$44.99 for a official charger from Arizer? This price kind of forces a person to seek alternatives.

I knew the charger would be on the expensive side so I decided to use an alternative regardless what Arizer is offering. I'm using the Nitecore IntelliCharger i4 Battery Charger and I think it is fantastic. I seriously doubt there will be any issues at all. Except one, the IntelliCharger i4 costs only $16.50.

:2c:

Went ahead and bought the i2 when I saw the price of arizers charger

well I bought it last night, hope someone can respond to my earlier post about this vape. I was curious if this is easy to use (I only had iolite) and any special techniques and would I have to teach people how to use it if i want to share?

Nope, all you do is pull. Incredibly easy to use.

says nothing about 3rd party batteries or charger otherwise I wouldn't have asked. I am reading the thread again and see some people bought the Nitecore charger from amazon,
http://www.amazon.com/NiteCore-Inte...Charger+i4+Battery+Charger&pebp=1419008680736
so I was wondering about the batteries.. if they got links to them perhaps? maybe I should just buy it from arizer directly. Its good to have options you know?

Everyone is waiting for the unofficial forum battery expert @CentiZen to do some testing before making a determination if 3rd party batts are safe, proper testing takes time. Until then buy arizer's batts. Boy am I a vape geek, I don't even own an AA and I know the answer. Time to get a life.:evil::evil:

Hey Chainfire, I agree the backup battery is a must. I just received my order for the high temp caps OF is referring to. After a dip in hot water for a couple minutes they fit like a glove.
Wgh4TNR.png

the pack came with 100 so I'm offering to send a few out for free to anyone that wants them. PM me if you're interested.

[edit: Oh yeah, I was disappointed with the air flow as well but now I lift the stem up just a hair and it is a big improvement, as far as air flow.]
-------------------------

I also need to clean that stem. what's the easiest way to get some goodies back out of it? ISO wash?
Bro can you please send me some? :) they look really good and I would really appreciate that!
Thanks!

FWIW, that's a lot of bucks for the mains charger......I wonder what's so special?

Definitely seems like a bit of a price-gouge when you consider those Nitecore chargers are ~ $20 for a 4 battery capacity charger. Hopefully they can clarify the reason behind the inflated price on that charger, but at this point I'm thinking I will stick with the official Air batteries but go for the Nitecore charger.

There are lots of lower priced chargers around, but price is not the only factor worth considering I think. For instance, there reports of failure to terminate charge with a member recommended charger a bit ago? Since this is a non protected battery that could be a very serious failure indeed. Past destroying the battery (and a charger you probably don't want anymore) there's a real risk of fire in such cases.

I'm not sure I'd call it price gouging or inflated until I learned what charger is being suggested and why. Then I think we can check the 'street price' and make a more informed decision. It may well be a 'bean counter driven' attempt to make more money, but IMO once a maker raises safety issues careful sailing is called for until you know where the rocks might be?

If I had a charger I trusted (which I do), I might think about trying it (although I'm not, I'm using the unit to charge) but at this point I wouldn't buy a charger until more is known. I agree about the battery, for now the factory battery is doing just fine (I have two), and the extra cost over other 'top picks' isn't a deal breaker for me......yet.

That's exactly what I did. I bought two spares from arizer and the nitecore last night

Regarding the charger.
It's always good to play it safe and all but $45 is IMO, a little steep.
Will have to wait until Arizer posts the specs or someone to report them to be sure nothing odd is happening. Meanwhile, IMO, using "known safe", dual intelligent chargers should not be any problem. Definitely not good to experiment on un-knowns.
OTOH, my darker side found the following.
I know the cosmetics can be similar between chargers but in looking closely at the Arizer charger and googling dual 18650 chargers, I found the brand HXY on a few sites, with Fasttech being the cheapest.(of course)
I looked and looked but cannot see any differences cosmetically. The specs are actually not bad neither. isolated 1 amp per side. Now the cut off is a little concerning at 4.22 volts. Pushing the battery to really max out the mahs. Hmmm, what's the logic. :hmm:
I will not advise anything here but just passing on the information.

