Discontinued Elevape SV

Volute of Vapor
After some Gioogle search I found quickly the home website: http://ipuffusa.com/index.php

They sold 3 differents product, 2 vape pens (they don't seem too bad!) and the Elevape SV,
there is more explanations and they claim an instant heating time for the SV (for flowers!), if it's true it's could be a nice improvement!

Now I'm waiting for the first customers reviews to get a better opinion

Some cool innovative features...inhale activation and a computer sync program that lets you change the temp presets. Brilliant!

They should talk more about the vaping tech. It appears to be an instant coil heater like the firefly. I would want to know what the coil was made of. My biggest gripe out of the gate is the size. 3.5" x 4" x 8"? So much for portability! We talking a brick here?

sounds interesting but the design isn't very nice. the small size is, though

I kind of like the minimalist design -- it's different. And it should feel nice and solid in the hand since it's made of anodized machined aluminum. And it's a convection vape. But $325? Ouch.

edit: it's $273 with the FC code. Who wants to TOFTT?

From the powerpoint slides, it looks like they MIGHT be saying that the coil is also anodized aluminum. "constructed of anodized aluminum with ss screens"... hmm, I'm not terribly impressed with that. If it was Ti, however, I'd seriously think about it.

I like that these guys just launched their product without any bullshit fanfare, requests for donations or broken promises over pre-orders and late shipping. Firefly was the same I believe and look how that has taken off. That is a lot of money for a portable. Hopefully its good but I have purchased too many vapes recently and will almost certainly end up divorced or without testicles if I order another vaporizer at the moment.

Salutations,

Count me out, considering the price tag isn't even a garantee it won't force its owner to ventilate electronics.

Although the manufacturer's web page claims it has "Dishwasher safe sections" around the Convection Chamber i still get the impression that the lack of emphasis on such particular aspect simply suggests it may be less than perfect... Because if it were top-notch then i'd just expect that to show in a bold way through the advertizing - but the powerpoint document only reveals another "Black Box" instead.

Apparently "obvious" on top but desperately obscure down below...

IDK about the safe air path (but I hope at this pricepoint, it might be clean, but I'm agree, it's not a garantee) but the heater look like a vape pen heater (atmos, VIP) isn't it?

Do you find any user video since it's already avalaible?

I don't want to be sipping little hits with it.

I think the greater concern is combusting with it. Thats the problem every pen vape company has had trying to put out a flower vape. Its also the first thing i thought of when i read heater coil...especially after reading that the heater coils are easily user replaceable...

Thats because i dont believe it just launched. This has been available since late 2012 i believe. Their website says copyright 2012 in the corner and i did a quick search and people were asking about it on Grass city as early as August 2012

They have had an older pen vaporizer for liquids and wax since 2012. The older one is the Elevape LV/DAB and this newer one is the Elevape SV for Smart Vaporizer.

That might have been the one i saw. They are talking about the pen i guess but if you look at the link in the first post it has Elevape Smart Vaporizer in the first line

Yeah I saw that, but figured it was just a placeholder as the company rep posted further down in the thread. I'm sure they were in development at that point anyway. Maybe some beta units were out in the wild?

Hopefully a company rep will post in this thread soon and give us better information.

Here's a pic I found of what seems to be an earlier version with a sliding top instead of a magnetic bowl cover.

Salutations PPN,

...I hope at this pricepoint, it might be clean...

Not impossible but lets remember there's been deceiving cases before. :worms:

This product claims to offer "Digital Glow-Sensing Technology" in combination with a "Breath Sensor Activation System", would they have risked to ruin these features by not being careful with electronics venting?

After all it hasn't been a problem even for succesful manufacturers before...

...the heater look like a vape pen heater (atmos, VIP) isn't it?

It reminds me of the Snoop Dogg which i played with for 15 minutes a couple weeks ago. The heater-coil ribbon would be easy/convenient enough to send over snail-mail, for local replacement by the owner... The difference i see lies in auto-adjustment of power to regulate/stabilize the coil's orange glow intensity and hence temperature indirectly it seems. Anyway i'd expect combustion to be most unlikely here.

Well, at least its control software offers to provide battery charge and temperature information. This could be a stimulating implementation proving some genuinely new control concept, so i can't wait for a transposition to halogen-based devices like the Venus!!

I contacted the manufacturer and they are in the process of getting their vendor account set up here so they can post and answer questions. Here's some of how it was described to me:

"...precision machined entirely out of anodized aluminum (no flimsy plastic parts). The unit is a true convection vaporizer, it uses a titanium alloy coil as heat source, controlled by a micro processor that monitors the glow given out by the heating coil 100 times a second, and adjusts the temperature to airflow ratio during draw. The unit comes pre-programmed with 3 temperature settings but it can be fine tuned via our exclusive app that can be downloaded from our website, allowing for optimal efficiency without combustion at any moisture content . The price of the unit is a reflection of the materials and cutting edge technology that is used in the construction."

The materials and feature list is unique. The price is higher than what we are used to seeing a portable launch at, but if it does what they say it does, it should command that price. It's not yet available.

I do like the idea of having an app to tweak the temps and track the usage but I'm not too keen on having to register (nobody needs to know how much I vape, especially not the phone related companies) also I'm not too sure about the link to purchase accessories...

I'm interested in the vape though, but I wish it'd have more than 3 preset temps, I usually go from 330° to 430° in about 5 steps (depends on the mood and time).
I wonder if it has some sort of bowl or if the material goes directly on the grid, in which case some of it would get inside the vape (where you cannnot clean) a bit like the ascent...

In any case I'm looking forward to having Mr Elevape on this thread with us and hope he's a talkative rep! ;)

It seems to be more like the firefly, with a heat coil beneath the bowl for convection vaping.

Hi again PPN,

IDK about the safe air path...

As an after thought lets just post some pictures from the available documentation:

VaporNation Elevape Smart - Oven

Heated air comes from below the oven and goes through one's vegetal matter before it changes direction under the cap, on its way for the amovible mouthpiece.

294i1vo.jpg

VaporNation Elevape Smart - Feedback Loop

It seems to me radiative heat can be expected to kick in quickly, which migh lead to an interesting result.

What's not so clear is where the "fresh" air comes from, not to mention what it went through.

26.gif

More exactly, is it only a single-purpose item we can see next to the heater coil or does it have more than just 1 function? I mean, it could be nothing more than a tall lense meant to capture the orange glow, or perhaps it's actually a hollow glass tube working both as a light-guide and a source of air.

In any case i find it hard not to notice the mounting bars (with screws) have no sealed joints around them... Without complementary details this still leaves me with 2 possible main scenarios.

Last but not least, on page 8 of the .PPT document there's a plastic bag containing:

1 Silicone O-Ring
2 Mouthpiece Metal Filters
3 Donut-shaped (concentric hole) Metal Filters

Now that's a bit strange since i don't recall anything about metal filter discs that got a hole punched in the center and much less the reason why these would be needed! Any ideas?
