The last few days have been spent finalising my vacation and discussing some future business plans with a chap in the UK.
Nice guy and we seem to have hit it off, common ground other than MJ helps and he lives in an area I used to many years ago.
I know the route down to his part of the world like the back of my hand, it's a steady three and a half hour drive or an hour and a half motorcycle ride.
I've been waiting on a couple of things thru the post and it doesn't get any better than this, really helps reinforce the true romance of being a turner.
For those of you who have already, and for anyone else who will receive a parcel from me in the future those black vinyl caps sit nice and snug on 18650 batteries so don't throw them away re-use them for a bit of Li-ion safety.
Got asked to do an 18mm with an MP, the diameter doesn't really allow for a smooth transition from the joint to the MP. I figured the only way for it not to look all Nicki Mina.
was to lose the top of the joint
It's a polyester blank that chips or ribbons as and when it pleases. Not a nice turn especially as the first MP wasn't playing the game.
What seems a long time ago, 2nd gen tip ago, I made a VC pipe and it worked fine. My modded torches made spinning a breeze, but it would have been awkward with out one.
Now we have
@Pipes Induction Heater it's made the pipe a more viable option so I cobbled together the old bowl and used the Walnut open twist stem just to see how it was going to work.
It's a really rough throw together but it proved the point. 10mm SS tube with a 1mm wall holds the tip.
The condenser is threaded and screws into the bottom part of the 10mmSS.
Black Palm and Walnut
Black Palm is an odd material, the black parts break, splinter and get thrown out as you turn it. The brown is almost like a sand or sponge.
One customer who made a pipe enquiry had an 'oh yeah' moment and is going to try and make an adapter from a wine cork. So if anyone else wants to try it there is a cheap and easy way.
Be careful buying pipes as they may have pieces which are glued together, the long bent stems are often pieces of wood glued together and shaped after.
This is my second heat application, the first tokes were lite and tasty. If I hadn't been mullered from the previous attempts to get a video done I would have remembered to 'keep the tip upright at all times'.
I've combust a couple of times with it. Once the contents get heated they can fall on to the clicker so it takes a bit of getting used to, but it works.
