I'm not using an AF compatible mod. I don't think it's the wrong value, but yes probably the coils. Again that's why I asked for specific coil recommendations, but aside from recommendations for the mesh heaters and thick gauge wire, no one has been able to recommend prebuilt coils that I could just order.
Alright, I'll try to help, You can try this (316L 22ga - add a wrap or two if needed) or this (6 probably) for starter. Although I highly recommend coil your own with 316L wire. It's much cheaper, easy to do, you can experience with different types of heater and number of wraps, and you have lots of wire haha. But anyway it's gonna be much harder to set up the TCR without watching the resistance as it changes while heating the coils. I'd spend that $40 to get AF compatible mod.
BTW, can you give more info about your current setup?

Thanks for the links, they look very similar to coils I've already got, not tried putting extra coils in them though.

Currently running the Stempod on an Aspire NX100. Also you might be right about getting an AF compatible mod.

I wish I could've help you to make it work with what you already own... Basically, we should pursuit the resistance you're at while hitting at wattage and search the correspond TCR value , but idk how you should do that without actually tracking the resistance. You can try and use some ohm calculators but idk how accurate it'll be.

I don't understand what you mean by pursuit the resistance while hitting at wattage. Do you mean to check what wattage it doesn't glow at and find a corresponding TCR value?

The mod uses the resistance to calculate the tempature. So when you're taking a draw on watts, the coil probably "sits" on a kinda fixed resistance with a little changes based on your draw (and wattage). With AF, I can see the resistance rises and changes while heating and hitting respectivally, so when I'm taking a strong hit and look at the resistance while hitting, I'm finding the upper limit that I need, so I'm searching the TCR value that will give me that resistance while putting kinda high temp, like, 220C or so, so it'll actually be my upper limit (ofc, I'm checking that the coils aren't glowing at this resistance).

Yeah I figured I'd just keep playing with the settings until I found something that was producing vapor but no glow.

simba,
Yeah, but you can use ss316l coils with TCR, and you'll avoid glowing too without the sacrifice of heating time like those ceramic heaters.

Have you tried a spiral coil? I found it to work pretty well with velocity decks.
Spiral coil like one posted just earlier?

This reminds me to show a pic of another coil design that can maximise the coil space in the stempod with 24-26 gauge or 20-22 to take the build space the limit but with the 22g it needs literally just 1mm extra head room above the coil posts and screen to avoid shorting, maybe 20g version is too chunky not sure not available in my country. A spacer or oring around the stempod deck to lift the chamber up 1mm can do the trick though maybe not ideal? And to make the coil it’s definitely harder than the average coil it’s fiddly, you need a diy coil jig (just simple 2 nails/posts and a piece of wood) have to take a pic too of it.

I just simply don’t have time to try this for a while but hope others can try it to see if it’s good, it’s on paper much better than the 22g twisted coil in my earlier post.

No, spiral coil like this one:

For some reason, the image at my previous comment doesn't load for me. Do you still see the image?
Anyway, It works great on my RTA DIY, I'm waiting for a 18mm stem to arrive so I can test this heater at a setup more similar to a stempod.
Yes I saw the image and was interested in it.

Just had some success this weekend with my Stempod! For anyone that’s interested
Finally sat down with my juggernaut SS 316L wire and made some 6 wrap coils, installed tubo for temperature cruise control and dialled in the wattage.. guuuuuys this thing slams.
My firewood 7 has been my favourite for a year now, with my vong + Fmj combo cloooose behind, this has instantly shot past both, more vapour production, so easy to use with just double click to get to temp, packing the glass adapter without bothering with baskets so can have a huuuge bowl.
Yeah, happy vaporist over here, think my vas just died

How’d the spiral coil design go with the Stempod? Looks very similar to the tinymight’s coil
I'm not sure you'll actually need that tbh. I'm using the almost same setup as you (staggered fused Clapton, 5 wrap coils) and it works so good. They sits so well near the airports too that I don't feel the need for that huge spiral to make sure the air's heating up. Forthurmore, theoretically I think that these style of coils (ecig coils) will use less battery while heat better because of the shape of the coil. The air travels near the hot heating element for longer than for example the spiral coil.

Yeah it’s working pretty well, I guess what you’re saying does make sense, travelling through a vertical circle would give more chance for the air to heat than a horizontal one.

Ooo googled staggered fused Clapton’s and they look so cleeeeaaan compared to the juggernauts. Might have to give those a try too! Do you find they add any taste to the vapour?

I have played and played with different coils.

In my opinion solid wire performs just as good. Also there is a certain risk associated with Clapton's and similar. The smaller wires may vaporize and end up in your lungs.

This has been pointed out by @KeroZen, and I have taken his advice. Not worth the risk.

Good point. Currently I only have 20ga that I find too hard to coil the traditional way, so I might order 24ga or something similar. What ga are u using?

That’s a very fair concern.

I had been enjoying my setup, until I caught a cold and got a chest infection so haven’t been vaping for a couple days.

Would anyone here think that the juggernaut SS wire (bought from recommended vape supplies) could vaporise and end up in your lungs?

Almost 100% sure its unrelated to my Stempod, as everyone around me has been getting sick, however won’t know until I test again.

Any recommendations on solid wire? When looking it up I’m not sure what mm thickness or resistance (ohms) to look for
