Sigh. Has anyone actually received (or even seen) a battery labeled GHB3? I don’t recall this either now but I’m inclined to say no (I follow here regularly out of stupid curiosity). Again, call me skeptical perhaps because my legacy Hopper’s performance the last week or so is like pre-RMA. Maybe it needs another thorough cleaning or perhaps what batts I have no longer work well.I thought the same thing and said so before, but someone pulled forth a quote from post-fire saying that the batteries being manufactured are GHB3 ... let me dig it up ... (I remember the same as you but have already been corrected ... ...)
Edit: Hopper io by Hopper Labs
Edit Edit: So I have no idea what to believe ... I'd say I'm leaning at about a 30-40% chance the new cells are GHB3's ... HL has indicated both that they are GHB3's and GHB2's depending what message/post/conversation you are talking about .... and the labels say they are GHB2's ... and the web site says they are GHB3's ... who knows ... again ... pretty standard practice for HL ... misdirection and confusing information followed by ghosting its existing customer base for extended periods of time while soaking a new customer base (and some of their existing) for additional yet to be available products ... some that have already been sold but not delivered to existing customers ...
Sorry if any of my battery posts have been unclear, but to clarify, I am not sure anything has been "confirmed" about the b2/b3 question except that the information we have poses a conflict; we don't know. I did say that I consider that statement on the website to likely be valid (that b3's are being shipped even though "some" are mis-labeled as b2's) until shown to be otherwise. I think it's their most recent word on the subject. It was confirmed not long ago herein or just before the old FC thread closed down that “GHB3” is a long-term idea. The latest batch of 1000 batteries HL got and hopefully another much larger shipment will be GHB2, just different wrap. I hope shelf life of these is better than the pre fire ones which are garbage. I’m 0 for 2 with the ones taken out of mothballs (kitty litter, and the cells were wrapped in cellophane in the litter). I like the idea of the IO making better use of battery life but it’s only possible at the expense of the battery, which needs to be better and more consistent IMO :twocents:
EDIT: the above was paraphrased from @vapviking’s post not long ago and predicated on additional capital. Whether HL received it and applied it to what many assume to be GHB3 with the latest shipment of batteries is the real question. My opinion is the latest shipment of batteries is just the newest GHB2s (and HL should remove reference of it from their site).
Yup.I thought the same thing and said so before, but someone pulled forth a quote from post-fire saying that the batteries being manufactured are GHB3 ... let me dig it up ... (I remember the same as you but have already been corrected ... ...)

Yes I have multiple OG Hoppers and have done tests with them in the past. While the 16 draws on the new Hopper IO battery is one of the highest I have recorded, it is not a record. I had a battery last 18 1/2 draws in an OG SS Hopper once. I have NOT tested the SAME battery in an IO and an OG, so I cannot provide a direct comparison.
No worries! Indeed there’s lots of confusion not much to the fault of our own. If HL would again make its presence known and answer this crap once and for all, we’d get someplace. Regarding sending new batts to IO purchasers before older accessory orders, it’s about money (what else for HL?). I don’t think it’s right either as I’ve been waiting over a year too for new batts, but wait is all I can do. HL has buried their head in the sand lately, defensive posture for sure. Not good timing, IMO. Let’s see what happens in a week or two...Sorry if any of my battery posts have been unclear, but to clarify, I am not sure anything has been "confirmed" about the b2/b3 question except that the information we have poses a conflict; we don't know.
Rinse, repeat ad infinitum.Let’s see what happens in a week or two...
Thats interesting because HL claims thats ´gold-plated mechanical contacts and faster extraction yield a 40% jump in battery life’.
So even if the battery that is shipping with the IO is a GHB2, you should have more draws compared to the OG Hopper.....
At this time there are a lot of reason to think that the specs on the IO site are not exact.... Because if the batteries were GHB3 as they claim you should have more battery life, and / or if there was really 40% jump in battery life, thanks to the IO upgrade, you should have noticed this .....
I have never had an OG Hopper and i think the IO is just the same without the hot backend and without the led flickering problem.... and better airflow...(which is already a great update!) I dont doubt the IO is a beast, i have ordered one in December, but Hopper Labs are not very explicit about the IO...
I wonder if HL even knows the old thread was closed, lol. Their renewed silence is deafening. Maybe just maybe they’ll figure things out.i do not think Hopper Labs has signed up for an account in the New FC, which may be one reason for their silence.
Better the PO rather than Hopper LabsPost office is taking forever to deliver my IO
my Hopper stays since 4 June and nothing changes on the shipping statusPost office is taking forever to deliver my IO
USPS is slower than usual these days. Had a package stuck leaving the US for a month until it caught a flight. Not sure if it is US Customs, USPS, the airlines or AOTA. Plug the tracking number into DHL as it may show progress there moreso than USPS once it gets to German customs.nothing changes on the shipping status

Every country is different with how it handles customs control, but once the hand-off from USPS to DHL happens, you should see some status there. Not sure if it will be before or after they assess VAT/duty but it should be somewhere there about when it shows up in DHL. Hope you get it soon and there is minimal hangup (and minimal VAT).DHL says nothing
Yes, the frontends are interchangeable between the Grasshopper and Hopper io. The new frontend on the io is supposed to have slightly better cooling than the old frontend and my experience so far correlates with that.Does anyone have the Grasshopper OG in SS and the Hopper IO in SS?
I only ask because I would like to know whether the old frontend can be screwed onto the Hopper IO without any problems?
Got a response from support, it only took a week and a day... They will replace my body and front end (I chose to keep the backend due to serial < 100).
Nice to know someone is answering some emails there. Some encouraging newsI emailed hopper support today asking for conversion to plain ti if it would speed up the long standing RMA - they have emailed me back the same day to say they are (understandably) backed up due to Covid. They said they would convert to plain Ti and despatch ASAP. They said they would ship it today but I don’t know if they have yet.
good to know they are still trying to get up and running!
Hoping my new hopper is as good as I remember the OG was!
fingers crossed
