while to find them. Otherwise no visible damage and no affect on functionality.
