Question for more experienced Dynavapers.

I have a fairly new Hyperdyn (my first DV device). Very much enjoying it and just added a Wand.

My only issue is that I just discovered that one of my dearest friends (and a regular smoking buddy who has used Volcanos for the past18 years) has some strange allergy (or contact sensitivity) to titanium and he does not want to risk using the Hyperdyn. Understandable on his part. But I'm a bit bummed.

Thinking about adding a stainless steel DV (or alternative) to my kit so I can partake on the go with my friend and perhaps/probably make a gift of the new one to my friend so he has his own.

I am leaning towards getting an M 7 XL, but am open to other models (or even brands).

The one non-negotiable element is that the vape must have no titanium parts.

Any thoughts? Functionally, is the M 7 XL pretty similar to the Hyperdyn experience (albeit with a smaller load)?

Anything else I ought to consider?

Titanium sensitivity. Who knew that was a thing??? Not me.

My opinion is the M7XL is a perfect choice.

I’ll second the M7XL. I got one a while back as my first Dynavap and use it with a Wand IH. It works flawlessly every time!

Thank you both. I just picked up an M 7 XL at the historic Captain Ed's (aka Heads and Highs) shop in Reseda (Los Angeles).

Kyle, the new owner, is a great guy and he just became an authorised Dynavap dealer, so it felt good supporting local retail. I showed him my Wand and my Hyperdyn. He just got the Wands in as well, but had not cracked a package open to see for himself.

This place (Heads and Highs) was local in the neighborhood where I grew up and opened in 1967. I remember it well. The inside is still plastered with classic posters, with great gear in wood cases.

If one is in the vicinity Reseda Blvd near Sherman Way), do yourself a favor and visit Captain Ed's if you want to see what legendy smoke shop looks like. And Kyle is a good dude. It looked like this place was going to be shuttered forever, but he's brought it back and it looks great.

I hope my buddy enjoys his M 7 XL.

The only question that remains, is do I dfo a "quality control check" before handing it over? LOL

Bill

Should anyone care (and why whould you?) I decided that it was in the interest of science to try out the new M 7 XL.

Who among us is suprised? :p

So far I'm staying away from a torch (using the Wand). I'd offer an immediate impression, but I'm a little too...

Very glad you like the M7XL.

Imo the M7 model is really showing that there was still a lot of performance to be gained versus the previous M models. I really like it.

As with all new Dynavaps, I'd first clean every part, inside and out, with a cottonswap and isopropyl alcohol. With your friends titanium allergy, I'd also double check if the M7 tip has a stainless steel screen. It should. But you know .. better to verify.

Thank you for the tip on the screens. I checked and the pattern on the M7XL matches the stainless steel version. Thank god!

It was definitely worth verifying. Much appreciated!

The last thing I'd want to do is expose my dear friend to titanium. I had no idea that titanium allergies existed, much less that my buddy (who has been a solid friend for two decades) deals with it. Evidently the symptoms are rather unpleasant.

I have been trialing the M7XL, which aside from my recently purchased Hyperdyn, is the only other DV I've tried.

Thank you again for raising the possibility of a titanium screen.

I've continued to run "quality control checks" on the M7XL, just to make sure this device is "gift worthy." It is.

I think my buddy will be stoked, and if he doesn't vibe with it (fat chance, methinks) I'll happily take it back. LOL

As I've been loathe to stain the tip with a torch I've only been using a Wand to heat it and have been going for low temperature extractions (often pre-click) just as a matter of "testing." Used in this fashion I'm getting incredibly sweet hits off this thing. Superb!

It does seem slightly easier to "cook" herb accidently that my Hyperdyn, but I can also attribute that mostly to user error.

The capacity is plenty for me.

If I have a niggle, it is that the micro-abrasive finish on the stem does not feel as nice to me as the much more expensive Hyperdyn. Were I to keep this unit, I think I'd find some sort of rubbing compound to soften the handfeel of this stem.

Having an M7XL in hand does not make me regret the purchase of a Hyperdyn (at twice the price) as the fit and finish of the Hyperdyns very is nice and it feels luxurious in comparison, but small tactile issues aside, this M7XL is very capable of delivering the sort of sweet-low temp hits that I enjoy. Big fan.

There is a special edition HyperDyn available right now. Looks awesome

The vap does look awesome! The gold parts look great in particular. However the 275$ price tag makes it a tough sell for this one. Im happy for whoever can comfortably snag one of the 44 up to add to their collection. I look forward to seeing pictures of it in a few days.

So my buddy picked up his gift from me last night, the aforementioned 7M XL, that I've been running very through quality checks on ever since I picked it up.

