The glowing coil I think is fairly common with e-elev8rs, I think it's from sections being in poor contact, unable to dump heat into the glass. I'm not sure if shimming with mesh will alleviate that, but it might. So would getting a better fit, but that's tricky. @Rodney, you've mentioned getting another from @VGOODIEZ; that should be better fit by more practiced hands. Hopefully between the better fit and gear you will not see much glowing at all. Nevertheless, if you can get a better fit on this one you should mitigate the glowing and increase the efficiency. You'd have a reliable backup.
I think you are correct, but I don’t have enough experience to answer with confidence. I bought mine secondhand, and the top coil is secured by a separate thin wire that makes a better connection with the glass. When mine heats up, it will glow but once it settles in at 450, there is no redness.

It’s pretty awesome. :)

By the way, for anyone that is in the market, there is one in the classifieds with a NV pid for $50, and I want to buy it just because it’s a great deal.

I hate to say this but I am having much more fun with less herb with this than my/our beloved Tinymight2.

As standard I was not that impressed with this and had a love hate feeling for it but after securing the coil with a few gauze and putting enought balls in it works much much better especially with small loads.

I've been having an issue with my DC Elev8r. On the PID, it says "EEEE" - sometimes for a few seconds, sometimes more. Then it will go back to the temp, then repeat. It seems like if I move the cord around or turn the vape upside down and move it some, it will do it less. Anyone know what this means? I did some searching, but didn't find much concrete info.

It probably means the cable is worn out or there's a bad connection
Most likely one of the five thin wires inside the sheathing has developed a crack inside from the fatigue of being used (moving the cable) and is opening and closing the crack as you move the cable around.

Yeah, I was afraid of that. It does it when it's just sitting there though. So more than likely, the coil + cord is just bad and I'd have to fit a new one on the Elev8r? GRRRRR.... :\:disgust:

The EEEE error got worse and I found the manual. It explicitly states if you get that error that the coil is going bad. So I bought another coil and Elev8r with ruby balls from the classifieds here. He got the coil and Elev8r from Vgoodiez. But now I would like to confirm if it will work with my old controller.

I have searched and it's not immediately obvious if it is safe to try. I don't want to break anything. Can someone help?

It looks like most of Vgoodiez's coils follow the same pinout pattern as Cannabis Hardware; that is, 1 and 2 are power, 3 and 4 are thermocouplers, and 5 is ground. I don't know what brand you've got there, but if you can find a diagram for the pinout, you can see if it matches. Cannabis Hardware lists compatible units here:

If you can't find the pinout pattern in your manual or online, it gets more complicated, but there are instructions here:

Good luck!

From what I can find, your PID is a brand used by KikVape. Their online description of the coil's pinout is unique as far as I know. You would need to rewire the coil yourself or buy a PID that will match up:
Standard pinouts, elev8r's pinout:

and the pattern for the KikVape coil:
Wiring: PIN 1:TC+ , PIN 2:TC-, PIN 3:Ground, PIN 4: Load1, PIN 5: Load2

I would get a Disorderly Conduction PID from @VGOODIEZ, it will be the correct wiring if the coil came from him, too.

All of our PiD's we sell have the same pin out so we avoid confusion and don't run into any compatibility issues with the gear that we sell.

Thanks for the replies and info, everyone. I appreciate it! In my research, I went back and forth on if it would work, but finally had to ask the experts here. :) I forgot to mention that I bought a B0 budget bundle from VGoodiez (with CT controller) and it will be here in a couple days, so I will just wait and use that controller.

coolbreeze, your first picture makes sense. But I don't understand what the second pic is for - "Pin out for Elev8r Enail" What pin out are you showing there? Thanks again.

I misread and thought you were using the elev8 coil so I included it to show which PIDs that one is compatible with.

Hey folks, as Neo would say to Trinity "A little help" please!
Why is it so difficult to get the flavor disk to release any vapor?
I'm using two Bernzomatic torches which works great for flower,
but I get no love with concentrates on the disk even after 90
seconds or more.
Get a bigger Torch?

I couldn't get those to work in the Elev8r either, and customer support stopped responding to me about it. It seemed like mine and the replacement they gave me were both not round enough to create a good seal in the bowl, too much air was going around them, and the Elev8r is not powerful enough to overcome that, seemingly no matter how much you heat it. I lost some respect for the Elev8 crew. Really don't think they should be selling and advertising those things, at least not for the Elev8r.

Wow
The disks that I have are fairly snug, and I just obtained a larger torch, so I'm going to give it a try.
The silence on the Elev8r people is concerning.

I would forget using the elev8r with concentrates, unless you're going to put a very small amount on top of some flower.

I am back to using the torch over all my electric heaters. I use an analog clock app for very accurate heating times, and once you get it dialed in, it is very consistent (awesome). It is an amazing combination of flavor, potency, and efficiency with a pure glass pathway that I haven't found in anything else I've used. :peace:

Nice, hopefully you can get something going then. I have seen a couple examples of people seemingly getting decent hits with it. I don't think it's happening with the ones I got though. Maybe I'll try it again some time and it just needs to be heated even more absurdly hot, which would demonstrate how heat inefficient this system is for vaporizing full melt concentrates.
