lol

So this hum is also very quiet and I have now tested 3/5 of my hoppers, all of them have the noise.
Strange that nobody else has it. I still have to try my 2 others, but since it is not only on one of my devices and the hopper employee also told me it
was normal, everything is good for me !!! :) because all devices have it

and you can only hear it when the device is on and you hold the oven close to your ear ;)

It can hardly be such a coincidence that only my 5 devices have it and no one else

or you mean with click the same what i mean with hum..it sounds it sounds like a fast running quieter.
but it doesn't matter. everything is fine for me
Yes the noise is normal it's the heater cycling on and off and is a hopperlabs inside joke that it's the hopper chirping

Today was a good day, I got to unbox a brand new SS io. Back mid 2015 I bought a blue Grasshopper which arrived Aug 2016 - 13 months after the purchase. At the beginning of 2016 I snagged a vendor backer Grasshopper Ti unit that Vapefiend had acquired - That unit arrived 21st Jan '16 and wound up being traded in for an upgrade now received 7th Jan '21.

First and foremost, this has been a real lottery type experience. Highs and lows, big wins and mad cop outs.
I definitely won big today, this SS io is insane.

It is exactly what I wanted, the best Hopper I've used. Perfect dark roast, mind boggling clouds. Huge hits with extra pop. Proper one hit big rip potential, dark roasted perfection, instant power. 4 chambers out of the box, two spare batteries, one which is now stuck in place :/

GHB3s. Real nice to have proper battery power again as I have been tethering with the mains adapter otherwise.
The batteries are awesome, except for the fat stuck one, that is annoying..

But whatever, the hits are actual perfection, and the portability, efficacy and instantness are truly the best things ever. What an incredible combo and ultimate device.

The SS is noticeably heavier than the Ti (63.4g vs 56.7g). The back end is the most notable difference as it is it seamless around the serial engraving. Functionally it has achieved a higher heat than my Ti io making darker ABV with much more potent vapour. It has a nice sheen and is no less or more premium in appearance, it's fairly identical, but the extra 6.7g weight really causes a bigger presence in hand especially with the SS PFE combo (68.7g). My old PFE seems to match perfectly with the io and paired with some nice glass...

It's a proper 10/10 experience, what this pen achieves is quite a sensation. A next level appliance.

thanks MoltenTiger that you say the same like i said that the SS has more Power than the TI in opposition what all others say at now;)
Well in terms of power, the Ti is probably tuned to 75W but the heater on mine won't get material darker than a light brown, still a decent extraction but it doesn't seem to be able to as rapidly extract so it's hard to clear a bowl with just one hit.
I mentioned the lottery type experience because it seems like there is a few different styles that these devices can behave like. This has always been the case even back in the 35W days, then there was the 45W final legacy heater and now the 65W SS io and 75W Ti. The system was capable of this type of hit from the get go, it was just a matter of luck as to who received what and each device had its own signature. Other people will have Ti units that achieve the desirable dark roast too, my Ti just takes too long to properly do it where as this SS is very rapid and pumps out dense cloud from the get go and depletes 0.12g hits in 30 seconds, super dense and tasty vapour.

My advice?: Quit putting your Hopper near your ears and start placing it closer to your mouth.

Or: put your money where your mouth is, not your ears. ;)

They do make a bit of noise but I hardly ever notice. As long as they work that’s all that matters. But yes, an odd and abnormal noise may indicate an issue if you’re attuned to what it should sound like - and you have good hearing. Mine ain’t that great these days and I seldom notice any noise from my OG or IO, but they both work. That’s all that matters.

My glass J hooks should arrive soon, purposely purchased to mate with my Hoppers. Never had J hooks and look forward to using them with some higher temps for added cooling/filtration. Should be fun. :peace:

If you wanna test the sound..turn on your hopper and slowly unscrew the rear end to just the point where it makes and breaks contact. You can hear the tone jump and change as it cycles.

did you have eaten a clown for breakfast this morning?

Edit:
I don't feel like sharing my experiences with you anymore "for now". you don't care about it anyway, even if i haven't read some of my experiences with the hopper here. much fun yet.

I mostly only appreciate one here anyway. thx for all to MoltenTiger ;) so i say buy for some days

These GHB3s have taken a while to charge.

Wasn't prepared so had to hook up the SS io to the mains. Swapped out the Ti io for it, as this new one is outperforming it by far.
This SS io is like magic, it properly works. Crazy clouds that peak fast and fade out in about a 30-40 second blast. Perfect one hitter spec.

Just the best thing, near sublimator level of effectivity, such a heavy hitter. And the low temp hits are incredible. It's the ultimate vape and it's next level having one that works this perfectly again.

I've heard heavy fog refered to as pea soup before, and this little pen delivers just that. Super satisfying tokes, and the SS works very nicely direct too.

