Just ordered a vortex stem for the Air. Excited about the all glass, cool vapor possibilities.

They say 7 to 10 business days for shipping. Is that accurate? How long have orders been taking to the USA?
Damn I should have got the vortex stem as well and saved on shipping.
For mine they processed the order same day on march 17 and received it march 23. So slightly faster than they estimate. I am however located Midwest closer to Canada.

( no chips either :( )

At first I thought you meant cracks/chips in the glass:rofl:

Careful when cleaning out the mouthpiece. I just washed my silicone o-ring down the drain.

I also wore out the velcro on my carrying case included with the Air, it doesn't stick at all.

Arizer does not sell the silicone o-ring nor the case separately, just FYI.

On a related note, Arizer is running a 20% off sale on parts.

What's the deal with the dome screens? I've heard them mentioned but what's the benefit and where to buy?

Left to right
No2 screen, Ebay 1/2 inch dome screen, ebay 1/2 inch dome flattened, home made dome, home made dome.
Home made ones I used 5/8 screen and shaped and trimmed them.

Flattened Ebay dome cuts stem in half and no herb stuck around sides. I use this the most no stirring needed at all.

And No2 screen in mouth end of stem.

I use them in all my solo/Air stems, keeps bud out of mouth and when it clogs I stick it in stem and vape it. looks fudged up but fits in perfectly.

You can make the screens shape them over a sharpie and trim.
I made some with a deep well socket and a drilled hole in a 2x4 and just hammered it through
the softer the screen the easier it is to make.
But the stiffer the screen the longer it lasts and keeps its shape. The Ebay ones are nice and stiff.
@Ratchett was looking into making a screen press also.
but if you dont want to make em yourself the Ebay ones that @Sinclue came across are a great deal as long as you dont lose them you'll have more than you will need.

Ebay domed link, you can ask for any amount I bought 10 and got 12.

Me too. And the fabric is starting to rip in a couple spots.. But for now i just fold the strap behind the Air and this allows me to "holster" it with stems still connected... Which is nice, because taking a stem right after a 10 minute session on red and throwing it in your pocket is less than a perfect plan :D

Thanks man! I'll look into these.

No herb in your mouth and more evenly vaped. Is that the main benefits?

PV Finally had and 18mm GonG and a bent stem, both turbo and the bent is a shorty bowl. Not sure if I will like the turbo option for the bent stem, but pretty sure it will work well for the GonG as that is going to have a much longer air path when connected to bubbler. Now just need to wait for it.

In the mean time been enjoying my Air on day two packed it twice and just used blue and white. Love the taste on the lower settings and not to rough on my throat.

Great, thanks for the info Max. I've been waiting on a Gong and just ordered it from PV.

just got the vortex today, took foreveeeer. it doesn't seem to vape aswell as i thought it would have my abv still turns out to be a light tint of green after 2 sessions,.

I love the Planet Vape Vortex. They just sent me a new one in the mail bc my other had a small chip in it. Great customer service and the stem imo is amazing. I use a almost fine grind but not to fine , pack it and tamp it slightly and i get huge clouds and cool air hits through my entire session. it is becoming 1 of my favorite stems. I only wish it was a bit shorter so i can take it out with me.

I agree with you.

Seems like the Vortex lets too much air in.

Which IMO overwelms/saturates the herb.

Right off the bat. I took the course screen that comes with it out (which are smaller than normal).

I couldn't even get a regular Solo fine screen to fit in. Without cutting it.

Replaced it with the Sinclue domed screen. But put it in the basket way. Not domed.

ABV was a light brown throughout. With a darker brown closer to the oven.

I like how it fits in the Air. Not to loose and not to tight ( My PV 14mm gong has the tightest fit ). Plus I like how nice and thick the Vortex glass is.

But my straight PVHES stem hits way better.

Will do more testing to be sure.

I guess they figured you weren't all that, and a bag of chips.

Guess not.

I was looking forward to a snack at work.

Make sure when you use your Vortex stem along with your Air you don't pack your stem too tight. A light pack works best. I've had excellent results with mine. Large clouds and cooler hits. The Air seems a little hot for me on the higher temps. The Vortex with the thicker glass and extended air path works well for me.

Hi All

I've been lurking on this forum since I got my Solo last Nov, after just getting my first vaporizer( a G Pro) a month before. Then came the Air in January J which is now is my every day go to.

After 20+ years of combustion my lungs feel great, though it’s sometimes harsh on the throat and the irritation lingers. I was looking at water tools to cool down the vapor and after a great recommendation of the Planetvape Vortex stem by members here I got one and it works, but it’s definitely not stealthy.

Any other options that will keep the stealth?(I Live in NYC, not exactly pro pot) Thanks in advance.

Having to much airflow is easily solved by a twist of the Vortex stem. There are 4 holes in the heater and 4 in the stem , twist it and inhale until you feel less airflow, this way the 4 holes of the stem don't match up with the 4 holes in the heater. It's as easy as that , that is the great thing about these stems , you can control your airflow.

First off, howdy, welcome to the Forum. Great choice with the Air, but I guess you've figured that out already.......

On the WT front, how about:
0UpeNOl.jpg

It's a little smaller than the Air itself, and is discussed here:

Yeah, I've been doing that with all the PVHES since the Solo days.

The Vortex still has way to much air flow for me.

I think what you said is also a good rule of thumb for all stems of the Air, and it's good advice for new users. I've realized that I get bigger, thicker clouds when I pack it more loose than tight. You also run a chance of uneven vaping if you pack the bowl too tight. And a loose(r) pack eliminates the need to stir the bowl between rips. There is a sweet spot however; you can't pack it too loose, or your bowl will be toasted too quick. But in general - looser is better than tighter.

Are there solo length stems made specifically for the air yet? I saw a post from someone saying the original stems would work but since it's not a perfect fit they would wear the ring out. I saw replacement 70mm stems but nothing solo length.

PV said that they will be coming out with a bent stem and a GonG that's the Vortex style because they have been selling so many of the straight stems. I prefer a bent stem in my Solo, so am looking forward to that. I haven't seen them up yet the last time I checked. I did buy a couple more of the Vortex stems since they had them in stock and also some caps.

They defiantly aren't the stealth way to go.

Do what works for you. We all have our favorite way to use our vaporizers. Just make sure you Fuckcombustion.

EDIT
Try a slower draw with the Vortex stems. I always say slow and steady wins the race.;)
