Awesome! What coil setup do you have and where are you setting the PWM, if you don't mind? @Sn4Pz
This is my exact setup:

And this is where my dial is set at. Sorry for the large pictures... how do I scale them down? Lol.

Cant wait to grab my replacement charger tomorrow, thank you again for shipping that @mr_cfromcali !!! I'm tired of taking out the batteries once a day

I think a great addition would be some closed cell neoprene rubber on both sides of the battery sleds. I know those cant touch the casing, its the PCB, but if they're padded enough it shouldn't be able to move at all 🤔

The batteries will get hot during use, and a small air gap is good. I'm not sure you'd want to insulate them even more. :hmm:

There should be a small silicone tensioning disk between the white rectangular relay and the rear of the case, anchoring the whole thing into the case. I can't see it in your photo, so I may have forgotten to install that disc in your heater. If I omitted that rear disk, you can use one of the thicker levelling discs from the underside of the case. Cut it in half and put a piece behind the white relay to anchor the PCB to the case.

If that disk is installed and fits loosely, you can narrow the gap by adding a small piece of masking tape or electrical to the inside of the case, opposite the rubber disk.

Hope that helps.

Also, just to set some appropriate expectations, I see Fluxer taking an immediate hiatus from new and direct sales shortly before the new regs come into effect. I am looking to see what sorts of regulatory compliant alternatives I may have for the future.
I’m sorry to hear this. I think the level of craftsmanship which has gone into building these devices is really incredible.

Has anyone tried cables such as this one to charge their Flux Deluxe? https://www.amazon.com/Blind-SPOT-Adapter-Device-Battery/dp/B08CCX5S96 (presumably this exact one won't work, it's 12V but 3A rather than 1A). I assume that since I haven’t seen folks in this thread talking about using similar cables that such a thing won't work, but maybe I'm wrong :)

Dammit this whole situation sucks!
I don't think this ban will last for cannabis vaporizers, there's just too much money involved.
Hopefully the fact that cannabis can be used as medicine will play a part in reversing the decision.

I think someone, somewhere is plotting against me to make sure I'll never get my hands on my purple Fluxer Deluxe! :hmm:

On the other hand I got my repairs back from @mr_cfromcali yesterday, god I missed my IH so much!
I'm gonna take a little bit of time to get reacquainted with them and I'll be back with my thoughts and some photos when I'll have a moment.

What is really f'ing unfortunate about this situation is that it is super ambiguous so if they can imply that the device *could* be used in any way as any part of a vaporizer or in conjunction with anything else to assist in vaporizing you can be added to an FBI list for shipping it without prior consent...

That's like saying you can't ship paper because it could be used to roll a tobacco cigarette.

Does anyone know if a Mighty charger will work with a Flite? I'm thinking particularly of the cigarette lighter charger. My MIghty wall charger says its output is 12v @ 3a, so I assume the car charger is the same. The plug seems to fit, but I don't know if it's center positive. I see that the Flite's charge rate is 12v @ 1a, but I don't understand electronics well enough to know if it can handle the extra 2a.

@Cannabiker - the charger wants to be 12.6V. This is the state at which the batteries will become fully charged. Car chargers can over 12.6V which is not good for the batteries. The internal battery management system [BMS] should protect to severe levels but keep this in mind.

The BMS also regulates the charge current. I think it tops out at something like 2 amps. I have not put a 10 amp charger on one to be sure but know that there is a level of regulation going on.

Charging to only 12V could leave the cells only 3/4 charged or less. Nothing wrong with that but the cells will want to be topped off at some point in the future.

Edit; I checked - the BMS will allow better than 30 watts of charge current. the KeepPower cells are rated for 1.1 amp charge rate. I need to adjust my charger. I have been charging at 1.5 amps/20 watts.

Flite #16 returned back to NH in record time. Thanks Jeff, it's melting wax perfectly! Love this thing. I'm a fan of the 16mm coil, even if it's less efficient, thank you so much.

Cool, @Jethro ! Glad it got there and is working.

Fuck tha man! I hope these new regs dont effect anything in me getting my wax heating cosmetic beauty devices from you.

I hear ya, but unfortunately this law is definitely, 100% gonna stop me from vending these after mid-March. 👮‍♂️⚖️

I can't continue to sell and operate Fluxer as I had been doing, period. The law has some add'l monthly, state-by-state reporting demands that I just can't fulfill; they are intended to weed out small businesses such as mine, and they are effective at doing that. Fluxer may not be entirely dead and I'd love to do more with these designs since they're very stable and both are working well, so we'll see if I can finan avenue for them.

I hope to explore these and other ideas after I wrap up the solo effort, but until then, I'm doing what I can to put more of my heaters into people's hands.

Thanks for the support!

Would this effect repairs / upgrades at all down the road? Hope you can find a way to pivot and continue to deliver quality products <3

I’m not sure and am researching that.

I build these to be sturdy and repairable as we both want them to last for a very long time. I don’t make the law, though. The “final” formulation of the new rules will be posted on or by April 27, which is 120 days after the law passed. We may need to wait for that to find out if either of us can ship a device like this legally. It’s crazy.

