I received my new PVHE GonGs today, both a 14mm and a 18mm. Both have the Turbo option. Basically a thin glass ledge to hold a screen, 95% open.
They also have the channels cut in the outside, and the groves on the end.

I have tried them both now, and can compare them to my original PVHE GonG. The airflow is obviously increased significantly. My biggest issue is the tight fit of the 18mm GonG in my Air. It was difficult to insert the first time, with the unit fully heated. It has since gotten a bit easier but that just means the gasket/seals have stretched. Unfortunate.
I originally got a 14mm GonG to work with a PNWT and through a bubbler using a 18mm-14mm reducer. When they got new stock at PV I decided to get the 18mm to try it without the reducer, why not get the turbo option to increase airflow?
After initial testing I think the 18mm GonG has too much airflow. At least for the Air to keep up. I got much lighter vapor using this stem. Even on red.
I then tried the new, turbo 14mm GonG. And it blew serious clouds! Hardcore, lung busting, insane clouds!

14mm PVHE Turbo GonG is my new favorite!

I got one of those PVHE 14mm turbo GonGs coming. I wish it was shorty tho. I have an PVHE 18mm shorty GonG already(works amazing) and the opening of the GonG is much wider than a 14mm GonG I own. Which is why I tell people to get the 14mm and get a flush adapter If you need to adapt up. To apapt down from 18mm isnt as smooth looking and adds too much height. :2c:

A while back, Brother Sinclue posted a link for some first rate, preformed screens that do exactly that (reduce the volume) in a very neat fashion. They are much heavier than the screens normally used, hold their shape well and have a perfectly formed lip (unlike the ones you make by hand). This means they'll stay put, something normal screens don't seem to want to. There's a photo of one installed in an Air stem in the link below:

PV sells regular gong for the Solo/Air, so i'm not sure why everyone is going for the PVHES gong's, when they were originally designed for the severely restricted Solo (pre 2014). With the Air having even more improved airflow than the 2014 Solo, I would assume that the PVHES would be way overkill for the Air. When I owned the Air, I used epicvape's adjustabowl gong (18mm) and had mixed experiences because each gong fit just slightly different. It all depended on my draw.

I don't want to discourage anyone from buying the PVHES, I just think fair warning is required for those seeking that "extra" airflow, that may sacrifice clouds and vapour density.

so yesterday I was standing outside with the smokers, vaping, we headed back inside and the weed was pretty much done vaping, so I blew out the stem... and then it slipped from my hand, hitting the pavement shattering the bowl-part and cracking the rest.
so now I'm back to 1 stem, the one without mouthpiece.

looking forwarde to when ed producing some stems specifically for the air, at least those are unbreakable... but in the meantime it's a nice excuse to order a gong, if I'm getting a new stem anyways... especially now that I know how easy it's to accidently drop them, I need backup-stems

I know the pain, Bro.

After being inspired by Steama's mod on his stem, I "broke" out an older Solo stem and a heavy duty cutting wheel, and went at it with my Dremel. For the practice, and just in case.

Managed to cut the 4 notches on the end, and scratching my head about the loo-ong air "veins", I thought I would wait, putting the partially worked stem in my jeans.

Later, when I was changing pants, I heard a "clink"!

Well! So much for my first attempt. Lucky it wasn't one of my precious "shorty" stems!

But, PV only markets their HE GonGs for the Air. You have to go to the Solo page to find the standard GonG. The less informed masses may not know it will work.
I bought my original 14mm PVHE GonG as a Solo accessory. And it works great in the Air, not even a tight fight.

Whoa! Looks like FleaBay has the shorty Air stem listed. Only $12.
& only $25 mailing, from OZ!

Ironic.

bet my airveins are bigger? :p

already ordered 2 new ones, from a dutch shop so should be here within 1-2 days.
and at home I prefer the all-glass one mostly anyway(if I'm not using my UD), but for going out I prefer the shorty with mouthpiece, also partly because the bowl is a bit smaller, because it sucks when everyone goes inside because the joints/cigs are all burned up, while my vape is still pumping out plenty of vapor. the shorty-bowl is just the right size that I can finish before the joint has burned up.

At least you guys are breaking them attempting beneficial mods and not just throwing them through the air

Heard back from Aroma-Tek.... YEP, on a SUNDAY at that.. Here is what they said....

Hello,

Thanks for contacting us and we're sorry to hear that. You may be able to manually reset your Air. Please try the following:

Plug the charger into the wall outlet
Plug the charger into the AIR unit
press and hold both buttons for approximately 4 seconds
wait for 10 seconds then unplug from charger

If this doesn't resolve the problem and it's consistently doing this we can provide our return instructions so we can test out the unit.

I gave it a try and the unit is running fine again thankfully. Granted i didnt test the unit this morning before the manual reset so it could have just cooled off enough and went back to working properly.. Then again it could of just needed a reset. LOL

Either way my AA is back operational now, and from now on after the 2nd (back to back) session i will turn it off and give it a break instead of running it 4 times consecutively. That should increase the life of the unit hopefully.

Have to give props to Aroma-tek for helping me get things situated even on a Sunday though.

^^^ Are you using the silicone sleeve too?
If so may help to pull it down so the first set of grill is exposed.

No i dont use the sleeve at all. I ordered the black one but it gets to be a PITA to put the AA in and out the holster and pockets.

Great news. I think you should also contact them and tell them their advice seems to have helped. Such feedback might encourage them to offer that useful advice to the next poor soul with a similar problem?

OF

I most definitely will email them back to inform them it helped, I just want to run it through a few sessions first to make sure it doesnt start doing it again. Its only been through 1 session so far today, but it did work great then. But i will for sure update them today!!

Good info . Def add this to the best of thread to help everyone out. Glad your back up running again .

I did, and was involved in much of the beta testing. I prefered the stock stems, as I always received fuller denser vapor. I just like them as they were designed/intended...just different strokes for different folks. I would only consider PV regular gong for the Solo/Air. My epicvape e-nano gong's work awesome as well (full open bore turbo). Airflow can so easily be manipulated by just slightly tilting them, although one is snugger (and thus tight draw) than the other (way more open).

I don't have an air... yet, but what I found with my solo is that the pvhes stems were great when the unit was new and the seals were tight etc but after a month or 2 the stock stems had plenty enough air flow and gave much better hits. YMMV.

*shrug* If I tip my stock stem and don't have super-hugging red ring installed I tend to get the same effect. I do acknowledge that this works for me and might not for others, nor merely being a preferred method. I think some folks mod themselves to the point they need a mod to regain normal functionality, but that may just be my amused twisted outlook ;)

If it makes you happy, do it!
Happy > Usefulness > Ritual > "Logic"

Edit: *Embarrassed shrug* Just noticed I was in the Air, not the Solo thread... Vape on, fiends! Still looking to get my own Air!
