Oh, and about the customer service at 7th floor ... the store manager is so very young and she could've easily told someone some dirty laundry about the company. Yesterday I was talking to her and complaining about a certain rude young man running the register there. She began to tell me how he was on his last chance and how he's always doing messed up stuff. So yeah, she's a little loose with her lips and the whole org is unprofessional. But I don't care since the product is so awesome. I did tell her about their bad customer service rep online and she just shrugged it off ... "we're the top-selling vape in the country ... Willie Nelson bought 40." So I encouraged her that such a great product needs equally great customer service. ;) She is helping me sort out a situation and, if not sorted out, I'll definitely be bitching to you guys about it to help me spread the word. ;)

Hey, quick question ... I got a new SSV last night and to get a vapor exhale, I had to have the temp up to about 3:00. The full power is 5:00. Is that normal or does it take a few bowls to break in?

its not too uncommon to vape at that setting. it depends on how much you have in there, how hard you're hitting and what type of bowl. With a standard bowl and a smaller load that sounds about right, especially if you're working the bowl during the hits. You could try hitting it slower and working/twisting the bowl a bit slower, which could allow you to run at a lower temp if you want.

but yeah i can vape up to about 4 oclock on my ssv with a smallish load in the standard wand without burning at all as long as i dont hold the bowl still or hit too slow.
You should be all good with that. Mine clicks on at about 7 or 8 o' clock and the sweet spot is about 2-3 o'clock with max temp being at about 5-5:30. I can get hits at 1 o'clock or whatever but that sweet spot on mine is between 2-3.

Does anyone have an idea on how to get the knob on the SSV to grab hold a little better. Mine has slowly become loose. So every time I turn the unit on or off, the knob moves slightly. So after a few on's and off's the temp settings are no longer the same.
I've gotten tired of playing guesswork at where is the temp at today. Any suggestions on how to get the knob tighter without supergluing it all together?
Someone was using mine and somehow got the turn on position at like 10 o'clock when it was originally around 7 o'clock. I was so furious and couldn't comprehend how incompetent one can be to turning a knob off. I was worried about the temp settings being all messed up and turned it back to right about where it was originally. Sorry for being a little off topic.

Thought i'd post a pic of my setup these days.
100_3088.jpg

I'm loving how the n3rd pairs with the ssv, i highly recommend one :brow: the inline adds very little drag and is still easy to control your hit speed with. It milks so much easier than a bigger tube or something does, and is easy to just sit back and use, it feels more like a mouthpiece replacement than some awkward piece of glass. The hits themselves are, of course, MUCH smoother thanks to diffusion through water. I forgot how great it is to never have to worry about suckin through ABV powder, as well as how convenient having a clear visual indicator of vapor accumulation is.

Speaking of abv, since i started using this bub i've noticed i'm able to get an even darker and more consistent brown color out of my abv. In fact, i revaped a good amount out of some of my stockpiled abv the other day to hold me over when things were dry. Im not exactly sure why i'm getting better/more hits out of my herb using the bub with it, but i'm loving it  i still start at low temps and work my way up, and take pretty medium sized hits still, so its not that. I think its just easier for me to maintain a consistent draw speed maybe...

thanks! it is quite perfect now :D my one friend has trouble getting a hit sometimes, but i think he just hits it too fast sometimes. Everyone else has loved it tho.

And Skully is an essential part of my workbench, i put my pokers and such in his eyes, my guitar picks in his nose, and, when i used to smoke, i filled in his missing teeth with roaches lol.

haha nice, where did you get it?
Some crazy gypsy lady who was, at first, hesitant to sell it to me because she said it was "cursed... cuurrrrrsed!". That was before i explained to her that i am an avid collector of cursed human remains.

...or on ebay. but thats nowhere near as cool of an answer

i found an easy way to 'shotgun" hits to anyone with the surfer, while the other person is taking a hit, hold your hands over the top of the unit, and blow your hit into the top chamber as the other is sucking. seemed to work great. :p

Does anyone have one of the SSV grinders? I need a new one but want one that isn't cheap and won't have paint/etc flaking off into my herb, plus it needs to work well. I've gotta order a new adapter for my bong, since last night, I tossed my whip on onto the bed like I do every night and it just so happened that the adapter smaked into the wand and shattered lol. Just trying to figure out it's a good quality grinder and if not i'll just get a space case.

Just picked this up to hook with my ssv...

Does anyone recommend the GG cover/wand over the standard when connecting to a bong? I still need to get an adapter for my tube (right now I am just sticking the tube in the down stem).

Nice. I've never used the GG connection with the SSV, but did with the DBV. I can def say that i love the standard because its much harder for stuff to get blown back into the heatercover. It seems like the bowl contents are more likely to get blown around when hooked up to bong. It seems to happen when your bong/bub gets tilted or the water/pressure levels change suddenly, like when someone clears the piece by pulling the adapter and then puts it back in, esp if they didnt stop hitting first. I'm not sure exactly what does it, but my friend always does it somehow, and having the smaller HC hole has been great, along with the angle of course.

