I am thinking of getting this for reasons mainly the easier on the lungs draw. THis is my main complaint w the CF I have but i've had it for 5 years. I have to vape on first setting to relieve this issue even on 2 it gets harsh. It's partially my fault i cannot clean a some areas that have material that got stuck stained if you will, i think this is part of the cause as well. I had the orig FF and liked it but it was too big for my needs but i dont think i have much choice, I also like that it gives off no aroma although i expect the device itself will have one after some time. I like the cost saving benefit i do concur it uses less material. Is there any reason or is there another vape I should consider? I cannot get the water additions, I tried once and it didnt work out. I am in a closested situation so i need as little matter as possible, the CF is perfect in that sense. also when they ship it, is it in a plain box without their name and logo? I can think o the MFLB is a reasonable choice for my needs but i has one and after a time didn't like it so much, because of the batteries and quality. I am thinking of the new Davinci which has the size i like but if the quality is so much better I would go for the FF2+ especially with the discount

what discount?

I'm quite happy with customer service at TheFirefly. A few months ago I bought a FF2 from a seller on eBay. Had the battery issue as well as the clogging issue resulting in a hard draw. So I called them back then. They checked the serial number to make sure it was genuine and wrote me a trouble-ticket. They've been prompt with follow ups and recently even sent me a free battery (now that they have them back in stock). I had to give them the serial numbers off of the two that came with my FF2. One of them worked better than the other one and I think they realized that. But it does seem like they're trying to stand behind the product now. When I opened the app the other day it did an update. Now my batteries seem to last longer. Another poster on here mentioned that the red light doesn't come on as often now. Same with me. And my batteries both seem to be working much better now. I think I use less product when I roll a cigarette but I'm sure the vapor is better for my lungs.

I have two beautiful Fireflies (FF1&2) sitting in my drawer that have the blinking lights issue. I just got a new battery because i thought it could be the culprit but it wasn't.
Unfortunately the warranty has been expired and i wonder if it's worth to get them repaired. I really like them but the FF1 got repaired once already and they never felt reliable to me.
So what do you guys think? Would you send them in for repair?
I don't need them as i got enough other vapes but it's a bit sad to have them sitting there looking nice and shiny without functioning.

Can you turn on the FF2? Let it update with the new app and see what happens.

So my Firefly is losing its silicone seal on the lid, has a chip in the glass bowl from where I dropped it when I was Woweee medicated (doesn't negatively affect performance) and the battery is dying. I wanted to send it in for maintenance but I discovered that they only accept US Fireflys and not our Antipodean ones. Ho- Hum at least I bought a Ghost Mv1 I hope they have better international customer service. And that's part of the reason I didn't choose the FF2+. I'm brand loyal and I love my FF2 but its two months out of warranty and there is almost no point contacting them to try to replace the lid, I doubt they'll let the two months slide.

Antipodean
/anˌtipəˈdēən/

-relating to Australia or New Zealand

Thanks....I just learned something today..........I am now smarter than I was yesterday......time to vape! lol

I am surprised FF has no service center in the upside down area of the globe.

Surprisingly it worked. After the update i can use the FF2 again. I wonder why. Unfortunately i can't update the FF1's firmware. But anyway, thanks for the tip LabPong!

Yes, I believe the wifi is always on like the MV1 with the FF2 when battery is connected.....so if your phone is updated to the latest FF app...it should communicate with the vape if it powers up.

Call them if you’re able. They might send you a new lid, even out of warranty. Never know till you try!

Just for the heck of it I took my Firefly 2 out of the box today. I charged the battery and did a firmware update. I haven't used it in along time. Loaded up and like always nothing at 440°, then concentrate mode a little bit of a hit and then red overheated mode. Tried once more and gave up. Back in the box it goes. I'm not knocking this vape. I really tried to like it considering the money I spent. I'm glad some people like it. I can get better medicated with my iolite though.