_20210109_000105.JPG

The Ti io is decent, but it struggles to squeeze everything out of the material. Where as the SS on max temp just obliterates as soon as you click. It's so good, and I'll be putting it through its paces with no mercy. See how long this marval remains :science:

Basically this unit is a portable sublimator, but the low temp ultra dense hits are a whole new realm too, familiar territory, but it has been a while since I've had this type of performance, and only from a hopper. Amazing signature, it offers a massive amount of what the plant offers in such a punch.

I think this would have to be competing for the best vapour experience possible, and it's ultra portable and instant on.

finally someone who writes the truth about the differences between SS and TI. but about 30 pages before two some wrote the same

And only the SS is worlds better than the Tinymight, in extraction + taste.

no chance for Tinymight but only the SS. and away

I'm not saying that you are wrong. I am, however, dubious of your findings. I don't believe everything I read on the internet....even if posted by pot-heads lol. My OG's of SS and Ti were shockingly similar in functionality. My new SS io is fantastic. I expect my io Ti on the way will be similarly great. I assume that no two Hoppers function identically. I further assume that when working 'correctly' any two Hoppers should +/- perform similarly.

I can't conjure a logical explanation for why a Hopper of XX material vs. XY material would altogether or routinely outperform the other. It just doesn't make sense.

I think that its much more likley that there are individual "over"tuned units that just run a bit hotter. Id be willing to bet that there is a much bigger gap between over tuned and normal/undertuned units than there is between SS and Ti units over 5 watts
I had two different OG SS that behaved very differently

Agreed 1000%

....and I sure do like the way my io behaves....lol it is really an awesome herb pen.

agreed. I go for it even before my solo2 and thats saying something because the solo is/was my #1 go to..but the IO blows it out of the water..even though they made it heat up faster..by the time it hits 400-428 My IO alredy has me fucked up LOL.. like a souped up super car vs a 93 stock civic.

Hey all! Has anyone who ordered the discounted Ti over the New Year weekend gotten confirmation of shipping yet? I know it's only been a week, and I have learned to cultivate rivers of patience when dealing with Hopper Labs, but I am so eager to try the IO I am struggling with the anticipation! Thanks!

Nope. I emailed them and was informed that they had unexpected high order volume over that weekend but that they expected to ship by last Friday. Mine did not ship Friday.

I ordered a new PFE from them at New Years, it will arrive tomorrow. It took a week for them to ship and I received no notification when they did. Have you checked the site to see if it has been sent?

After a several month wait (gave up on the colored Ti and switched the order to plain) I finally got my io. Initial reaction is not good at all. Even with the heat on max, all I can get is a wisp. I was expecting it to be way hotter, but I can take long slow draws without feeling like I’m scorching my lungs. After several hits, the ABV doesn’t look much different than when I put it in- I’ve seen the photos of toasty looking ABV but I don’t see how that’s possible with my GH.

Now to contact HL again....

I ordered my IO and extra battery on Jan. 3 (Sunday) and they shipped it Jan. 7 (Thursday). I've been lucky enough to not have a shipment come through USPS in a little while (through the holiday rush season) so I'm hoping it doesn't take too long to get to Canada but I guess I'll see.

Maybe I’m expecting too much from the io. I’m admittedly spoiled by my regular setup: the Underdog log vape through a medium sized glass bong. One small pinch, one long toke = huge cloud.
I wasn’t asking for that kind of performance from my original hopper, but thought the more powerful heater of the io would equate to bigger hits.

Did you clean your IO upon arrival? Sorry to hear you’re having an issue. Mine worked out of the gate and still works fine 4+ months now. I did thoroughly clean it before its first use (threads were dirty). Not sure what you’ve done or tried to remediate. :peace:

Well that sucks. I hope you can get it sorted out and without too much extra waiting or mucking around. Disappointing to see this still.

I have read the odd person reporting good performance from their Ti, but I'm seeing a massive difference between my new SS io and my pre-order Ti. My Ti does produce some decent clouds, but this SS is drastically faster at extraction and actually depletes the material very rapidly. The Ti seems to just keep trying but never really gets there.

I will probably ping HL about it too, it's way better having a unit that works like this SS. It's a very big difference in every way - effects, clouds, residue, ABV - all taken to the next level.

I'd like to hear some more reports and see some ABV pics from different people. I wonder about the functionality between the different devices, I assumed more power equals a better performing device, but my SS has a way better dynamic. In practice it seems like there is no difference actually worthwhile considering the price gap.

I haven't turned my Sublimator on since getting the SS Hopper io and the difference is actually negligible, which is incredible. My Ti is a wimp by comparison, but does have better flavour..

My hopper line up at the moment is a very cool blue legacy, a normal HT legacy, a cool session type Ti io, and the SS ultimate vape.

I also have a Sublimator, Dynavap M, TUBOx, StemPod, JetPack, MFLB and none of it is really of any use given the SS io keeps working, which I hope it does.

But I mostly hope that HL can offer this performance from every single hopper as it is the only reason to be a fanatic. If it wasnt for the potential the whole ordeal is totally silly, but damn it is it worth enduring whatever it takes to obtain that potential.
