Would definitely be interested in a comparison between the 2. The idea of no stirring seems to be one of the strong points
I was asked on Vapelife to compare the square to other popular on demand portables. Here was my response. Let me know if you'd like additional details. Keep in mind I don't have a production unit just yet....

Honestly this is all too subjective but I'll throw a few comments out.

I never tried the MV1 but I do have a buddy sending me one to try.

Own a FW3 but never tried the FW4. For me the FW3 was ok. It had nice taste but getting dense vapor was a challenge and it was also hot. My vote would be to the Square on this one.

Grasshopper is in my collection and gets used occasionally. Mainly through water or with a J hook because again the vapor is hot and the mouthpiece gets hot. Density probably goes to the Hopper over the Square but it beats out most portables and it's not that the Square is lacking. Taste is different but probably on par with each other. They are both using a metal airpath instead of my preferred glass where I think the taste takes the edge.

Mist Touch was not all that impressive to me. I tried one on loan. Part of it is because I'm a big Milaana fan and I really don't feel the MVT compares. I can get much more consistent tasty vapor out of the Milaana without some of the hot spots the MVT gives. I would take the Square any day here..

Elevape I have not used in a long time. I could never get consistent results here either. I had some of the best vapor ever but also many combustion events/hot spots so just moved on. Again I would take the Square any day.

The other thing is I continue to tweak (firmware and heat settings) and I still don't have a production unit. I was one of several beta testers provinding feedback so I am interested to see the culmination of all our feedback with the final unit. We didn't share information during the testing.

Bottom line for me is I still probably prefer the vapor quality of my glass air path on demand convection vapes like the Milaana, Splinter, Zion and Tubo but the Square offers features and convenience those don't so there is a place in my collection for it. I also think it will shake out to be one of the best values on the market at this price point. Under $200 is pretty amazing for what you are getting here.

Nice one for all you share with us here and everywhere. We really appteciate your effort and inputs.
Funnily, I almost joined the queue earlier to shoot you a specific comparison request, which you have covered briefly above. I may hound you down at a later point hehe but am good to deliberate for some time now. Thanks again for sharing all your thoughts and the dedication to R&D and the huge sacrifices (and dangers) it carries.;)

Yes anytime. I am fortunate to have a big collection and a lot of experience. I am always happy to share my opinions but let's remember they are just my opinions. If anyone wants my take on something specific just let me know. Most of the collection is listed in my signature but I can probably speak beyond that.

"We are expecting inventory tomorrow or early monday. All orders should be out by Wednesday/Thursday"

That was their reply to me via PM... stay tuned!!

So, doubt that many will get it by 4/20 as assumed but it's coming nonetheless!!! :brow::rockon:

Summer

Long Island, NY
Even if they shipped out as late as Saturday, then Sunday nite the PO system would be up & running again for the week, &, if first class (sorry, don't know), everyone in the US should have them in 3 or 4 days, 5 max. So that would be 2 weeks max. from today. So it's finally happening.

beta'd for a short bit...interested to try the production model! there were alot of qualities the square had that I enjoyed, having four chambers loaded and ready to go is ideal (for me anyways) if only i could find someone local who isnt scared to tape me while I vape in some places i probably shouldn't BUT on demand vaporizers give you that freedom. I'm semi patiently waiting!

The Beta was nice...hence the interest in the production model. I wasn't able to give it as thorough a beating as I'd have liked. I'll save that for the production unit...i like the tweaks they made too

:mmmm:Florida....

it's still snow on the ground here!!!

I HATE the snow! i felt differently when I lived in california though (i missed it) but as an adult, it is too inconvenient.

The only month on record there WASN'T snow up here is JULY!

that's the reason my videos have been indoors these past few months

hopefully it's warm(er) when the square shows up!

What's that? Like- "Aritificial" Intelligence Light? :hmm:

No joke though. It is fast shaping into a reality this premonition of the advancement of A.I. They are already SO BADLY pushing ideals and values, of absurdly redundant and pathetic TOTAL dependence on A.I and technology in general.

"Alexa, wipe my ass please"..."Wiped!" No shit man. Scary thing is- people are falling right into it. Talk about getting back to nature, which is what is really needed in line with sensible and optimum use of the amazing technology we have the potential to develop and share (or just-release).

