Hmmm. This is EXACTLY what I did. Ha. I am getting sort of a funky taste but maybe it is normal. I normally use a water pipe with a single perc and ice but it just broke. I an waiting on the new piece (ordered the VRIPTECH water tool Perk after a lot of searching) so maybe that's why I am noticing. I use it natively sometimes anyways, but I will likely ordered more from 7th Floor. Definitely the first negative thing I have found with the SSV. Other than that, it's perfect.I fill with Iso , shake well...
empty....
rinse well then fill with warm water and dish soap.. shake well....
then rinse well with warm water for a good long rinse.
I use a shop-vac to vacuum hose dry before use... the hose should only retain a mild vapor scent.
Just an update to my attempt at replicating the effect of Tweak's EQ elbow screen mod. I've abandoned the hose in the whip method as I'm worried the hose is too close to the heat source (and because of the added restriction).I should try your technique with the screwdriver to remove the screen from the ring. I just cut around that ring, but ended up with a screen that is too small for my wand.
Instead, I've shoved a short length of whip inside my wand with a screen underneath and on top. This creates a raised platform for my load closer to the heat. However, not surprisingly the narrower bore has increased the restriction.
Bringing my stuff closer closer to the heat improves the extraction. After years of consistently being unable to get my flowers beyond a medium brown, I'm finally able to achieve a dark, even extraction. The hits are also denser.
There was a thread elsewhere discussing the ability to turn up the heat to improve the extraction. My experience is that cranking the heat does not overcome deep bowls. I know that I tried many times - high heat, long sessions, etc - and the load would consistently achieve the same color. Generally, my sessions go from about 12.30-2.30.
Agree too with Tweak's experience regarding shrinking loads as well as diaphragmatic breathing.
So, if some are having issues with hit quality and extraction consider buying a less deep wand, the EQ screen mod, or some other tweak to bring the load closer to the heat.
Buy one SSV with standard HC and Hand held Wand.
Next month order a GonG HC and a Hands Free wand.
to maKe it even more versatile, you could order the spherical setup down the road.
The HC and Wand are not too prohibitive in cost.
If you get two setups, and decide you do not like one, you could sell it here in classified afterwards.
Hi everyone!
Long time mflb user but I reverted back to combustion because the highs on the mflb could never match my bong.
But I'm getting older now and I have to face the fact that combustion won't be good for my long term health. I've settled on the ssv as the best vape on the market that'll hopefully get me close to the satisfaction I get from my bong.
So I've read the last 80 pages or so and found some really good info. I'm going for a blemished unit with a 18 mm WPA to use with my bong. The last issue I want to clear up is whether I should go for a ground glass or standard heating cover. The hands free aspect of the GonG really appeals to me but some of the seasoned vets here, namely Vito, advocate for the standard. I understand it to be because the standard allows for more control for clouds in how you move the wand whereas the ground glass is kind of a fixed position. I also understand the standard to be more versatile because it can fit many types of wands.
So my question is there any other things I should take into consideration? I'm really torn between the two right now as the final roadblock to me actually ordering lol
If your trying to mimic your bong; may want to check out the light saber vaporizer; same heating element as SSV but designed for water pipes
If you want a great contrasting (ie small with low drag) check out the d020 at dhgate. If your in the US its only $30 with shipping.@slvelocity Please let me know how that goes! I run my SSV to a bong primarily. I use the standard glass. Very curious on your results with the ground glass connection used with a bong. What style/size bong will you be running it to?
My new VRIPTECH Water Tool Perk is great, but the drag is a bit much with water in everything. Using a 3 foot hose though, and shortening it up might solve that problem.

I've been using the oil kit with the ssv and love it,
it's a great inexpensive upgrade for torchless e-dabbing imho.
I just noticed that there's an old thread for it,
except it's used with a dbv but I haven't caught up with it yet.
edit: I should also say, I'm not an experienced dabber