Also i like how easy it is to pull the wand away from the HC to clear the tube a second or 2 before you pull the adapter, GG sometimes gets stuck.

My friend has the ssv with GG connection and I can say that it hits way harder than the standard. Every time I go over there and hit his, it's almost like taking a huge rip of a bong. That is why I figured the GG would be better for a connection into a bong rather than the standard. Might just have to bring my bong over his place and try it with his GG.

I have a question for everyone: How long do you leave your SSV on for between uses? As in, what do you guys think the minimum off time would be for it to be worth switching it off rather than just leaving on?

I'm wondering if it's worth shutting it off and turning it back on again if you use it every hour or so, or if it would be better to just leave it on. I realize it will be using electricity while on, so the "green' answer would be to shut it off when not in use. However, I'm more interested in the longevity of the SSV itself than anything else.

I can imagine how it would almost be better for it to be left on so that the glass and heating element arent going from cool to hot and back to cool again multiple times a day. I'm just not sure whether this thermal stressing, or whatever you want to call it, would be worse for it than leaving the current running through it.

I just got my ssv in the mail today and started using it and im in love with it (although my brother swears I'd prefer a forced air vape, any truth to that? Like does this compare to the herballaire? I've had a vapir 5.0 before but that was just crap for the most part.) Anyway, my main question is: I accidentally (stupidly) tipped the ssv back and weed fell out of the gg wand amd towards the heater, luckily it was off so I took off the heater cover to make sure there was no more loose weed in there that could burn and there wasn't but when I slipped it off this little nettle strip flipped off something I think well it was just loosely in there and I just set it next to the bottom metal part of the heater and called it good and put the heater cover back on and started vaping. So what was that metal strip and was there more I was supposed to do?

P.s. any first time ssv user tips?

Yeah, that metal piece came out with mine too. I think its just a little shim you put back in to keep it in place... mine is not even in there. I couldn't get it to work when putting it back together and left it out. I don't see why you shouldn't be fine.

Tips? Read the first 41 pages of this thread... ;)

I've been wondering this as well. I use to turn mine off after every use but got annoying waiting for it to heat up. So now I pretty much leave mine on for roughly 12 hours of the day give or take. When I know I'm not going to use it for a bit, I'll turn the dial down low.

I tend to only use it once or twice a day so I turn it on each time. However, often for the evening session, its taking 2 or 3 "doses" over about an hour. For watching a movie or something, after 20 minutes I might want a couple more hits, so I leave it on until I know I am good for the night, then turn it off.

Also, the instructions mentioned that if you don't want to wait, just turn it on full blast for 30 seconds, then turn it to your desired setting for a minute. This does work. I feel its not quite exactly the same as heating it up properly-- sometimes it will be too hot or too cool still-- but certainly works if you are in a rush.

My main complaint now is that the knob seems to be on the wrong side. I have it on a nightstand next to my bed, and it awkward to reach the knob when the front is facing me. Also, I'll add (and already have) to the long list of people who found the customer service horrible. Otherwise, a great product and I like it so much better than "forced air" styles. Crinkly plastic bags, no thanks! I like that the complexity of this device falls on the user (draw speed and knob setting) and not on the device. Complicated gadgets always crap out; think of how cars and computers are always failing. Do you want your smoking device to do the same thing?

First timer tips... as said, read this thread when you're high and bored. Experiment a lot. Play with different drynesses of herb and different size grinds, different knob settings, etc. Its really simple and there is not much to learn. I was hitting just fine the 1st day and while I am getting much more feel for it, its not too different than day 1.

I had a question concerning my SSV. Is it normal for the unit to occasionally turn itself off?
I noticed every once in a while, maybe once a month I will turn the unit on. Use it for a bit, and then an hour or so later I will go to use it and there will be no heat.
The knob will be where I left it, but neither the orange light, or the heating element will be on. If i turn the knob to off and then back on it heats right up.
Do I need to send this one back and get it looked at or is this something that happens occasionally?

Thanks for the info. I have read quite a bit of this thread, its what got me to finally decide on the seven after days of researching things like the herbalaire, vaborbros amd dbv. I got tips like dont suck slow, and some knob tips but you were right its pretty simple and I just have to get to know my unit. I picked a hands free whip vape because with my vapir 5.0 It was very loud and super wasteful since it was always vaporizing (often combusting) and sadly (yet luckily because I wouldn't have learned about all these other capes) I used it in my friends Toyota matrix and the heater just stopped working.

Anyway im glad to be vaping again and im glad it's with the ssv, it got my friends and I super high and we have pretty big smoking tolerances from smoking a lot everyday, but im done smoking, only vaping.
