Anyone try low temperatures? I recently turned down my ssv (gg) to about 9 or 25% power. The hits were lighter but more flavorable. But some varieties do need more heat, but much less than what I typically use.

Anyway at lower temps and a gg fitting, I can heat sink the wand for roasting, or slow hit for flavor. The loads also go on and on using minimal heat.

Anyway just thought I'd mention this, maybe someone else will enjoy this method.

I've had to wind the SSV down to 50% from its usual 80% since getting the bong as it can keep pulling, and pulling on it and I was getting a lot of charred/black AVB

Hey guys new here and to vapeing, just recently started getting back into mj since its now legal in OR(finally!). I bought a portable and it's ok but I want a home unit now. The ssv so far is what I'm thinking but one of my wife's biggest complaints about the portable is that it's really hard to suck in. How is the air flow on this? Thanks for replies

Airflow on the SSV is much less restrictive than some portables. For a newbie, I would highly recommend the GG or SGG setups. The standard HC/Wand is awesome (and works well) but has a bit of a learning curve to not combust on it.

You will be pleased with your purchase regardless of which HC/wand combo you choose.

I would suggest adding a small bubbler to round out your experience

Thanks for answering so quick I will probably start with whatever it comes with and see how it goes. But I'll look into whatever GG and SGG are lol half the battle of learning about vaped is all these damn acronyms! Thanks again. What advantage do I get with those? Some reviews I watched said they prefer the one it comes with cause it's easier to rotate it for a more even vape? I'm kind of suprised how hard it is to research some of this stuff until I found this place.

I'm thinking about buying an SSV but I do have one concern. Since there are no markers on the knob or unit how easy is it to return to your favorite temp every time? I knew someone whose main complaint was that he had to play with it a bit before he got back to his preferred temp. He might have had an older unit though, not sure.

I have changed the temp control once in 4 years, and that was just to lower it a bit when I got a water piece for it. It is not difficult to turn it from min to max and judge a half way point. Temps are controlled by draw speed, so even on the lower setting, a slow draw can still combust.

Its a glass knob with a big bump. Point the bump to the same spot every time and the temp will be the same. You can fine tune with the force of your draw.

I switch it on/off at the wall, so I never touch the knob [lol]

I do tend to just leave it on all day, though, and switch off at bed time.

The knob can be replaced with a guitar volume control knob that is labeled 1-10. Just mark the SSV unit to where 0 is off and 10 is full temp.

Alternatively you can use a Kill-a-watt meter that will give you a voltage readout, so you can find the same temperature even when there are high drain devices sharing the same electical circuit. My prefered setting is 23 watts consumed.

It really gets fun when you have a friend with tiny but powerful "turbo lungs" that combusts at the temperature everyone else seems to vape at. My ssv needs to change settings constantly!
