Well, I've never gotten any vapor out of my unit at 200C. I hear you on it working differently in two identical sessions, but I never go that cold. Not saying you can't, and I'm certain some around here do. But I'm getting more and more convinced that slight inconsistencies from unit to unit exist.

I usually warm my unit up to the the 350C max (1st gen unit) and then back it down to whatever temp I use. My guess is you weren't as consistent as you think in warm up times for both the unit and the bowl and the herb. The other day I was warming my unit up and forgot about it. It must have had 40 minutes warm up and the herb was in the bowl and on there for 30 to 35 minutes. I ended up getting the thickest hits ever!

I actually watched the clock on the vapor, I really followed it because I wanted to show the non vapor smokers what it could do. What temperature does combustion begin? My unit goes up to 500farenheight, I thought thc vaporized at around 390?

180 - 200 C (356 - 392 F)

Remember that your Extreme is showing the temp of the heating element, not the bowl. And there are three different models with different sensor locations.

I set my unit at 350C because the bowl is going be about 100C cooler than the temp displayed. Then I back it down to 330C or 340C depending on the strain. I believe you have a newer unit than mine that either goes up to 250C or 260C max. It still works the same as mine, you just have a lower temp displayed...one that is closer to what mj actually vaporizes at.

My apologies, but I am going for the laziest of the year award, and I can't do that and convert your F to C at the same time! That CANORML temp lookup really took a lot out of me. :lol:

I doubt you have a defective unit...you probably just need to spend more time with it. How long have you had it now? It took me about a month of experimenting with the bags to feel like I had it down, and even longer for the whip.

So I got my extreme up and running, thanks sticks for the info. on the wiki...definitely a time saver. :)
I did have one issue with the screen in the bowl, it popped out after I set it down on the counter.
I tried to force it back down into place after it cooled down but didn't have much luck.
I took the screen and put it on the other side, which seemed to work ok.

I wanted to find out what others did to fix this problem. I tried searching in other extreme threads but didn't find much.

My screen popped out once, but i put it back in the same way and it hasn't been an issue since.

Somewhere around here is a pic of me changing the shape of the screen with my finger by sticking my finger in it and pushing the mesh to the side so it makes contact with the glass and causes more friction.

Help me vtac! I really tried to find it this time. I used the search and went through 28 pages of posts and everything!

Don't have a problem with the whip screen, but I'll keep this in mind or mod it anyway...

Oh, so you mean the screen that is in the bowl! Sorry...never had that problem.

For real? Man, I haven't been here in a while nor vaped (bad boy: I smoked!). Tired of that roach taste, I took out my Extreme from its box last night (2 months about) and was nicely vaped. I'm glad because I didn't get the couchlock thing even if it was indica. It gave me a nice energetic high. I guess my brain (and lungs) like it better now! I continued this morning and went on the site and saw this. Am I the winner hawhawhaw?
I didn't get a hold of that high quality herb but my own works real well as it's nicely cured now. I have to admit I AM high but I needed 8 bags (better than smoking anyway, it was vapor and not high temp "smoke"). How many bags do you need with a really good kind (less i suppose). I did enjoy every breath of them:p Any outdoor strains you recommend for vaping (next year's grow :cool:)? How's White widow?
I was so high last night I dropped and broke the pipe shaped piece you use for the bags. I use the whip tube for bags instead so it's ok. Do you have a link where I can buy it online?

rasp...I vape every night, but at night only. I will usually start off with two Extreme bags, then another two about an hour later (all from the same bowl). Then do it again a couple of hours later, if necessary, with a new bowl. I easily go through four bags a night and, these days, it's more like 6 to 8...but that's for the whole evening. I seriously doubt you don't feel anything until you have consumed 8 bags, but I could be wrong.

Thanks. I think I was doing the bags too light, that's why I went through that many. My herb is bagseed but is potent enough. This afternoon I went through 6 bags (but I only fill up the bowl to 1/4). Should I fill it halfway with higher temps? Until it really smells like popcorn and is yellowish? It's a nice machine anyhow. So any good strains for next year someone? Now I now that most people do 2-3 bags at a time. I'm just starting to use my unit so bare with me. I ain't a heavy smoker but needed that much to get up there with the settings and quantities I used.Thank you.

^ Yeah, I was going to say that my comment was really the kind I don't normally make. Posted too early in the morning I guess. Counting hits, bags, etc. is not something I like to get into, since there are too many variables involved-both vape and person. And with the Extreme's 3 fan speeds, you're even more likely to get varying results. Your 8 bags may be the equivalent of my 4. Bottom line, ignore my previous post.

When I reference one of my bags, it is full and plump. The density depends on the strain. I fill my bowl anywhere from 1/4 to 1/2 full. I find it is less efficient when I put more in, so I try to keep it at the 1/4 full level. I up the temp about 5 degrees for each successive bag. I never get a popcorn smell from my Extreme. I find the density of the bags differs from strain to strain. Max is right that the Extreme's versatility makes it easier to get varying results. Since you are new to the unit, have you read my sticky? It should get you up and running in no time and then you can tweak the settings the way you like.

BTW, some of the cheapest weed I get yields the thickest bags, so don't get caught up on that.

I read a sticky on vaporpedia, is that the one? My herb is pretty decent with crystals and it's sticky but it's not a dutch grade. I grew it myself so it's what I have for this year (10 ounces). I don't get a popcorn smell either but it doesn't smell like a roach burning. I have the newer unit and only went up to 230. I suppose 250 would be too much. Anyway, I'm playing with the temps these days, I'll find the good temp soon. If you have the link for that sticky, thanks much. Do you use fancy genetics in yours? How thick and what color is your vapor?

That was the right sticky.
I use whatever I can get...so I never know what it is.
My vapor is always milky white and the thickness varies depending on strain and vaporizer settings.
