200F is about 93.3C

the more bio-active cannabidiol (CBD), Cannabinol (CBN), and delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) do not vaporize until near their respective flash points: CBD 206.3C (406.34F),[6] CBN 212.7C (414.86F),[7] THC 149.3C (300.74F)

Source: http://www.chemspider.com/Chemical-Structure.15266.html

I am not sure how cool the vapor gets as it travels from the herb to the whip,

but I would assume it would be pretty close to or higher than 93.3C (200F)

at the very beginning of the whip? (if you draw real fast?)

Since the hot air should have been set approximately to 212.7C (414.86F) for optimum vapor.

Or at least 190.6C(375F) - PD temperature I think.

Just guessing here...

Why would you use silicon tubing instead of the vinyl tubing that they supply? If they deemed silicon to be better tubing they would have supplied it because it is very cheap, but they upgraded you to vinyl.
Silicon is much better tasting. The down side is that it gets dirty a lot faster than the vinyl, so probably are going to want to change it out much more often. It is a matter of personal preference, but for me the taste of the vinyl is very off putting.

It is in fact heat resistant to a higher temp, but the vinyl tubing should be heat resistant to around 200 degrees Fahrenheit, and I'm pretty sure you aren't inhaling vapor at 200 degrees.
Not on the mouth end of the tube, but on the wand end it would be over that.

However, it appears to me that I purchased the wrong size; the hose is too big and needs to be "squished" on a side to fit into either of my two wands, leaving a gap.
That should fit. What if you wet the wand and the tubing, then try inserting it? It can be a tight fit, so squishing the tubing down then rotating it around a bit until it unfolds seems to work well for me, but it needs to be wet in order to accomplish this.
Yup. Got it a little wet and slipped right in. (lol...)

Thanks, I don't know why I didn't think of that.. I immediately wrote it off as wrong size when it didn't fit into both of my wands.

As far as I know it's always been hit and miss. I've personally never have had problem with ordering anything from them (shipping to Canada too!) and I've done so about 5 times now. Others haven't been so lucky. How will your experience turn out? Only one way to find out... ;)

Alright, alright, so I admit it. I've been stalking vaporizer forums for over a week, and it is decided: I am buying a vaporizer within the next seven days.

The funny thing is, I've ripped a vape once before. I loved it, but that was about seven months ago, and here I am, about to drop at least $160 on one. Funny thing is, if I remember it correctly, it was an SSV.

I've recently been picking up extra hours at my job on campus (senior at university) and I am due for a fat paycheck next week. Plus I saved the previous one. So I've pretty much narrowed what I'm getting down to the DBV or the SSV. (Unless someone has another suggestion for me.) I want a whip-style vape, obviously, but there's just a couple things that go back and forth in my head:

I really like the heater angle of the SSV, and I also like that it is not hands free. I'm not sure how much I like having to rotate the bowl around the heater, but I guess I'd just get used to it. I also like what I hear about some of the SSV's other features, such as the ease of replacing screens, and having custom glass would be pretty cool. What attracts me to the DBV, however, is obviously the lower price, and its utilitarian looks. I like just the straight-up metal dial, and the way the whole thing looks. I'm not sure if hands free would be my style. I can imagine knocking the thing over by accidentally hooking the whip, or the whip falling out and cracking on a table (Beezleb: read your suggestion about the mouse pad, but it's not something I think I want to worry about.) I figure I wont need hands-free since I'm probably going to want to stir up the herb after each hit anyhow. I've also heard that the SSV is more reliable than the DBV, even if by a margin.

Is it at all a pain in the ass to keep having to hook and unhook the wand from the heater of DBV?

I feel as though hands-free wouldn't be as good for me, since I don't typically smoke a lot in one sitting, thus taking away needing to have the bowl connected all the while. I LOVE ganja, but I'm more the stoner that likes to rock a nice and easy, steady buzz (when I hit my pipe, I go generally between 1-3 hits. I like to be out and about and moving, experiencing the world when I'm high... never liked getting baked and sitting down or watching tv), so probably one solid vapo draw would do me just fine... assuming it's not the weekend :ko:

On one hand, I think, "Shit, I can put the money I'd save with buying DBV towards another sack of herb!" and on the other, I think, "If I'm going to spend over a hundred bucks on a vape, I may as well go the extra few yards and get an SSV."

So I guess I'm leaning towards the SSV, but there's still that sliiight bit of doubt that has prevented me from charging this to my credit card tomorrow.

Well there you have it. I'm a loner stoner and I love to be active while I'm baked, so I think the kind of high a vape gives me would be conducive to my style. However, there will never be a replacement for a nice j in the car, and I will always come back to my fucking awesome, beloved first and only spoon-pipe, Jamal, from time to time... not to mention my trusty bong, Bowser.

Happy to be joining your ranks! Thanks for reading my wonderings.

Welcome to FC, Jambowser.

Standard vs hands free really comes down to personal preference, but you'd likely be fine with either. Personally I like the added interaction of the standard connection. If you're able to use two hands with a pipe and lighter you'll have no trouble, it's a similar feeling, which some enjoy recreating.

