I don't have a ton of SSV love but the experience is almost purely self-directed. If you want darker abv, the SSV on full should come very close to combusting if you draw slowly. Mine will easily combust on full temp with anything less than the hardest pull. Don't treat the temp range like a vaporizer with digital control. It's just a heating element with a full range of heat and it should easily combust. I've found myself more likely to overheat than underheat, but I like my vapes a little easier to use so the Herbalizer is my daily driver. But if you can't make the SSV combust it's user or product failure and not reflective of the broader product line, I can promise that. I do agree that at full price they're a little pricey especially when you factor in all the breakable parts. I buy all my vapes used personally

It's more of a hot plate than a real dabbing station, it certainly does the trick but it's not like a nail.

I was using the SSV oil kit daily for a while with a bubbler. It's a tank and way easier than the torch/nail setup IMO. I don't have too much experience with other dab rigs so I cant compare. But I like it and feel the convenience is huge. Plus you can hit a dab and flowers simultaneously.

I usually pull out the evo for concentrates...fantastic hit. I have the concentrate kit here for the ssv but haven't used it yet. You've given me a good excuse to.
Raskin666, that sounds cool! Can you do really big dabs if you want to? I bought a quave XL banger because they are huge and let me do massive dabs

I have seen someone one here use the oil kit on the LSV, but can't remember how that went. Never tried that myself, but I wouldn't be opposed to it.

I went to use my concentrate kit and the heater cover wouldn't seat properly, so no testing results from me for a while.

My oil HC doesn't sit nearly as snug as my other HCs

It should be. I see no reason why it wouldn't. Just need to remove the LSV's metal heater cover guard. I use the SSV Standard HC on the LSV.
But without some kind of LSV stand, I would wager it would be less ideal as the SSV has a very sturdy base.

If one is to go by anecdotal evidence your unit or your usage needs examining. Folks want to help you. What makes you say those things. I don't have one but have a Da Buddha. What are your symptoms and complaints? Be as specific as possible.
7th Floor devices are inexpensive because you provide temp control. Fragile? They fix them for $25 plus shipping. Glass preserves flavor and is indeed breakable.

Maybe it's my perspective having so many vapes, but I don't agree with any of your assessments when looked at in light of the market.
I have much more fragile vapes that cost a lot more, and unless your unit is defective I don't see how one could call them temperamental or inconsistent. That usually has more to do with user error with draw speed, etc.
I think the 7th Floor desktop vapes represent some of the best value on the market for quality vapor, but to each his own.
What makes you think it is temperamental and inconsistent? Maybe we can help with that some...

Glass is fragile, ssv's are not. It's the first vape that "converted me" and atm it's the vape I'm still using the most. I have many other vaporizer choices and like them all, but the ssv's timelessness, reliability, versatility and predictability continue to please. It seems to be a good time for 7th floor vapes in general, with their new portable model and super surfer it is evident that they are also building a foundation for the future.
I bought a a black SSV discounted from vapeusa (I couldn't afford one otherwise). When I got it, it was not working. I called vapeuse and told them what had happened; they sent me another SSV that was blue. The blue SSV left my greens green. I pulled up the heating element on the blue SSV and it would retract back. I decided to send my black non working SSV back to be repaired.

Well I can understand your anxiety.
I bought four ssv's for gifts last year, and I have one myself.
I have learned I like the ground glass heater cover and stem the best. The standard does have a longer learning curve, but it does work well after some practice.
Two of the new owners bought a gg kit. Both of those use the ssv daily. The other two like it, but tell me it takes more effort than they want to put out.
And while I'm at it, I also like the ddave mod kit for ssv's. It makes the ssv very efficient.
So hang in there bro. You will know what we know soon.

Posting an update on my SSV. So far all great! I bought the Ddave mod and it is the tits, I find myself getting the most out of my flowers.
I recently noted something odd. When 'clicking' on my silver surfer I noticed that there is no light initially emitting from the led in the back. I have to click it on and then turn it past a certain point to get a light to start displaying. I noticed that such is not the case with my friend's. On her SSV the led light turns on the moment you click the knob to turn it on, without needing the knob to be turned any further past that point.
I am unsure if this is normal on my SSV or if it is defective in some way. I figured I would post on this forum with hopes that some of you guys might share your experience with such case.