More data needed.

Very interesting. That 'slight overcharge' is exactly what I measured on my Air's internal charger. A few times at 4.22, probably averages closer to 4.23, one at 4.25. If that's the plan, it'll give us a few percent more run time (say a minute or two?) but it's gonna kill the cells off faster in exchange. Something I think many might want to consider?

Long battery lifespan doesn't make sales, but longer run time sure does....... I know, for instance, that was one of the features TV tested a LOT of chargers looking for, they wanted one that came as close to 4.20 as possible without ever going over. They too were under pressure for longer run times with Cera.

I agree, more data is needed to make an informed choice.

Thanks, Pipes. I assume you've ordered one to compare to the one you ordered from Arizer? Don't be shy with what you find..........

Gentle Friends,

I've been playing with the vinyl caps used as 'travel caps' to cover loaded stems. I've got a couple of suggestions for modifications:
WgOYSb5.jpg

On the left you can see how I cut a short piece of 3/8 ID Silicone tube (a tiny bit longer than the cap is deep). Putting this inside a cap makes a very useful cap for the MP end of the stem. Easy to poke on the tapered MP and being forced out of round in the process it springs back and firmly grips and seals. You can easily lift the Air by it, and gentle blowing/sucking confirms no leaks. This basically stopped the Air in my shirt pocket from smelling enough for me to notice, and it of course keeps it clean and lint free between uses. The length showing on the cap on the stem is the longest I'd recommend, half that length works fine, if not better.

On the other end you'll notice a short cap? I stuck it on the stem then rotated the cap against a utility knife, slicing down to the glass) about half way up. It holds plenty tight but is much easier to get on and off now. Since it's thicker at the mouth, it's easier to snag with your thumbnail.

once today when i powerd on the AA i got double blue lights. the blue was a paler or maybe more "pastel" blue than the one that is used for the first setting or the heating up indicator. If it happens again i'll remember to snap a pic but has anyone else encountered this? Any indication as to what it could mean?

i do know that the device was "locked" in that it wasnt heating and i couldn't change the heat setting. turning it off and on again resolved the issue

I'm confused. Is Arizer not selling the Air stems with the black mouthpiece to e.g. Solo owners?

The other thing that I don't understand: Seems to me the big milky clouds thing that keeps coming back is another combustion holdover. Are people really "getting" anything more out of vaping bigger clouds with less taste? My impression is that if I'm up on clouds and down on taste, I'm just roasting the herb, and what I get is dull-head. Anyone?

Awesome mods to the caps OF. I had some 3/8 ID tube from my herbalizer so I got right to it when I saw your post.

I shoved a slightly oversized piece of tube in the cap (only works well with a fresh cap that hasn't been heated and stretched over a stem) and it stuck well. then I sliced off the remainder and it came out looking pretty slick and stays together well.

Outstanding. Thanks for the feedback. I too used a fresh cap, I didn't even think about a stretched out one not gripping the tube well, I'll know to avoid it.

I figure you've also discovered it's really easy to poke it on (and have it stay) and pinching the cap to flatten it out a bit makes it very easy to slip it off (as it releases the grip on the edges of the MP)?

Since you have a few spare ones, you might try slicing half or so off one? I found it made the stiff caps much easier to deal with getting on since the cavity was more shallow and therefore the mouth couldn't collapse so much and fight back as hard.......

Thanks again.

I guess you don't need to have anything else than money (or a credit card) to buy, do you?

Funny how that is sometimes, isn't it?

You know what they say, 'cash makes no enemies'.

Did You try buying an Air stem/mouthpiece from Arizer? I would assume anybody would be able to buy whatever accessories they wanted on the Arizer online store. Unless they are low on supply?

A person can get large clouds and big flavor. I do get larger clouds with the Solo.

I get good flavor and stealth with my new Air. Plus it medicates well. A very nice portable to consider, especially if you need to have your meds close at hand.