Sorry to see it go. I liked that little baby. But it is going to a good home. I hope he vibes with it. One never knows.

In any case, I've got my Hyperdyn to keep me company.

I mentioned previously, with that M7 XL I was flavor chasing, using low temp settings on the Wand and drawing well before the click. What sweet, sweet flavor--and goodness gracious does the M7 XL work beautifully at that task. Delicious.

The couple times I over-roasted (user error) I wasn't so pleased (with myself).

Had I kept the M7 XL (or should I purchase another) I do think I'd have to buff the micro-abrasive texture they put on the handle. Yikes!

Am I the only one who has sensory issues with the tool work?

I wonder why Dynavap doesn't do bead-blasted? It would look cool, easy to maintain, and inexpensive for them. Anyway.

I don't have those sensory issues but am acutely aware of it from my kids (eg wouldn't read books based on the cover texture or had to cut all the tags out of clothes, etc)!

Was going to recommend the M+ classic, but only the standard is available and you definitely want to avoid it if you don't like the M7 texture. For a Dynavap brand stem, I think you'll have to go with one of the glass ones or the Woodwynd. Or go for an after market stem.

I think the etching is partly grip, partly anti-copying, and partly because they are fascinated with it. They also use it to affect color. I prefer the M+'s bark-like texture but the M7 grips decently. The M7's texture doesn't bother me but there have been some specials where the vape's appearance was unappealing to me because of the treatment.

Hey Bill. You did a great thing with gifting the m7xl out to your friend. Its hard to know if it will get truly appreciated, however there's a good chance your friend is gonna enjoy it and turn into a vaping nerd! Either way, you did the right thing and helped contribute a little bit of selfless positivity to the world.

I find that the super low temp hits before the click are where its at. I like to use the H2 glass stem for that kind of extraction. I watch the vapor vortex form in the glass until its solidly visible and then pause the ziH heating while hitting allowing the vapor to disappear again. Doing this over and over is one of the most efficent ways to stretch out herb I've found.

I don't have an issue with any of my vape stem textures including m7xl but I totally understand. The feel and sound of polyester give me goosebumps and makes my skin crawl.

I love the texture of the m+ the wood grain feel is so unique and its superior for gripping.I like running my thumb up and down the grain its very pleasant. Also im a science nerd so I totally believe that the increased surface area from l mimicking tree bark grain legitimately helped with thermal dissipation and stuff if by only a little. I just didn't like the square port don't like how it feels a little abrasive on my thumbs skin sometimes.

The m7xl by comparison felt very uniform with less grippage. The texturing is a little boring I dont enjoy the feel as much as m+ wood grain but it but looks great to reflect light off of. It definitely helped with the rosium variant, the way the rosium m7xl shimmers gold and changes color as light bounces it off angles is just so visually appealing. I wonder if other rosiums also do this to some extent? Oh and I like the m7 airport much better.

If your sensitive to texture the best bet is to get smooth polished devices I would think. You can get a a smooth finish m+ or an older 2021 m something without all that texturing and just throw a xl tip and condenser in there.

In some ways, my buddie is one of the original vaping nerds. He got his first Volcano about 15 years ago, and currently has a Volcano Hybrid.

He's just never had a portable dry vape. I'm actually surprised just how little dry vapes have penetrated the scene (as I know it) here in LA.

As to texture issues with the M7 XL. They likely wouldn't bother anyone who has done an honest day's labor, but I'd be looking into my de-polishing options to be sure.

Via significant "testing" I did manage to significant mitigate the "sharpness" of stem (as the stem, in turn, exfoliated the pads of my fingertips. Ooh, soft! LOL

I actually don't generally have "sensory issues" (although old-school polyester was also something I could/would not wear.

For stealthy cool aesthetics, I'd prefer a matte bead-blasted finish over polished myself. I steer away from blingy. I have to imagine a blasted finish would be a huge cost-savings over polishing.

These are actually the only two (2) VapCap devices that I've used myself, and I don't think I've ever seen someone using one in"the wild," even at parties with Burning Man refugees and what not.

I wonder if there are regional pockets where these are not rare?

Has anyone here tried the B model (the budget version) DynaVap? Curious if those would be gift worthy?

I think the B is gift-worthy, but I think it sort of inevitably leads to an upgrade for most people. If they like the B, they will eventually want a full bowl. I would say, give a B to someone who microdoses or who you can't be sure will like it. If it's for someone who you think will like it, gift them an M so they don't have to upgrade.

This is the answer I hoped for. A nice, relatively inexpensive, little vape that someone likes so much they might want to upgrade (or just use the hell out of the B).

I will likely purchase one for testing purposes.
