The Extreme-Q Vaporizer

You'll get pair of everything (except stirring tool, control and the unit itself). The screen in the middle of cyclone bowl is 18mm, the second one is not simple looking.

Hello!

My Extreme-Q just broke:uhoh:, and I hope someone can tell me how to fix it.
It shuts down 1-2 sec after i turn it on.
Please help!

edit to add
I can hear a low hiss from the power supply before the vaporizor turns off. Maybe the PSU is busted?? The Extreme-Q works fine until it shuts down. I can operate the fan, temp, light, timer and audio.

I've found the connector to the adapter is getting out easily. When it is half-way out, it's turning the unit off in seconds.

Your're right, there is something up with that adapter. I'll try to get a new one at a local hardware store tomorrow. Thanks for helping!

I have the same problem with mine. Must be inherent with this model.... Cow-a-bunga.... your "Heating element might have gone out. Did you happen to drop it in any way? Any manner? When it's hot, if it's dropped or even heavily jarred, the heating element will burn out. Doesn't happen often, but it DOES happen. It should ALL be under warranty though. There's a "lifetime warranty" on the heating element, so they'll either send you the new part, or ask you to send yours in and they'll send you a new one. They'll do that a lot.

I went to the local hardware store, but they couldn't help me. They didn't have adaptors with 19v output, only 12v.

A home I found an old HP laptop power adapter with 19V 4,74A output and positive polarity. The plug didn't fit the extreme-q, so I cut the plug of the extreme-q adaptor and soldered it to the HP adaptor. I tested it for 2 minutes and it appears to be working. The original extreme-q adaptor is 19v 3.5A, anyone know if using an adaptor with a higher amp output will damage the vaporizer?

No. A device will draw only what it needs and no more, so hooking it up to something capable of delivering more amps does not matter.

So, I somewhat foolishly bought one off CL, it works fine, but I've noticed that it tastes a lot like tobacco when I use the whip... I 420 cleaner-ed everything twice have it sparkly clean. However I noticed that one of the cyclone chambers was covered in resin on the wrong side and when I popped open the bottom there was a lot of leftover tiny ground up bits of herb which leads me to believe that some tobacco may have been burned or stuck to the heating path!
Is there any way for me to clean this, or am I SOL should have payed the extra $200 to buy it at a local head shop :/

Should just need to buy new parts mate. I suggest taking this as an opportunity to buy new tubing that is much better than the stock tubing. I believe there is a thread dedicated to just tubing in one of the other sections. You can just get the glass parts you need; new cyclone bowl(s) and elbow(s) right off arizer's website.

any good idea on how to make sure that it is infact the glass and not coming from the heating element/airpath pre-external parts?

In retrospect I just tried the same product in my MFLB, and the taste was still there just a bit. maybe I'm just paranoid because I hate cigs so much :o

Take off all the glass, turn it on, and smell the heater?? I mean... it's not very hard, just use your common sense really. Other than that, I just suggest getting new glass parts and tubing. Some people vape tobacco, it hits you a lot harder (so I've read) than smoking it, but it really stinks up everything used in the process. The only reason the heater/the vape itself would smell is if the previous owner got tobacco inside the vape somehow. If all they did was vape it then there's no reason why any of the smell/taste should be anywhere else other than the glass/tubing.

Food for Thought on the Hidden Cost of Tubing

Resumed using EQV 20 days ago after returning VXC beta unit for tweaking. Today I replaced the tubing for the second time, also replaced 10 days ago. I buy this stuff in bulk from 7th Floor, 20 feet at a time for $26. Each section cost $3.71 and lasts me only 10 days. It may last you a little longer but 10 days is all I can take before I begin choking on the solidified vapor built up in the tubing.

So, the hidden cost for me of using a whip style vape is .37 cents a day or $135.00 a year. :uhoh:

Works great and only costs about $2 per section (since I'm only using it to connect to glass, I cut off 2-ft pieces as I find anthing longer than that is wasteful). Do you find it necessary to use it in 3-ft portions?

:peace:
Thanks Stu,
Can prolly economize with 2 foot sections, good idea! Don't like anything but clear tubing because I can see buildup in tube.

I have the same need to see my build up through the tubing...this made me almost not our chase new silicone tubing...I purchased 10 feet of 3350 tygon silicone from us plastics. It was an expensive purchase, but worth it IMO...

AND, even though the silicone is white, and does not appear to be transparent, you can very clearly see the build up...wether it be slight discoloration, or actual drops of Vape goo, it can all be seen easily.

Also, i use a 3 ft length as there is a little distance between my chair and the stand my vape is on. I dnt find it to be excessive, but i could see myself going with 2 ft if i didn't need the extra length for reach.

Yeah, the buildup is easy to see even though it's cloudy. This thread reminded me to change my tubing, so I took a before and after picture:
