Aah - that makes sense. I can see why kief is best for that - I have a chromium crusher on the way :)

Elbow Pack Method Link should take you to post #1118
Basically leave the screen in the elbow on the whip and pack that screen with finely ground plant matter ;) Then place that back on the bowl turn up the heat , let it warm for a bit and your good to go.

I also noticed you all talking about how to seal bags or make valves. Am I the only one who uses the glass stir tool as a mouthpiece stopper, like a I Dream of Jeannie style decanter? It fits perfectl

Ah. I see what you do there. I just slide the pointed end into the glass mouthpiece, so the heavy end can help it stand up when I am not using it.

Thanks so much for this 66 page thread. Am I a dork because I love using it for aromatherapy, as well? I use 85-95 and the lowest fan setting with a touch of essential oil. :) :peace:
Welcome to FC Fleursdiesoats.
Medical user as well and unfortunately i am in a state w/o such legislation as well
I have been thinking of using my E for other things a well such as Hops and a few other things I found online, What is your experience with using at an oil diffuser in particular what are the oils you use yadda yadda, not alot of discussion on this
Ump,

I asked my doctor about this, and he told me to only use it for what I bought it for in terms of vaporizing. I have a small amount of disease in my lungs, but he told me that inhaling essential oils can lead to edema and lung irritation, even for a healthy individual. It is better to use the potpourri dish and let it diffuse through the room. You can also buy pillows filled with hops to take advantage of their properties. :-)

I have 4 cats and 2 dogs in a small 2 BR apartment. I find that this vaporizer freshens my entire apartment better than 4 solid gel (Renuzit cones) fresheners. I am going to go to the local gift shops and look for some oils that I like, but right now I am using one drop of The Body Shop's Lemon Basil oil stirred into the potpourri. Since smells can really do a number on my stomach, I planned on staying with very clean scents, such as eucalyptus, lavender, rosemary, and such. I will now stop burning scented candles, since those also release unhealthy byproducts in the air.

Fleursiedoats

p.s. I tried the elbow pack last night. I am not new to smoking in general, but you GOTTA be ready for that. I am sticking with the cyclone bowl, because I worry that the thick vapor means I am exhaling a higher percentage of the THC than otherwise.
So just to understand correctly. You take the bowl that is meant for potpourri and have placed the potpourri in there. You then take your essential oil, put one drop on the potpourri, and stir the potpourri up?

I assume you do this with fan speed 1.

But what temperature setting?

Also where can i get esseential oils or scented oils? any home outfitters store or something similar?

Thanks,
MM

Really? Even if you placed a few drops of oil on a cotton ball, as the instructions recommend, and put it in the cyclone bowl? I wouldn't think there'd be enough oil released into the air to irritate anything. I personally use a custom blended essential oil mixture in a diffuser.

lots of new people in here. always good to see.

im just here to agree that using the glass stirrer to plug the whip works well and i posted it somewhere awhile back. i also ALWAYS use the elbow screen pack method and have never looked back. once the taste gets diluted, i put the material in the elbow pack into the cyclone bowl to add to a fresh elbow pack's vapor. i have a v3 and vape anywhere from 190-210 for all the new people and do bags at a steady 230. hope this helps. :D

i would like to hear advice on using essential oils and things because i had a cotton ball with some drops of grapefruit oil and it didnt really smell much at all. im looking for something i can really wrap my scent receptors on. a faint smell of anything kind of just annoys me.

We are smoking the oil, but there is not a whole drop of oil in the amount you are putting in the bowl. I used to study herbalism quite a bit. Many herbs are wonderful in very minute quantities. Quantities MUCH smaller than a drop of oil. An example is digitalis, an amazing heart medicine. It is from the foxglove. This plant is so poisonous that ingesting only .5 gram dried or 2 grams of fresh leaf is enough to kill a person. When you combine that with herbs that may have expectorant or other properties and you could be courting a case of pneumonitis. To be fair, my doctor is an oncologist, not a respiratory specialist.

The temperature setting I use with the potpourri is between 85-95. I do use fan setting one. I am going to be buying a porous stone to buy to use instead (a piece of broken flowerpot would work well). I will then dampen the stone through and add the oil on top of the stone. A drop or two would work for a good while. Once I do that, I will let you know what temperature I use, if it is different.

If you want to have a stronger scent, you should use better oils. Also, the 50 degree potpourri temp they suggest is useless for any scent. Plus, the potpourri it shipped with had no scent. Mine is Green Tea, supposedly. The first time I used it, I dampened it with water, dried with a towel, added 3-4 drops of my oil, stirred it all up, and filled the bowl, but did not pack it down. You need to make sure to have air spaces between for the fan to blow the scents through.

How do you plug the whip if the mouthpiece is on one end and the elbow on the other? Or do you just pop the mouthpiece off and plug it when done using elbow pack?

For a lightweight like me, I'm a little nervous about trying that elbow pack ... sounds killer! ;) Maybe once I build a bit more tolerance ... but the top-shelf medical kush I have is a real ass-kicker! LOL Tread very lightly! ;)

No, leave the mouthpiece on, and slide the tapered stirring end into the mouthpiece. Like an old fashioned perfume bottle.

Oh, I see ... and then just leave the elbow pack on the bowl or do you take it off while the vape cools down (like I do my full bowl when I whip or balloon)?

I leave it on, but I am new and may be wasting. I find it gives me good vapor if I let it sit for a couple minutes. You can sort of see the vapor moving down the tubing, like when you breathe on a window.

how can i tell if my oil is any good or not. it smells pretty strong from the little bottle. i tried putting a couple drops on a cotton ball but i did it at 50 C as suggested but i guess it isnt hot enough like you said. i too would like to try a porous stone. i want to use my vape for all its worth.

I'm going to do some research and start a new thread concerning Essential Oils and other herbs. Not a a whole lot posted here and I know I have bookmarked a lil bit of info on this such as diff vape temps of herbs and oils.

Regarding the elbow pack method (cant wait to try!), how long before the screen gets cluttered with fine, sticky bits? I've already gone through one screen but if there is a way to really get em clean i'd love to know! If not, would any smoke/pot shop sell em?

Thx, wicked thread and prown to own an E!

Edit: whats a decent temp (in C) for the elbow pack?

How fine must the stuff be ground ? Like dust ?
I assume if the bowl is filled AND the elbow packed it could result in something scary ?

Gipson, use Iso Rubbing Alcohol. Let the pieces that are "dirty" sit. But don't dump the ISO cause you can let it evaporate and keep the honey that is left over. Honey is good for sleep and pain.

Gipson, try running a bit hotter temps, see my thread here http://www.fuckcombustion.com/viewtopic.php?id=32&p=63 post 1565, follow that and your elbow will stay perma clean with just tapping out at end of session required.

if you clean your screens with iso and kosher salt like you would any other smoking utensil, they become brand new :o