Instead the TV commercials try to impregnate visions/norms of mindless, unconscious imbeciles who can't look after their own kids for half an hour without "Google Parent" present in the room! Lol, funny because it is becoming true!

I remember when I was a kid, by the age of four we were running around the neighborhood in our underwear until 2200 hours at night. No leash, free range kids back then. Not saying this was good either and probably a central reason I was a 'budding' herb connoisseur at the ripe old age of 12.

:myday:
Ditto, pretty much anyway, so I know exactly what you mean. Im still young at 38 but things have changed one heck in that time. I consider myself very lucky- I had a truly great childhood.
Freedom, adventure, fun, excitement. No fear, no internet, mobile etc.
And less than 1 % of the EMF exposure of now. Probably more like 0.1%!

Or 0.01%. Honestly it is one of the utter madnesses of our times this rapid and exponential increase ib EMF's with all smart meters and lifestyle hazards already. And they have the bright idea for 5G with trilions of antenna EVERYWHERE!

I can only hope for the best. I am so glad for my priceless childhood. I do also really enjoy my vapes nowadays as well, and my hopes for the future are always high.

I finally got the chance to check out a pre order model yesterday, didn't use it but got to play around with it. Interesting unit, form factor is decent. Not too big, definitely manageable for a portable.

Accessing the bowl area was not easy. I foresee this being difficult for users with dexterity and hand strength issues. Taking it apart and putting it back together took a decent amount of force. Pulling out the silicone that wraps around the bowls and trying to put it back with a tight seal was extremely difficult even for someone without any hand or finger issues. This silicone piece is going to get mangled overtime by the sharp metal. I didn't bother trying to take apart the screen area for fear of not being able to put it back in place properly without the necessary tool.

This unit has never been used and is scratched and flaking quite a bit. The crucibles were scratched on the rims and on the underside of the air holes. There were visible black flakes in the packaging even.. All this flaking was ending up everywhere. In the heater coil area, was visible on the light coloured ceramic portion as black dust. So I'm sure it could pass through the air path as well. The front and back of the bowl "housing" was noticeably scratched up as well. Wasn't impressed with this at all.

I know that it's been said that these issues have been somewhat addressed but I'm wondering why even send out the aluminum version bowls with some preorder units at all if this is known outcome.. I'm definitely going to want the SS versions with the updated coating.

The main pin was not easily set and rotation of the unit felt like it was catching on something, most likely the bowls and housing causing the scratching and flaking.

Not too stoked about having to buy the tool separately, seems like a necessity. Have no idea how you'd get a tight seal without it.

With an empty chamber, reaching temp on highest heat setting took a lot longer than expected. 10-20 seconds, having to hold the button down for that long is not ideal for myself. Was expecting it to be more on demand.

Anyways, can't say much about performance yet as I didn't try the unit but I'm still hopeful. As long as all the other issues are cleared up.

These were all pointed out 2 months ago, discussed, also self-critisized and already addressed in this upcoming release. “Why these were even shipped?” question was also answered, self-criticized and addressed 2 months ago. We now need to see what users will say about the upcoming release.

The new software and firmware is 3-5 second initial heat up and 1-2 second between draws. This was announced as one of the differences between the first batch and upcoming batch so it won’t be a concern.

Great to know this was addressed two months ago. So how do purchasers know which crucible versions they're going to be receiving? Cause I for one have no interest in the aluminum versions and after having posted this previously on the forum many other users agreed with me.

You guys made changes to the way the silicone mat sits in the bowl housing? And made it easier to open close the bowl chamber? Great!

Yes the units are now easier to open close without much force. The pods are not going to flake because we used thicker anodization plus the correct tolerance on the heater so nothing scrapes the bottom. We also designed stainless steel pods for those who prefer them and we are expecting them with this shipment coming in but there is a slight chance that they may not make it here on time before we start shipments and we are not going to hold shipments for those. The pods we had before , were designed and tested for health and safety under normal operation. These pods are no different than kitchenware and totally safe to use. If we did not have tolerance issue the last time, there would be no flaking/cosmetic issue at all as well but this time around, we made sure that it is addressed.

The units heat up in 5 secs. There are users on this forum where we upgraded their firmware and they can confirm this as well.

Members who prefer stainless pods (which may have longer than 5 sec heat up time so keep that in mind please) , please send me a PM so we can hold their order until those pods are here. @guyonthecouch , please pm me your order id.

Thank you.
