@Haze Vaporizers Having to get a specific style thumb drive to update a firmware in this day and ages borders on insane. This can’t be done hard wired in the app??
I for one feel that combustion events are primarily related to square software and hope this firmware update alleviates it somewhat. I would prefer having to hold the button a little longer before green if it means that the temps it runs up to to bring the vape to temp are lower (800degrees has been stated). As @paytonpenn had also eluded to, I have had combustion events where every other variable (including ambient temperature & technique) had not changed from a previous pull, sometimes just seconds after a non combustion pull and after explicitly setting the temp via the + - buttons.@Haze Vaporizers
I just saw that you released a new firmware today. That are the changes?

I third that! I can't even set my temps because I don't have Win 10.I do have to agree.
I also just got an email from haze to do the firmware update.
I've noticed I'm having more consistent charging with the USB charger for my computer compared to the wall charger.

After going through a few bowls, this is basically what I found. The lower temps have been for the most part useless in getting vapor. I bumped my temps up now to around 390 410 420 430 450. I'm noticing I have to pull pretty hard to get decent vapor. Whenever I draw slow the auto vibrate shutoff happens sooner and no vapor is produced in the time that it is on, similar to the Grasshopper. Once I draw hard though and fight the resistance it starts to produce better vapor. Nothing huge, but decent. Is the unit supposed to vibrate and auto-end your hit after 15 seconds or something? My unit has also yet to "auto shutoff after 45 seconds of inactivity". I think I've let it sit for a few minutes or so without hitting and I still see the blue light. Is this a problem do you think? Is it wasting lots of battery sitting on or keeping the heater constantly on?
I don't believe my battery would be able to make it through 4 bowls with how long a bowl takes. Maybe I should just start on higher temps and see how quickly I can bust out a bowl. Also maybe I need to pack differently...I do what I thought I saw recommended in the manual, a medium-fine grind and packed pretty hard. Maybe I need to pack more but pack lighter. Not sure. Will experiment!
had change the settings I left the unit off and connected to my pc USB 2.0 for over an hour and it was still charging... by then put the unit on the USB 3.0 for about 30 minutes it was still charging .... and then put the unit to the wall adapter it charged in about 20 minute
Unless we get Bluetooth on this device, the phone app is not a possibility. Again, it is not a preference but limitation. We think that we may find a way for Android which our team is working on but IOS app is not a possibility at the moment.
The MAC is awaiting final approval here.
The last firmware upgrade is recommended to everybody to provide extra security for your Square against issues related to voltage fluctuation.
Please do the firmware upgrade and it should take care of inconsistencies but if you still see problems with your particular unit, please PM me so we can assist you.
I totally agree with you. That's why I specifically asked your question to the team and I just updated my post above with what they said. I will inquire more about this topic to explore further possibilities. This forum has many people with strong IT backgrounds which can generate ideas.I hear you on Bluetooth. But while the device is wired into the computer I should be able to update the firmware in the app on a desktop. Not placed onto a thumb drive that isn’t supplied
If there is a way to also program a mode for user controllable temp adjustment, for those without tech access that would be cool. For example the Firewood 5 has 3 presets available and you can use the single button to cycle through 8 temperature levels to give to each preset their own temp. I'm sure Square could display different color every 30F or so and it just moves at 5 degree intervals at a time.Unless we get Bluetooth on this device, the phone app is not a possibility. I asked this to our engineer and here is the response below. Again, it is open to discussion to anyone on this forum who has knowledge on this topic:
"We have done this in the past on other products and have had many issues with the PC driver not talking correctly to the device when in bootloader mode. The bootloader is a very low level program that the device is forced into to reprogram the device. Getting the bootloader to read a flash drive is relatively simple and always works. Getting the bootloader to play with everyone's PC on the planet has proven to be a crap shoot and makes many people upset. The USB drive just works."
A usb-c converter should also work for any flash drive. One came in the box with my Samsung phone. You don’t want to tamp hard. You are not suppose to pack this like a Pax. I was getting great hits last night. Pack full bowls and tamp ever so slightly. Just to keep the material even in the pod.
I guess the voltage fluctuation will possibly help in better battery performance? I can’t update yet, maybe in a few weeks when I can get my hands on this USB c flash drive.

and the manufacturers have not been pushing it. Probably because the public hates change.
Yep. I have two flashdrives one did not work and I think its because of the format NTFS. I believe the 2nd one I tried was FAT32 like it should be. (Although maybe it was just bad luck but my PNY didn't work and the cheapstore brand did)A usb-c converter should also work for any flash drive. One came in the box with my Samsung phone.
In my experience default charger is the only reliable charger. I've used several USB-C chargers and watched it charge over an hour when it was already charged.Something else I've noticed.
When plugged into my car / computer instead of the built in wall charger, the firmware behaves differently. With the car/computer, if I plug in and it doesn't start charging, I can hold down the center button and it'll glow yellow. If I let go it still glows yellow. If I press again it blinks yellow / green repeatedly. If I unplug and plug back it sometimes tends to do the trick to start the charge.
With the wall charger this doesn't happen, and instead it'll show the battery life color while pressing, and once I let go it's no light again, as if the unit was naturally off and not plugged in.
So when connected to USB computer / car, it is aware it is plugged in but not charging. Thinking the update will fix this as it seems I be a firmware issue.
Also does anyone ever have to triple click twice to turn on? Sometimes I triple click and vibrates once but doesn't stay on. I do it again and itll turn on.

Yup. I have to do the 3 click cycle twice every time I turn it on. The first time it vibrates and flashes the light but doesn’t stay one. Second time it turns on
Unfortunately it doesn't work 90% of the time. Hoping the firmware upgrade will fix the charging with the wall charger. In my experience default charger is the only reliable charger. I've used several USB-C chargers and watched it charge over an hour when it was already charged.
Yes that's fine also.https://m.gearbest.com/chargers-cables/pp_1010368.html?wid=1433363
Would this work?
a type c 3.0 male to female 2.0 usb (with usb 2.0 16gb SANDISK thumb drive)
Yeah you don't open it you drag it to an empty flash drive. Then connect that drive to the Square.Unfortunately it doesn't work 90% of the time. Hoping the firmware upgrade will fix the charging with the wall charger.
Edit
Also, I tried to download the firmware and it says I have nothing to open the file with..do I not need to open it? Will I just drag it from my recent downloads onto the harddrive and it'll do it's job without having anything to open it with?
