I have a question/concern. My new Air's battery takes a very long time to charge.
Any thoughts?
EDIT: Shortly after composing this post, with a fully charged battery (not plugged in), I began a session. A few minutes into the session, I plugged in the charger and finished the session. After the session, it took around half an hour for the blinking green light to become a solid green light.
OK, this is normal for this class of battery. It charges at a fairly high rate (say .8 Amps) for most of it's capacity. As it does so the voltage rises from something like 3.3 to 4.1 Volts or so. Up to about 85 or 90% of 'full'. Then the charge rate is lowered to keep the voltage from exceeding the limit allowed (4.2 typically). Because the rate is lower and dropping this takes a long time, between 20 and 30 minutes in my test. Half an hour to replace 10% of the total charge (what you'd use in half a load). You're just using the slow part over and over. You can get 90% of the charge in a couple hours, the last ten (the one you're using) takes half an hour each time. Discharging further before recharge can reduce this effect since you charge less often.
BTW, plugging it in while using really does little. The charger can only supply less than half the needed power, the battery is still being discharged (not charged), only discharging at about half normal rate. Doing this ('charge while using') when the battery is badly discharged can also cause damage. Batteries are cheap, but IMO this mode is not a good one to use.
Don't sweat the details, get to know and enjoy your new found vape buddy.
Nice thing is, you can always buy more batteries. I think I have 10.
10? Someone with more batteries than me? That makes me feel better.
Thanks.
Also, I'm having trouble unthreading the black mouthpiece from its stem. Can't do it. I currently have a wrench clamping the black piece, but I can't find anything to give me any grip/leverage to turn the glass, like a rubber band. I gotta figure there's at least one rubber band around here somewhere, but I can't find one.
What if I freeze it? Or heat it up in my oven? Or something like that? (Remember, my hands are probably much weaker than yours.)
We've been here a few times. Don't clamp on the plastic, guys have twisted the flat off the threaded part. Those that clamp on the round (although tapered) 'threaded part' actually end up distorting the cap and gripping the glass all the tighter. You need torque (tendency to rotate), not 'crush'. Rubber bands are the usual answer. If you don't have them handy, how about the mailbox or postman? My local guy gave me a handful a while back, it's mostly hanging on a hook. In past times, when I lived in an apartment, the communal mailbox always had some.
Otherwise, dish washing type gloves are a common substitute. You can also use tape, even 'scotch tape'. Warp it around the glass a turn or two 'glue down' (normally) then fold it over on itself and put a turn or two on sticky side out).
As a last ditch attempt, how about trying your lucky condom......right there in your wallet.....
I'd avoid cool, the plastic gets more brittle and shrinks faster than the glass so it gets tighter. Heat is not really all that useful since there's a 'springy' rubber gasket inside. It will fight you, you need to 'torque it off' it won't 'break free'.
Good luck with it, then again it's only a ten dollar part and you've got a spare/backup?
