Haven't been on the site that regularly over the last year but I dropped by for an FC tour to see what is new .......and this vape looks very nice indeed!

This forum is awesome. You look away for a few months and come back to it and there is always something new and interesting on the horizon.

This vape looks like a winner and also something that I would like to add to my collection when it becomes available for sale.

If there is some sort of list for early orders at some point, please add me to it and PM me to let me know and that will get an email to me ......as I am not on this site regularly anymore. Probably because I am very happy with my current line up of vapes......however, this vape, as well as the FlowerPot (which is a completely different niche) have really caught my attention.

But after seeing this vape, as well as a couple others in development, maybe I will be dropping by more often to check on the progress of the new vape tech being developed :)

Again......very nice work @supershredderdan !

I just went to your site @supershredderdan and saw that you have a sign-up list there and provided my information. I should have checked this out before my last posting.

This vape is potentially a game changer and I've been looking at mods in advance of the product release as it could be used for this vape, or some of the other unreleased 510 based vapes with threads on FC!

I am liking the Sinuous Ravage 230 from Wismec as a mod to drive this vape.

I am not sure if you have already listed the dimensions but I am also wondering what diameter the mod.

I am seeing someone saying "still a 24 mm base" but am not sure if this is still correct for the prototype that you've shown or even the final vape where you are talking about a thinner walled unit.

The Ravage 230 will take a 28mm base perfectly and even a 30mm base will be just slightly, almost imperceptibly proud of the mod width.

I am also wondering when you think this vape might be released?

Sorry, that was a placeholder, site is still being worked on

Correct, 24 mm base and about 65 mm tall. Never had any plans for a wall unit. I'm only gonna start selling/preselling once I have a consistent, reliable, high performance product. Every step of development has taken longer than I'd hoped so I'm less inclined to give an ambitious launch date that may not be feasible

@supershredderdan, extremely impressive. Did you happen to make note of how much you loaded in the bowl? Because your hits keep going on & on with solid vapor. Don't understand mods yet, but I'll learn. So what mode were you using? And please throw out settings like wattage, volts, resistance, etc.

Also, amazon has a silicone sleeve for my mod, so I'm wondering how much a silicone layer would help with shielding the heat from the mod. :\

No exact measurements, but this load was lightly tamped packed to the top so I'd say around .2-.25

Using the wismec predator 228 with Arctic Fox fw installed, here are my settings:

I'll try that silicon case for sure, been also thinking of designing a silicon sleeve for the modpod body itself in addition to thinning out the body. Open to suggestions

Here is something I've been trying, surrounding the body and mouthpiece in silicon for longer sessions and easier detatching from the mod when hot. Thinking of incorporating a silicon sleeve for the next Prototype body in addition to thinner walls. Would love feedback for how a design like this could be implemented or improved on.

Why would you want to detach from the mod and especially when hot? In my experience, these 510 ports are the Achilles' heel and the least you use them the better. In the e-cig world many recommend to stick one RDA to one mod and to not swap at all.

510 extenders / heatsinks can help somewhat... but still, proper TC operation is overall super finicky.

My brand new evic Primo mini was used solely with the iHeat and in about one month of use started developing issues that I traced down to the 510 port. Now it's almost unusable in TC mode, as even blowing on the attachment makes the resistance reading change... And the atty was not unscrewed that many times really.

In keeping with the rest of the design to be a companion to the mod. Many people already have a box mod and juice tank or rda they would switch out for the modpod. Resistance consistency is dependent on the strength of the + and - connections which can be improved by adjusting the center pin (often with a flathead) I've been constantly swapping attachments since I started vaping and there is always a way to restore a solid connection for accurate resistance.

If you feel better keeping one atty per box that's totally fine and probably does extend the longevity of the connections, but the option is there

So what the differnce between stempod and modpod?

Will you still be able to use stems in the modpod?

You say 100% SS - but whats the white tube on top?

The StemPod is for use exclusively with glass stems and has fewer complex moving parts, making it easier to produce at this stage. The ModPod will do everything the StemPod does but also have our custom pods, a more intricate build deck, the airtight storage cap, drip tip compatibility, and cooling chamber. All these features need more time and money to refine, so StemPod is our way of delivering the most important features while still being producible in low quantities for a fair price while funding ModPod. ModPod will still feature modular configurations such as a stem adapter.

the white tube is a 3d print of our design, which will be manufactured out of SS 316

To be honest i think i prefer the sound of stempod to modpod. I like using stems. You can cap and preload.

Will it come with a srem?

(to be fair, you can preload a bunch of pods too)

Nice work @supershredderdan! Glad you and RBT have been in touch, this should be a good way to spur product development with both seed money and some broader real world useage. And all the pros you list definitely make the ModPod feel like a proper evolution worth waiting for, but yeah let people run wild with the basics of the StemPod in the meantime!

Oh, is there a broader company name you are going to use for the line? Or is it kind of like
"The ModPod StemPod" ? Good luck!

I don't use my 100% stainless steel custom dry herb attachments much at all these days, I kept burning my fingers on the exposed hot metal shell. I do burn my fingers on the all-glass Project Pure SF, but less badly, and at least it fits in my side-by-side design mod, so it's more or less shielded inside the mod cage.

SS has a much higher thermal conductivity coefficient than glass and ceramic. It will surely make a nice heat reservoir to smooth temperature variations out, but it will in counter-part be much more inefficient (cf. the exact same discussion but reversed in the iHeat 510 thread recently)

I also like stems because of the ability to use hemp fibre. I am sensitive to particulates. I like the stem pods reduced size.

I am also concerened about the short vapor path on the modpod, and the large bowl. Not in to big lung bursting rips.

However stempod looks cool - ill preorder if the chance arrises.

That's what the silicon outer sleeve will be for, we will be working on a cast for it this week.

@supershredderdan how do you find Arctic Fox on the Predator? I’ve had my eye on that mod but saw that it can struggle a bit with temp control.

Works just as well as the evic mini or rx2/3 but has a few small quirks. Sometimes the screen flips upside down on a restart but solid accuracy and performance.

Yes, it will come with a 18mm to 14mm stem shown in the pictures.

I'm honestly not sure, I'm open to input on branding direction. Not sure "ModPod StemPod" is preferable but our website and insta are branded ModPod Labs (for SEO) but I was thinking of naming the company Project510 or something similar. If we just continue with branding as ModPodLabs then I could see this product as "the MPL StemPod". Again, open to suggestions.

Not crazy about Project510 as Pipes' 510 mod is called The Project. I guess it doesn't really matter.

 on the interim stem pod project. Looks great :nod:Thought of doing 18mm ss stems for it?? Just an idea... dunno how feasible it would be, maybe they'd get too hot? :hmm:

Area 510 Labs/inc/corp or whatever might be an idea for a better choice than "project" (for the above stated reasons).

Or stick with modpod maybe, it has a ring to it... :D
