Phattpiggies Wood Shed

Copacetic

Somewhere North of The Wall
Been hard at it doing some stuff that I really wish I hadn't said I'd do, so as a reward to myself I took some time off from the mundane to do some things I would rather be doing.

Had a request for a sleeve for a piece of glass for an Inhalator and it had to fit a VC stash tube. Panga panga, the current screen will be replaced before it gets sent out. Replaced with a CCD.
@Baron23 This is part of the 14mm OG wong idea, I'll order a couple of OG bodies and work the sleeves round them.

Blackwood Telescoping VC with a Twist, the idea works it just needs a couple more things trying out to finalize it.

What ever happens the shape of it closed up will be done again, I'll blend the twist into the final MP shape.

Had a delivery of some extra long skinny drill bits which led me to making a new stem for myself.
This one is Steamed Pear and has no condenser, a 3mm hole the full length which had gone well off center when it came out the other end.

Got some orders nearly completed and once the folk concerned have seen their stuff I'll post some fotos and video.

And more stuff in the pipeline that's coming together, slowly, but it's all steps in the right direction.

Brilliant stuff Phatt's!
That INH stem is great, But the rest of the vape looks like it needs a sleeve now! :uhoh:
I've just given away my INH in the hopes it'll convert someone like it did me.
They're decent little vapes aren't they.
Mine was only an 05, not an 'S', but it is still produced a decent cloud.

Your telescoping twist is an amazing idea too.
It looks great already, but if you do a 'fits together' mouthpiece as well it's going to be REALLY cool.

@RastaVapa I've got a couple of the X rings George uses inside which grip the condenser, it's too tight at the moment, the MP is threaded onto the condenser tube but it's one I used for something else and it's got a crack in it. I reckon a new solid MP with one X ring and the body internals changed a bit and it should be fine.

@Copacetic my 05 has been sat in a draw for ages.
The sleeve was an attempt at an Omni Twist and the Blackwood, which is rock hard, just wasn't playing the game and cracked on me, the drill wondered which left a really unstable bit to turn and once it spins in the centers the wood ends up so shiney it will not grip anymore, a bit too much pressure and it gave up. Agree on the MP actually fitting in the sleeve and it's where it will end up. Got to try and keep a clean line.

Does the longer stem cool the vapor more? Is it noticable?

Well, my opinion is completely all over the map on this issue. I have short bodies, longer stems and even longer @phattpiggie stems. Which offers a cooler smoother vapor? I have no clue; I can't tell. They all deliver smooth, cool vapor. But I do have some clear preferences, that are contradictory.

I have a 14mm Burl Ti VonG S. I like it for the beautiful Burl VonG body and its girth. It's a nice light small vape to hold in your hand.

The Ti Copper Stoned and its short body never rolls and the bumpy dimensional copper globs are very tactile and just "Groovy Man". It has a really nice weight to it.

The phattpiggie Barley Twist in Scottish Yew also resists rolling. It is mesmerising. The Twist is a thing of beauty. You can turn the body around to follow your twirl direction. It deserves an Omni build.

And finally, a sleek phattpiggie long black beautiful square stem. Again, not a roller. Comfortable to hold and twist. Unbelievably satiny smooth. Like butter.

These are my favorites. To me, length seems to not really have anything to do with it. They all perform great. To me, it's the beauty we behold in @phattpiggie 's stems and bodies that improves the experience, not performance. They all perform.

You are looking at a 14mm vong with a piggy twist in it, made from teak. and here's how it works:

this piece is probably the most stunning piece I own. when it tumbled out the envelope I was stunned, it is beautiful. The twist is really nicely pronounced. It has a condenser and an absolutely tiny 0.5 mm carb hole which you wouldnt notice if you didn't know it was there, and the restriction is about the same as my omni fully closed. it milks my orbiter like a mofo. Heres a video of it running through the fc-UFO:

https://vid.me/rj7q

the restriction is actually a bit too much for the fc-ufo, but is perfect for the orbiter. Phatpiggie said its easy enough to widen the carb hole, but I prefer it the way it is.

The end where the ti tip goes in is beautifully squared off, as you can almost make out here:

I hope you all like this baby as much as I do! @phattpiggie, you the man! cheers bro

@herbalist33 so I think we can safely say it works just fine. The open twist with the exposed condenser is still on my 'to do' list.
Thanks for posting in the Milkshot Thread, I have to post a video to reply in the thread so it's a good job myself and @Ruta are off to visit @RastaVapa with this thing next week. An afternoon of testing will be taking place.

just a rumination
You carry on with this kind of thing I like it.

Yes I can't see why not would be the answer and I've looked at my current Homegrown Log stem a few times with this idea in mind.
0Ff83q8.jpg

I could make a spigot similar to this one that would fit in the Nano stem and accept the Ti tip. Same principle as the Deco glass I bought. The O ring could be replaced with cotton or hemp if preferred.