I’ll share as much info as I have about the repair situation before I put more heaters up for sale, but USPS and the feds have the final say on what can be sent through the mail.

Great question, @fak!

And who knows, maybe the final version of the regs will clear a path for Fluxer, in which case I’ll be back in a hurry.

My crystal ball is pretty murky at the moment, so unfortunately we will need to wait and see what is permitted.

SEARCH for the treasure...

I believe it’s a bit too late to close the barn door, as the horse has left...

As an ECig user, I’ve been following this for years, my freezer is half full of 100mg nicotine liquid, as many items were potential ban items originally. I’ve donated money to the resistance, etc. But the BIG money companies, like BIG TOBACCO, as well as the misinformed public calling for vape bans, are close to winning. A lot of vape banning plans have been considered over the past 3 years, or longer, but they finally got smart and simple, CUT OFF the delivery system. As Jeff already stated, this will kill all the little companies, and only the larger companies that can afford all the time, lawyers and paperwork, will survive and have an uncontested marketplace. It’s certainly a complicated issue, unfortunately Vape advocating has not succeeded.

Also amazed how many, especially here, have no clue what’s going down, and that’s been a big problem from the beginning, years ago. Buy hey, we have to PROTECT the CHILDREN....
or is it perhaps another reason... $$$$.

Sorry for the rant, I’m done. :(

That top link is quite good, @TommyDee ! Thanks for digging that up. This part sums up the situation I face very, very well:

Complicating matters, even if small, independent vapor retailers find carriers willing to ship their products to consumers, the compliance issues are likely beyond their means. For example, the law requires sellers to be compliant with state, local, and tribal tax laws that are inconsistent across the country and subject to change on an unpredictable basis. Currently, the human and technological resources required to fulfil these requirements are only affordable by the largest companies. Complying with federal law means that tobacco products being shipped require market authorization from the FDA, and a way for shipping companies to verify that a product and its manufacturer meet this requirement.

The net effect of the new regulations is a ban on most direct to consumer shipments of vapor products
(which is a broader category than just those associated with nicotine).

^^^ THIS! This is the piece of the new regulations that is actually going to kill Fluxer. Even if I could find a vape-friendly carrier, I can't meet the new reporting requirements.

I'll add my comments to the linked casaa.org page - thanks! - but I don't see any relief coming when they finalize these rules at the end of April.

Why arent these devices labled what they actually are.. as induction heaters used to heat scalpel blades for carving wax...that's really what it is ment for right?
@mr_cfromcali is already ahead of you lol

^^^ I'm not arguing, @RustyOldNail , that is what I call them on customs forms and such. But I also have demo videos linked on my web site and YT that show me using them to heat stuff that's definitely not a "wax carving tool," and I have a 130+ page thread on here that's light on wax carving tools but heavy with Dynavaps, so you don't have the scratch the surface too hard to figure out that people are buying these for non-wax carving tool heating purposes. Paypal is very clear they don't want to handle that business. I was squinting hard to see myself as not-quite-in-their-crosshairs, but in the end, it seems I was wrong.

OK, gonna sign off for a while and get some rest, but I'll try to end today with some more hopeful thoughts.

First, although new sales will be prohibited, repairs may be OK as long as we can find a carrier that will transport. Carrier to be determined.

Second, I didn't realize it, but I have Zelle capabilities with my business account, so my US customers should be able to use that for payment for the next three weeks. It requires US banks for both sides of the transactions, so customers outside the US with a US bank account could use this service as well. I'll have more info on that very soon, like within a day, I hope. If customers who have checks coming would prefer to use this method instead, send me an email or PM and we'll work it out.

OK, that's as much good news as I can muster at the moment, but hey, it's better than nothing. 🙃

> Many people have had success using the S&B Mighty’s charger with their 18650 IHs, is this a good match for the Fluxer Deluxe in your opinion? Sorry for all the questions! And thanking you kindly in advance!

I own a Crafty (it charges via USB) and am not familiar with the Might's PSU, but if you want to post the specs I'll take a look. It should work fine as long as it is >=12V/6A and uses a standard sized, center positive tip.

@mr_cfromcali, is this 12v6a limit for the Deluxe still current? (It’s pretty old, so I’m not sure). I assume that’s supposed to be a less-than 12v6a, given the specs of the bundled charger. What does the Deluxe’s BMS limit charge current to, if anything? (Apologies if this is a redundant question given the 12v6a figure).

I’m trying to figure out whether I ought to limit myself to 12v1a when shopping for spare chargers, and what’s the safe range if not. (This seems like the sort of thing someone has asked before, but I’m not finding it 😅)

My heaters with batteries come with chargers that output 12.6VDC @ 1 amp.
They use tips that are 2.1mm x 5.5mm, center positive. The chargers I use are generic, so any charger that meets those specs should work.

There are other, more aggressive chargers out there, but please consult your batteries and see what their specs are, as they will have a max charging rate spec, and you will want to observe that limit.

Hope that helps?
