@luke007, thank you for the info and the new picture.

Looking at the new picture, it looks like USB port is soldered on the circuit board, right? If that's the case, then I was mistaken initially -- I thought that USB charging port was attached to part 6. I'm also not clear on the wiring. Why are there 4 wires? Can you post one more picture showing the back side of the circuit board where the wires are originating from?

Ya the 4 wires enter the board and are soldered in the back as per picture.

I think the rubber ring sits under the ceramic chamber and metal housing with the airholes? I'm not please about that either.

Yup you are right. The silicone seal is under the large hole, not top, but yea wasnt too happy about it myself.

From one of your previous pics, the ceramic chamber is surrounded by a rubber gasket kind of thing labeled #2, and sits on a rubber insulator labeled #5?

Just got an idea. Two of the wires might be thermal probes providing temperature feedback from and the other two supplying power to the chamber. But you only see two soldering points under the chamber, right?

Ya the ceramic chamber, now broken fully :( sits on 5, and 2 sits on top of the chamber and 1 seals it fully. That would make sense to monitor the temperature control.

That ceramic chamber is so fragile is crazy. Any ideas on what else i could use? Im thinking a small copper tube but i dont know if thats just going to over heat the inside now.

You need an insulator to keep the heat in. Metal tubes won't work.

I think at this point you are better off to keep these as spare parts. And you have a nice spare battery :)

3-4x 1.5 mm airholes should be more than enough. The best spot to drill them in is near the level of the positive terminal since those batteries tend to vent from the top. If you want more info just search in some ecigs forums for ppl drilling their mech mods.

Do I need any ulterior attachments (that aren't included in the package) to use the FocusVape Pro with concentrates?

I think it's not included, I never tried the resin capsule which would be better designed for charras. But the coton/hemp fiber stuff works well!
Could you explain the method to me? Could it not clog up the chamber if the charas oil oozes and escapes?

The better would be to wrap a thin noodle of charas in coton/hemp fiber so the oil/goodies will soak in the coton/hemp fiber and will not make a mess in your vape. Use small amount only.

I've tried the hemp fiber. I'm not sure if this is the case with all hemp fiber but mine added a level of sweetness to the taste that was REALLY pleasant.

Oh, and I forgot to mention how easy it is to load and clean and maintain. I have a video, it's a bad, first attempt video, but I think it still makes it's point on how great the Focus Pro can perform, even when the person using it is having some issues. LOL!!

There were still 3 or 4 more good hits they took after the video ended as well.
Whoa! That's the first I've seen someone get those sort of hits in a vid of this vape. Did you use the WPA or just fit the vape native onto the glass?

EDIT - Oh my, I was about to pull the trigger on this vape but saw @korya posting about the battery housing just in time. Is this a dealbreaker or can a quick fix at home solve the issue adequately? Has anyone emailed the manufacturer about this? This sounds super scary!

It's an entry level vape. Mine sits unused since I got the CF Vape and seeing the stuff posted about the battery issues I doubt it will see any further action.

It would be really nice if they would offer us a free cap when they make one or at least to get only that part for cheap. anyone asked?

Hey @His_Highness - did you email the manufacturers? What did they reply? Any idea how long until these vented caps go into production? Should I hold off on ordering until then?

I'm sorry - I don't have an answer other than they agreed to vent the cap. If/When I know more I'll get right back to ya. It's only fair...I know you folks would do the same for me.

Focus is going to modify their molds so that the battery cap will have venting holes in it. Best estimate until these new versions are available in the supply chain is around two months. I'm still waiting to hear if they will make just the caps available in any way to people who already have one.

If you've got one and are concerned about it, I suggest trying to drill your own holes in the cap or side of the battery compartment as was already mentioned, since there will not be another option available until mid-summer.

I'm stoked to see pics of a tear down...this thing is a tank and I couldn't get mine apart. I'm starting to make it a habit of tearing apart units at the end of my testing and it's pretty commonplace to see silicone gaskets at the top and/or bottom of ceramic ovens. And you've got to make the wire connections somehow, so solder as well. As long as they are using high temp silicones and the right solder it's fine. I'll ask them about the materials used for the silicone and solder as well.

Thanks so much for chasing this ALL down @stickstones !!!!!! Greatly appreciated.

It's events like this that remind me why I enjoy having you as my go-to retailer.

Glad to hear that the manufacturer reacted and is trying to fix the issues! My focusvape is allrdy back to the retailer but i might be willing to try out another one later this year after the fixes.

I also wanted to point out again the other problem i saw with the device and thats the spring on the positive pin of the device, think that got abit lost.
The spring just shouldnt be there (its asking for trouble IMO), it seems to be glued on with epoxy and could get detatched or bend and then short out the positive side of the battery with the negative (the whole housing in this case). The spring should be on the negative side , i.e. the battery cap, far away from positive end where it could produce a short.

Hey korya,
once I get a reply to my previous email, I will certainly point out this design flaw as well. Let's hope they respond favourably!
