Executive summary: I’M A BELIEVER!
Got my ESV back from Joe
@ipuffusa, very meticulously packed. Put it on the charger overnight and woke to a green light, full charge. Nothing really unusual there, but wait!
At lunch, I downloaded and fresh installed the PC app, connected the ESV and I couldn't believe it - 100% charged and still a green light!
This was not the case before I sent it in. I would see a significant drop in battery even when the unit was unused and idle for a few hours.
So this was very promising indeed! Which got me to thinking, and something to test. Perhaps someone can answer this:
After the unit was charged, I unplugged from the wall but left the USB cable connected to the vape. Now, I have to assume that the vape is always 'ON' - ready for instant use, and this will eventually discharge the battery? Is the unit actually in the 'OFF' position when a USB cable is connected? If that's the case, would you say it's a good trick to leave a USB connected - to close the circuit? Would this extend the battery while the unit sits unused for a day or more?
OK, later that evening...
Removed the stirrer from the chamber lid and employed
@Vape Dr ‘bottle cap’ screen mod, but I didn’t crimp or nibble off the baffles inside.
Filled the chamber with some B-grade, med-fine grind, and didn’t tamp the load. Temp setting #1 @ 340F
Put the lid back on and took a 3 second primer puff, immediately followed by a steady 7 second draw.
Held it in and then slowly exhaled. The flavor! OMG the taste!
2nd puff, pretty much rinse and repeat but got a little bolder and continued to draw s-l-o-w-l-y after the timeout. Well, gee-haw whammy diddle!! Right on the cusp of charring. Perfect, BANG!
3rd puff and hey this is good, let’s do it again – so I did!
By my 4th draw, I just can’t stop experimenting with this thing now and I’m getting quite baked. Better grab a pen and paper and start jotting this shit down before the details become any fuzzier.
Ah wtf, just one more hit… exhale. Wait a minute, no vapor? Keep calm. Perhaps it’s time to inspect the goodies. Hmm, roasting quite nicely. How about a little stir, seeing as I’ve got the lid off. Done. And what the heck, let’s bump the temp up to the 2nd position @ 365F.

THIS SPACE HAS BEEN LEFT BLANK INTENTIONALLY
(So I can write whatever I can remember once I’ve descended.)

“Passengers aboard Flight 420, this is your captain. We’re now flying at a very comfortable altitude, around Jupiter.”
(some time passes, I think?)
“Flight 420, this is ATC, you are now cleared for landing.”
What? Where am I? Why do I have a pen in my hand? I look up from the paper and – Hello! There’s my ESV grinning at me!
So I do as any normal citizen would and I reach for another toke.
Easy-Peasy!
How many hits is that now, 5? Definitely getting whispier but I’m feeling pretty, pretty medicated.
That was my first session with my newly restored ESV. An hour or so later I gave the material another stir, bumped the heat to level 3 @405F and got another 3 decent hits before caching out the load. I dumped it on the night stand next to me to examine. Very evenly brown but, imo, looked like I could still squeeze a couple more hits out of it.
Rather than putting it back in the ESV, I put it in my Solo at heat setting #5.
Not bad, not much flavor but not bad tasting. Bump up to #6. Wow, what a nice cloud! Take one more draw on #6 but it is evident that this load is entirely spent. And so was I - sound asleep within 15 minutes.
Happy Elevaping, my friends!
PS Sorry to anyone I may have pissed off recently and thanks to
@OF for chastising me for leaving my ESV in the drawer. Actually, thanks to all you FC'ers in this thread. I couldn't have done it without your input and support.