It does sound like you've done your research, but from your described usage patterns (quick, solo sessions) maybe another model would better suit you. Something more akin to a pipe, such as the launch box, perhaps?

If you haven't already, check out our list of recommend dealers for some nice discounts. Enjoy the clouds.

that's exactly what i wasthinking vtac. unless you can just leave it out on the coffee table, a whip vape is going to be a bit of a chore to set up and break down just to vape a single bowl. I might suggest the Launch Box or the VapeMan.

Thanks for the suggestion, guys. I thought about a portable vaporizer, but I really don't want to deal with butane or batteries. (If I'm smoking on the run, I'd rather just use my piece.) Plus, while I do like to take just a couple puffs and then go for a walk, I'm also a big fan of packing a bowl to the brim, sitting at a table with my sketchbook and a 96-pack of Crayolas and smoking the whole thing for a sweet session. I really want to do this with a tabletop vape soon :). Stealth is not an issue for me.

Definitely go for the hands-free. Much more laid back vaping session.

Drink in one hand, whip in the other.

Remote in one hand, whip in the other.

Food in one hand, whip in the other.

Hands-free is where it is at.

Personally, I think if you are going to be this distracted while vaping, it would be better to go with the standard wand with the hands free attachment rather than the ground glass hands free wand. I find that the GG, while indeed "hand free" (you still need one to hold the wand ;) ) requires a modicum of awareness not to pull it out. The hands free attachment is more forgiving of inadvertent little tugs and pulls (until you pull the whole vape over), but it more of a deal to change a bowl. YMMV

I also like to browse and get high at the same time. Saves time.

If you position the SSV in a convenient location-beside your seat where you just have to swivel your arm to meet the heater cover, I've found no need for hands free. Either hands free option for the SSV is aggravating IMO. The GG is an accident waiting to happen, and the attachment isn't worth the trouble unless you're group vaping. If you do use it with others frequently, I'd go with the attachment over the GG. As a solo user, I've had zero desire for hands free in almost 2 yrs. of use. Just my :2c:.

I'll throw my 2 cents in.

I have an SSV with the standard attachment and It never has bothered me. As someone else had said, it feels kind of the same as a pipe and lighter.

However, I kept thinking how amazingly more comfortable/convenient a hands free set up would be ("remote control in one hand, wand in the other"), so I purchased the SSV hands free adapter about a month or two ago. I used it for about four sessions and haven't used it since...

The main thing that turned me off to it was the fact that I like to mix and stirr my bowl around about once every 1-2 hits. I dont know about you guys, but I found it more annoying to have to take the adapter off, stirr the bowl, put the adapter back on, hit it a few times, take it off, stirr, scrape the adapter back on, etc., then to simply hold the whip with two hands for the duration of the hit.

Just throwing it out there that if you want to get the most out of your bowl, you should mix it every couple of hits, and that making it "hands free" adds another two steps to that process.

This is only applicable with the hands free attachment. With hands free from a ground glass heater cover and wand their is no issue such as having to remove the clip.

Yes of course, I should have been more specific. My post is only in regards to the hands free attachment (or as I called it, "adapter.")

I have had no interaction with ground glass.

I've only used the standard set up twice then my whip went missing I had the gg hands free set up as well been using that ever since and I enjoy it a lot.I solo a lot and sometimes my gf joins me but the surfer is always set up in the room. Makes me want to order another standard wand or would the gg wand work with the standard heater cover?

mmmmmmmmmm...guess what I got today? Me likey!

This ssv is exactly what I wanted. biggest hits ever. and lots of em. I used plenty more than I would in a pd, but that's expected. the two aren't interchangeable and imo, can't even be compared. they have completely different uses for me. But I didn't use more than I would have in my E and I haven't been this wrecked in a while.

the ssv is built like a fuckin tank. it's metal, it's heavy, even the cord feels heavy duty, and it's long too. what a cool design.

and I can totally get into the ritual of hitting this thing. which immediately causes me to compare it to the E. The E got its best hits when the bowl was allowed to preheat, as the pd does as well, but the ssv doesn't enjoy this benefit, yet beats them all in hit size. the airpath on this thing is so pure it's captivating. the wand on the thing is thick and solid, the tubing is thick and the mouthpiece is teardrop shaped in a big feel way. everything about it screams "I'm badass!"

I dig this thing and can totally see it moving to the front of my lineup...while there is plenty. I'm sure when I get low again I'll go back to mostly pd.

regular. I decided to wait on hands-free to see if I want it first. I don't think I'm gonna go there. I like holding it up to the heater and turning it around and removing it once it is done. no worries about the herb continuing to crisp when it is sitting on the heat. using it this way will keep it looking like new forever. I imagine that if Snoop were going to endorse a vaporizer, this would probably be it.

Even if I'm not using the hands-free attachment as it's meant, I still use it. Sometimes your heater cover gets uprooted slightly or tilted, and when it's on on you obviously don't want to touch it. The attachment makes such adjustments very easy.
