@whatavape The screen in the oven heavily affects draw resistance. I had my positioned really tight/flat at one point, and it increase my draw resistance by around double. I remove it, and set it back in at more of an angle and it immediately solved it for me. Maybe it will help you too
Yes, in fact, I have my screen positioned at a slight angle (slightly raised on the side w/ draw tube), but this is what I have come to accept as standard installation, as that's how my screen in my Pax 1 fit, and that's how I've gotten this one to fit. I can see how if it was perfectly flat, there would be much more resistance. But I can figure out no way to get it to lie this way, it just naturally rests slightly raised on one side.
Your standard for no resistance differs from mine. I found some draw restriction even when I pilled on the Pax 2 without any mouthpiece, which is what I expected given the way air enters it. From my experiments, I concluded that the gap around the oven lid is still the most restrictive part of the airflow. This means that I think any difference at the MP is imaginary.
Your description makes me wonder whether your Pax 2 thinks you have already beaten Simon. Try this: go into temperature settings mode, then press the button five times quickly. If I'm right it will flash the four lights in red, green, blue, and yellow. That will also turn off Funky Town, but I don't know if it resets Simon. I think it should.
I think there's a definite difference between the draw on P1 and P2, but for me I'm packing my P2 oven lighter (0.2-0.3g) vs always 0.5-0.6g in my P1. Interestingly enough, I get about the same number of hits this way.
Anyways, in reference to Simon Mode, I was thinking the same thing, but wasn't aware of the ability to reset. While rolling/rotating, here is what I get:
First 3 rotations takes me to party mode 1. This is an interesting animation of colors where no 2 lights are the same, each seems to be randomly changing color on its own.
Next set of 3 rotations takes me to party mode 2. The lights change to red or green swipes (red if heating, green if ready) that change based on how the P2 is oriented.
3rd set of 3 rotations takes me to party mode 3. This mode is light painting mode. When in this mode, there is supposed to be a 5th oven temp that allows me to turn off the oven (all 4 LEDs blue). This is not available on my P2. It goes to high (4/4), then back to yellow (1/4).
If I rotate 3 more times, I return to the first party mode. At any time, in any of these modes, including while within the temp setting in any of these modes, if I shake my P2 up and down vertically once or twice, it will play Funky Town. It also plays while in standard heating mode and accompanying temp change mode. Any more than 2 shakes vertically and it does not play. As you asked, I tried about 100 or so times (ok.. maybe 15 or 20), and 5 quick presses does not activate or change my P2 in any way. Funky town still plays when I shake. Like I mentioned, there is not a 5th temp setting available to me to turn off the oven (something you should have!).
@jambandphan03's explanation is on par with what I have:
mine seems to only have 3 sequences when I rotate it 3 times, I get the same 3 over and over. flashy colors, all green flash or all red flash, color paint whith motion sensitivity. I will keep trying, but so far, I'm just getting the same results no matter which way I spin it or how careful I am.
I am also unable to get into Simon mode.

You get Simon by going through each of the previous four modes. Each mode is reached from the previous by three spins, but if you don't get the spins right you'll get a battery status instead. You'll recognize Simon because all four petals flash white three times, then you will get a sequence to start the game. On mine, it's always the same. I don't play Simon so I don't know how random the sequences are. From what I've been told, you get Funky Town by winning a 20 sequence Simon game.
If you've been around on other forums for the Pax 2, even just browsing, there are (esp on a certain site) many people mentioning they have some "alternative" Pax 2.
My P2 (charcoal) is definitely this version. Now, whether it's known to be different by PAX Labs is beyond me (and maybe
@scott_dunlap or
@Ojan_at_PAX can shed some light here), but my P2 has something different. It could be intentional, or there's my theory...
As a software engineer, I'm really inclined to think there may have been a batch of Pax 2's that received the wrong software during manufacturing. Whether it's a single chip that's bad, or a corrupted segment of code, I think this is the issue. If I'm to delve into it more, my programming experience tells me that it's a software issue, specifically in the section of code that reads data from the gyro (whatever sensor they've used for that). There are going to be lots of "for" loops within the code that check for gyro changes. I'm assuming that somewhere after 12 rolls/rotations/spins, the for loops break. My guess is that there was a chunk of code not written into the P2's memory locations properly, or it was cut off at some point. This would explain it's roll counter resetting after 9 rolls and returning me to the 1st party mode. If I have some time this week I will find a way to post a video of me showing my P2's modes.
If this is a software issue, and I'm almost
certain that it is, there are probably a few hundred (or thousand) P2's that have this anomaly. So far, I have seen no issues with performance, so I'm inclined to think it's an isolated issue within the code that accesses the gyro. Maybe
@scott_dunlap could bug his engineers to figure out if they're aware of this bug (if it is a bug...). I'm also curious if others who have this "version" of the P2 also have charcoal, or if it affects all colors. I noticed all reviewers/ contest winners received the silver one, and none have reported non-Simon.
I'm willing to talk more about what I
think it might be if anyone is interested, PM me.
I beat Simon on my P1, and it was after 20 correct in a row, so that sounds right....but since I've got no Simon I'll probably never know!
Anways, tl;dr
Draw is easier on P2 than P1 for me but it may be that I'm packing less in my oven.
My P2 is definitely different, and my experience tells me its a software issue, specifically corrupted data or truncated data. I have only 3 party modes and no simon. My experience coincides with
@jambandphan03's experience as well. Curious to know if you've got charcoal too, or another color.