It does make you wonder why. Also how! But regardless, it definitely works better. I get a much longer time of use between charges; more reliable that way. I think it works more like it was intended to now. I don't mess with the calibration at all now. Seems like little + or = on that feature makes a bigger difference now.

It almost seems to me like the ability to change heat settings without the phone app is a little more difficult. I'm not sure what each blink of the light designates now. "5" used to be about 400 degrees. It states it on the website but after this update I'm not too sure that is still accurate.

Quick question is there a difference between charging with the dock or the external charger. I was thinking of purchasing one.

I borrowed friends fire fly 2. First time using was fantastic! Last night was a different story wispy hits, so I went back to my ghost mv1 which also a little inconsistent, I am still learning the subtleties of convection. I wanted to ask what exactly is the calibration setting on the firefly app? How do you recommend using that setting?

I just brought a fire fly 2, and it updated the firmware automatically, what exactly does the new firmware do, and is it noticeable difference in the performance? I notice the draw is more restrictive compared to my friends all black
firefly 2, I have the black and silver firefly 2 why is that? Shouldn't it be the same draw resistance?

My FF2 did show a big difference with the battery life after the update. I bought one off of eBay @ last March I believe. It was new. One of the batteries only held a charge for a short time. I established a work order with The Firefly and they ended up sending me a new battery so now I have three of them and they all hold a charge and perform longer between charges than they did before the update. The color etc. of the unit make no difference.

The draw is a problem with the FF, especially with flower; not so much with concentrate. I've played around with mine quite a bit. There are videos on YouTube showing some of the techniques to getting smoother draw. I would guess your friend cleans it frequently. When using flower, I have to. The bowl gets clogged after some usage. The mouthpiece also gets clogged very easily when using flower and I have to constantly take it out and use the little pick to clean around the mouthpiece screen; even take out the screen and clean it. Kind of tedious. Also, I use alcohol wipes to clean out the bowl occasionally; be sure and let it dry out for a few minutes before using it when you do this.

I figured it out, the mouth piece was ever so slightly not inserted all the way and that caused it let on too much air making me think it was something different, once inserted correctly it was the same draw for the 2 units

Yeah I know the feeling. I just bought one shortly before the plus came out. At least I was able to get it online for about the same price the 2 + is selling for.

firefly has a program you can send in your firefly2 to get the same upgrades as the plus version, it only costs 30.00 I was thinking about doing it. I wanted to check and see if anyone else did it first? it doesn't seem like a bad deal. below is an email I received from firefly when I asked what is the upgrade and process to do so.

Dear David,

Thank you for your response!

I am so sorry you have not yet received further information on the Firefly upgrade! This is available for any Firefly 2 owner; our technicians can modify your existing Firefly 2 and essentially turn it into a Firefly 2+, giving the same functionality as the new unit. This will give your unit the same airflow, advanced heating algorithm, and firmware as the Firefly 2+. This service can be done for a flat fee of $30 in the US or Canada at this time. This includes shipping on the way back to you. All authentic Firefly 2 units in good working condition are eligible for this service. The turnaround time is around 14-20 business days. Broken glass and out of warranty repairs can be performed for an additional fee. Please do be mindful there is no cosmetic changes with the upgrade; internal parts will be changed to facilitate the increased airflow of the Plus model!

If this is something that interests you, please give us a call at your earliest convenience to (800) 409-5448. Our representative will collect the fee and process your request. Please make sure to have the device’s serial number and color available when you call. In addition, supplying us with your full name, phone number, current shipping address, Serial Number, and Firefly Lid color in advance with a reply will help us expedite your order when you call in!

Thank you for your support. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Best Regards,

Firefly Support

Why is the bearded guy vaping an empty bowl? Bearded guys are typically smarter than to smoke hot air.

That would be because the Firefly company are just into image and bullshit. They shitty little Firefly2 only works when everything is perfect, but the crazy thing is that even though I paid 400 bucks for it, and I'm prepared to dismantle it to clean it, they refuse to sell me the little flat washers that go on either side of the bottom plate.

