How come every time I stur a bowl from the SSV I lose herb? It's not like I do it fast: I first poke at the bowl to lossen it up, and then I slowly stur it, and it flys all over the place. I never had to stur my other vapes. I shake, turn, brushed but I have never stured. Am I doing it wrong?
that is crazy. the stock bowls hold a ton. can we get a quick number crunch on what wand you are using and a weight :o

Came to read about grinders; fucked combustion
I just realized I'm on the 7th floor. Thought I was on 3 for about the last week.

Just a shout out to the DDave mod family for the SSV, the original mod and the mini version allow me to basically do a one hitter pull. No need for stirring, no problems with dust (I also use water filtration).

It sometimes takes me a pull or two to set the dial correctly, depends on the cannabis variety and moisture. I can consistently get a satisfactory extraction with perhaps just a little less fully vaped herb along the circumference.

So my Surfer started unexpectedly behaving strangely. Now only the bottom half of the herb is being heated properly.
I had the element pulled up a bit almost to the top of the heater cover. Very frustrating and not sure what is going wrong. I just tried pushing the heater element back down a bit, so the air intake lines up with the glowing part of the element.
Will report back to see if this fixes it

Decided to pickup an SSV after stalking this forum a bit; recently made the switch to vaporizing 98% of the time. I'd say the switch has been pretty significant and I've noticed a lot of old black grossness leaving my lungs recently.

I grabbed a cosmetic seconds SSV due to the price being right. I appreciate that 7th Floor offers these units, along with the high end flashier versions (we can all have something nice). The unit that was selected for my cosmetic second was red & silver with a GG spherical setup. Got to say, I like the setup that came through. As described, there are some scuffs, chips & scratches, but nothing that hinders the performance. I've attached a few pitchers of the setup for review and to give future purchasers an example of the cosmetic seconds.

Tried the unit once so far and it works great. The tips offered on this thread gave me a great idea or where to start. The unit has provided great vapor from the first hit. Only upgrade I'm adding on currently is @DDave's mod kit for smaller sessions.

Thanks for all the previous input on the SSV, I found it very helpful and informative.

Does the dDave mod work for the spherical setup?

When I lowered the heating element so that the bottom of the glowing section was lined with the air intake.
Works like a champ again.
So apparently your heater element can be too low, OR too high!

I was able to smoke/vape resin out of my solo wand before I cleaned it; would I be able to do the same thing with the SSV wand?

Yes, I do vape wand hash with a ground glass heater cover wand combo.

I use organic cotton to hold concentrates, and crank it up a bit.

There is also a dedicated concentrate heater cover, although I have no experience with it.

Wanted to post in a thread that i have watched and loved for a long time but will no longer have a use for. My SSV was one of my favorite vaporizers I ever owned and it always will be. I had an e nano before that and I loved that too, I just needed a bigger pack for water pipe hits so I went Lsv, after a few close calls with rolls off the table and the thing falling because I'm horribly clumbsy I decided to let a friend buy it, he was begging to buy it from me cuz he liked it so much, so I sold it and got a SSV.

It could deliver the same size hits through water, espcially with the DDave mod, and it was a tank, sitting on my table ready to go all day every day. I never kept mine on 24/7 because of my ocd, but knowing it was no problem if I did was always awesome. For over a year I was happy with my home plug in situation and that was mainly my SSV. Recent purchases of portables has given me a new out look on vapes and what they can do. My milaana honestly hits every bit as hard as an e nano, and almost the surfer, it can hold more than a DDave mod screen too or less, and easily milk a piece and it's portable.. And then I tried a friends EVO and I had to have one. After using the SSV I fell in love with convection and the EVO is the best convection vape I've tried, well sublimater and appollo are both CRAZY but i think there's convection + magic in those vapes lol.

My silver surfer is now bagged up, in the corner feeling lonely.. And I feel a little bad not giving it any love, but the way I see it is that the SSV worked great for me, for as long as I expected, I mean it's still in perfect condtion.. I could have probably used it for the rest of my life lol. I mean that is one thing I will attest to and that's the durability of this thing. If you want to get into convection vapor for a fair price and do it with some style, the SSV is for you ;) it is truely a great vape that I believe has and will stand the test of time.

Cheers FC,
Stay vaped :peace::leaf:

You must select "options" (colors etc) before the system will allow you to put item in cart.
Last time I checked they were back over $200. I must admit that I picked up a backup ssv myself at $108. Cheaper than wholesale.

I have also been holding out on sharing this little gem.

Here it is all milked up with my Marley SSV.

IMO this takes the SSV to a new level! Smooth and tasty lung busters and no more whip for those who dislike them. HIGHLY RECOMMEND this add to your collection.

Here are some of the other toys I use with the Marley.

The recycler has become my most prized possession in the glass department. It was made my Steve and it's unbelievably beautiful. Even made the Rasta Switchball WPA like I asked. I feel very fortunate to have these pieces. I am going to throw up some more pics on the elev8 glass thread when I get some time. Try to revive that dead thread. It deserves it. The 7th floor Elev8 Glass team makes some real nice stuff!