Lot of people out there with stems that could have matching wooden spigots for VC use or we know a man who may be willing to turn you a Ti one on his new CNC lathe.
Vaping fruit and veg with this little thing has shown me that anything is possible.

@Copacetic I've not forgotten you and come the New Year I'll put something together in keeping with your skill set that I think you may like.

@Haunts something along these lines?

The only problem is the 'pucker' around the 'carb' it would need filing off or a slot filing on the inside of the wooden sleeve, there would also be more glass exposed to allow for the cap.
Hang in there as I will be ordering some OG bodies and trying the idea out as a sleeve and an OG Vong that @Baron23 asked about.

@Haunts just tell her it's crack pipe or hopeless addiction to buying new stems, and of course tips because it would be rude not to have a tip for every stem.

Leave it with me.

Had @Ruta round for a 'You do the dangerous parts' turning session today, he's put together a new stem and I'll leave it that for now.
I am sure once he faced the wrath of Mrs Ruta for spending the afternoon/early evening making a new stem he'll post about it.

I had time to carry on tweeking a design I had been playing with and even added some @VapCap touches. Black and White Ebony body and MP, Blackwood adapter and a glass bowl. SS crowns for a bit of decoration.

We've all got one of those mates that, when you get everything together, order bits, research things etc, he then just comes along and makes himself a new stem, using all your tools and parts, draining you of knowledge, and then leaving in a rush before his tea is in the dog?
Well that was well and truly me today, and a massive thanks to @phattpiggie once again, for having the patience to open your workshop up to the needy every now and again, it is fully appreciated.
To be honest, all i did was turn the tiny teak bit, this was after Mr P had physically set the wood up to go, cut the glass (In a lathe!!!), put the tiny carb hole in the glass (Neat as), a team effort you could say :)
Much similar performance to my OG but with a bit of wood instead of rubber (always nice), and looks a tad more refined than the OG, more smoking jacket time in the study :)
I have just now put the Ti end from my, still number one stem, Piggie Blackwood into the end of the glass, i am under the impression that the longer the pipe, the more draw you can get going, i just did a bowl in 2, not the usual 3!
You gotta love this vape, it's versatility and it's endless possibilities, it's the 'Meccano' of vapes for the grown up, the more you build and test, the more you think up :)
So once again, thank you @phattpiggie, he also gave me some tiny hose for lighters and i am now back on my Turboflame.
And as for 'her indoors', she had tea ready upon my late return, was impressed with my afternoons activities, had a smile on her face, and this was after she had been to work, i am truly surrounded by sound people, i must have been a saint in a previous life :)
Great day had, cheers all

Milkshot thread?!, I'll have to check that out :o

You have definitely piqued my intrest Phat's.

If you'd still like a scribble of your deco-stem send me an image/s and I'll try to get something done in the next couple of weeks (have been out of commission for a while)

Very cool.
Do the different crowns change functionality at all?
Or are they just adjusting aesthetics?

Nice work @Ruta !, very cool :clap::nod:

Love this. I prefer the performance of my og over my ti, but the woodies are beautiful. Great combination.

@Copacetic I was wondering where you'd been, hope evrything is okay.
The crowns are just to pretty it up a bit, I'll be in touch and we'll sort something out, as I've said I have a 'hidden in plain sight' idea which fits in with your skill set really well, but as ever it's finding the time to get everything done.

@invertedisdead when ever you're ready just get in touch.

@StormyPinkness all the glass bowl ideas are for people who prefer the function of the OG's but love wood as well.
@Ruta's stem was an idea he had one nite when we were chewing the fat. As with all the stems that have come out of the shed it was no surprise when we fired it up and it worked. Everything seems to perform admirably.

With the exception of this thing

We tried it in 2 different water tools and it would not produce the big thick clouds the longer stemmed triple does native, don't get me wrong there was satifying vapor and I was mullered at one point, but nothing like the dry hits from either of the triple set ups. Even once we modded the Tripacp to run thru water it wouldn't produce thick clouds. An OG milked better than the triple 18mm.

Any and all ideas are welcome as it has flummoxed me.

They both work just fine native, so anyone with any ideas feel free to get in touch,

I will get a bubbler thingy at some point and keep plugging away at trying to get the same results but at the moment it's bewildered all of us.

@RastaVapa and co. were the best of hosts and a good time was had by all, great company with like minded people. Many thanks for inviting us into your home.

I wonder if your problem with the bubbler with the tripple attached to it might have somthing to do with the amount of vacuum applied to the set up might not be enough. This is just one persons thoughts so take it with a grain of salt. But it makes some sense why the triple native way out performs this set up.
Love your work Phatts.
