The Baller Series is here for the SSV!

Also, here is some info on us

Hoping they'll get the DBV ones made soon!
2-3 weeks and we should have it

Hello, Friends! Long-time SSV user here (had mine for over 10 years now). So proud of this little thing. What an amazing company and product.

My question is though, for the first time after all these years, I bought some replacement tubing because it's the only part that's difficult to clean fully. I bought this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B089YGDB55?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1 . Supposedly food-grade and safe. I think I saw it linked from this forum somewhere also.

The issue is that I received the tubing and it has a strong smell to it? Is that safe? What did you guys do to remove that smell from the tubing? It's quite strong if you pull through air through the tube with your mouth, or smell it.
Buy our tubing. It is made in American and made special for us so it is more flexible.

Hmmm...might finally be time for me to Get a spherical glass wand to go with one of these for my SSV in the near future.
Like me. I ordered in the same time the spherical wand.
I thought that there was a fat boy for this model, but I found nothing.

Can't afford it yet.

But my SSV only has the original connection (Not the connical or spherical), and I've been wanting to upgrade. I just think that this may finally motivate me.

I have just seen on the website of eleven8 that the spherical wand is bigger now to accept the dish for oil.
I have also seen the ball head in action. I am a little bite afraid that the vap will be too agressiv because with the original head (without balls) I was at 8 for the setting heat. Maybe I will have to play with the quantity of balls and diameter (if 4mm balls fit). Let see when it will be at home.

This looks really cool! I just cleaned my SSV and coverted it to the spherical heater cover yesterday, can't wait to fire it up later!
I'm curious about how the new ball head impacts draw resistance - the SSV is super open, this must be a bit more restrictive? I tried to mod mine but i never got comfortable with how people were holding in their rubies at the top and didn't want to risk a burn.

Y'all need to let me know how this performs, I'm out of $ for vapes right now, but if this is worthwhile I'll be picking it up when I can!

FWIW, I did a ruby ball mod on my SSV and draw resistance was not affected. The balls only influenced temperature, not the vapor path.

I wonder if there was a bit of a philosophical gap about vaporization going on giving them pause from going to it sooner. That said, i really love the adaptability of the silver surfer as a vaporizer, so I'm glad to see them officially supporting it! I plan on grabbing one as soon as I get the funds set aside.

Looking forward to hearing initial impressions on it. It took them long enough to take advantage of the modification!
Word

I’ve been using a ball modified SSV and DBV for a couple of years. Troy had a YouTube episode showing people how to ball mod an SSV for free, essentially. I’d have thought Elev8 would have jumped on that mod sooner.

I have a standard wand SSV heater cover. I was about to switch to spherical (mostly to go full glass vapor path) , but now I'm wondering if it would worth it to go for the glass balls kit.
Given that I only vape dry herb and that I'm more than happy with the results, especially for a 10years old vape, is there any advantage to go for the balls?
I suppose it increase heat up time and maybe might push to combustion temp if not cautious...

Does it improve taste?
And if yes , is it better than the glass heater cover (that seems to give you a full glass airpath)?

Are long hit more consistent in term of vapor production (for the duration of a single hit) ?

1. Not necessarily except that, depending on load size/temp/etc, you might be able to cache a stem in one go instead of 2. You still have as much of a full glass setup as you do with the spherical cover.

2. IMO this is the main benefit of doing a baller conversion. You create a nice big heat sink to draw from before you have to deal with the heater catching up. The air input/out are different too, slits vs a hole for in and a glass "V" forming the screen on the out.

The balls let you turn way down and get big, fluffy hits. With the temps lower, you may get better flavor. And yes, exactly, the broad column of hot air from the heat reservoir just never runs out.

This.

Prior to the mod I typically set my dial at a little past noon. Adding the balls allowed me to enjoy more thorough and flavorful extraction with the dial at around 11.

I do it for the flavor.

Yeah, I didn't realize that your tubing is actually vinyl compared to the silicon one that I ordered. The one I had ordered seemed to be collecting dust on the outside (possibly inside also), and still had a slight chemical smell to it, which seemed weird to inhale through so I didn't.

It's been returned now and I ordered the tubing from you guys. I should've done that to begin with. Thank you for the heads up!

Do you know if they will send me a shipping tracking number? It just gave me an order number. I guess they'll send the tracking number when it ships....?

I got one once my order shipped (oddly enough for tubing 🙃) and they also interface with Route. Usually on Monday am when I've spent the weekend satisfying my VAS. I must admit Elev8's order/shipping/custy service folks are banging and deserve a raise.

Alright, great! Thanks for letting me know, I'll keep an eye out for the shipping number then.

And yeah, big agree on Elev8. I will never use another desktop vape aside from the SSV. They've got a customer for life definitely. I've had this SSV for forever and it's been with me through thick and thin.

I had some hits now with this new head and could give my first feehlings.
I do a heat soak with two long hits without plant. Just let the wand in contact with the head is not enough to get it hot. I am surprised that I can touch the head without burning my finger. If I don't do a heat soak, the first hit give me almost no vapor. The vaporisation is not instantaneous but come after few second with the heat soak. Taste is very good. One of the best I had. After the first hit, I have to take shorter hits, because it become quicly milky. Or maybe I should let the wand cool down. It is not possible to modulate temperature with the air flow rate, because there is restriction due to the glass connector from the wip. It is maybe a way to improve the system : more airflow. Extraction is very effiscient and I find that it is very potent for the amount of plant. I was surprised to be blast away with the quantity of plant I used. The wand have a big volume, maybe 30% more than a showel head. I used only the third of the volume. With a full head, you will do nothing during some hours after I think ...

Ok, I have my spot. I remove the connector 14mm to the wip and put the wip directly in the adaptator 18mm gender vs 14mm female.
With the better air flow I can have nice and bigger hits
I will maybe order the new connector 8eleven that seem to be less restrictiv in the air flow. But I am not sure that I really need it.
I notice that the new wand have a better volume but also is more open for the airflow