I can't believe that first they put a new light pattern design now they advertise better airflow. Not for long because it clogs up pretty fast, and in fact it's entirely useless for concentrates, unless you are prepared to completely dismantle it, which I am.

There's a lot more wrong with it, I liked it at first until I realised what a complete pain in the ass it is. Not only that but it doesn't even work, the algorithm that decides when it's going to turn on the element and for how long is idiotic. It requires 20 second hits and then it overheats pretty fast.

These are the washers I'm talking about. They tried to compare their Firefly2 to an iPhone and because Apple won't supply internal components for their phone so it's really exactly the same thing with Firefly, their 5c flat washers are too technical for me to understand. They did say that they were really very sad that they were unable to supply me a washer like every other fucking quality vape company does.

Here's what the FireFly looks like if you try to use concentrates and their supplied steel pads...

Oh btw see how it's all burned like that inside, that's how your one will be too if you ever took the company advice which they tell everyone to put the FF on full 500F and do a "burn off" (lol) which actually does fuck all and once you open it up and work it out you'll see why.

there's no way to properly check the holes and clean them let alone clean out all the oil that will inevitably build up, unless you dismantle and clean properly. BUT the firefly company simply point blank refuses to help or assist in any way. It's probably illegal not so supply a part like a washer that will wear out and is a proprietary size, on a $400 item, but I simply would be happy if they did the right thing.

The only reason I can think of for them to be so intransigent on this issue is to keep up the bafflegab and bullshit while people who are unsure get suckered into their advertising. I can see that I'm probably going to have to be able to bypass the circuit board at some time in the future and control the heating element manually. I guess that day will come when the flaky side capacitor buttons stop working.

In one of my first postings to the forum, I had the temerity to compare the MFLB to the FF2 in terms of efficiency. I believe a couple of pictures were the response with a B-2 bomber representing the FF2 and a biplane representing the MFLB telling me you can't compare the vapes because the tech.

I disagreed (Go figure, it seems like it should be my slogan.) and wrote something about how both will fly.

But, even then, it was clear the FF2 was a finicky vape that can work exceptionally well. Just as a B-2 is a finicky plane that can work exceptionally well. The thing is, the maintenance budget for the MFLB is slight while for the FF2 is more modern U.S. weapon system.

The thing is, the maintenance budget for the MFLB is slight while for the FF2 is more modern U.S. weapon system.

Trouble is it's one of those weapons systems they sold to Iran and now they have no spare parts.

My issue is with the company who try to stoke fear into its customers so they will not open the FF up, because once you do that you realise how fragile it is. They try to scare people into putting up with it when it could be improved.

It definitely needs to be taken apart and cleaned to keep it working but they refuse to supply the seals. Yet they try to keep up this pretence that it is not necessary.

I'm thinking of making a video to show how simple it is to disassemble. There are two youtube videos that are both not very good, in fact they don't even fully understand what they are doing themselves.

I have found that by infusing rosin inside some cotton wool, that I can vape it in the firefly without any mess and it works better than weed because that always flys around when it dries and makes a mess and blocks everything up. Whereas the rosin stays suspended in the cotton wool. This is what I'd do now if I want something portable. Otherwise I just use the vapexhale which is the purest deliverer of warmed air of any vape.

I figured it out, the mouth piece was ever so slightly not inserted all the way and that caused it let on too much air making me think it was something different, once inserted correctly it was the same draw for the 2 units

Yes the way you easily check that is with the top off, block the tiny hole that lets air into the mouth piece with your finger, then try to suck air through the mouthpiece, you'll soon know if it's sealed or not. However there's more problems with the holes in the oven plate getting blocked. And even more difficult to check.

Here are the holes when my Firefly was almost new, and after I did repeated 500F "burn offs" as I was told to do by their "support" people, who apparently do not have names.

Here's a problem that I bet causes a bit of frustration. See the screw marked in green that holds down the ceramic bridge, it has a little square rubber washer under it but it can come a little bit loose from shaking the firefly to distribute the weed or tapping it. It will cause intermittent loss of power.
