How in the world are you able to heat the cap for 40-50 seconds with a torch?

@rokko s poor cap may be taking a beating...

Even a slow roast with a bic lighter only takes 30 seconds, single jet 15 and quad 4 seconds with my lighters, as determined by timing it with a second hand. It may be that 40-50 seconds is a perceived rather than actual span of time.

@rokko, try heating your cap as others have mentioned; use a small jet lighter, not a kitchen torch, adjust your flame as low as possible without it sputtering and rotate the cap smoothly.

The rotation can be done by moving the cap back and forth over your fingertips with your thumb.

Or

By nestling the mp in your palm and using your thumb and fore finger to twirl it in one continuous direction.

Or

By holding the VC steady as you rotate your wrist back and forth.

Or

By rolling the VC along a counter with the cap over the edge.

Practise some of these moves to find which one works for you. Soon you will be twirling like a pro!

@beyond6strings sry, can't make video, but I measured with timer few times and got 2 clicks at around 30 sec when heating mid and 40 sec when heating bot, it was earlier when I rotated VapCap fast back and forth. Later I changed method to rotating slower in one way + squeezed cap to get more tight fit (it resulted in louder clicks) and after some time got couple combusted hits. Today I tried with smaller flame and a bit faster rotation, looks like it works ok, also heat time of mid/bot is around 20/35 seconds now.

@Squiby I use Honest single torch like this one

Adjusting flame length from 3 to 2 cm and spinning a bit faster helped.

It has to be a bad cap. Using my weakest single flame torch takes about 10-12 secs on a SS tip.

Yes, that Zico single flame pictured above takes about 8 seconds to heat low on the cap to first click. The inner blue flame is set at about 1.5 cm, and only the ghost outer flame touches the cap. It sounds like you got a bad one, @rokko. Dynavap will make it right, I am confident; in the meantime you could try tapping the sides of the cap, while it’s seated on the tip, against a hard surface to see if maybe the disks are hung up in some way and can be shaken loose

Hello all, first post


I bought my first Dynavap (M) this week and love it but have read that its better with a Ti tip and also the XLS upgrade. I can get a Ti tip, XLS condenser and spinning Ti mouthpiece for around £75 or just jump straight to an Omni XL for £160.

I'm leaning towards the Omni as I can just switch tips with the M and then have two vapes to too choose from/a cheap one for going out, or is there not much difference between the two

My first was an Omni, and I love it, but I spend more time with my Ms. You have a very fine vape there, and immediately swapping your tip out for Ti will NOT immediately improve your experience. One is not better than the other, they are different. Like the old soul song, “take time to know her” as she is before you gowondering about something else.

Wait ‘til Thanksgiving to decide how you want to jump: you may’ve decided by then to get a nonavong body (fits a 14mm female joint to perfection), or to play with a stem extension. Enjoy the autumn and let your M be a friend to you. You’ll be glad you did.

@mehr yes listen to this nugget of advice, and Welcome aboard, I find myself reaching for the SS/water tools more often at home than the Ti, however when out and about its always the Ti, there is an occasion for every piece, get to know the M learn how to finesse it

But the Omni, the Omni is up a couple of levels - the way she dress, she like to play around, she beautiful man, she keeps herself looking good.

@MaalboroMan thanks, gonna try smaller flame and faster spinning. First time I tried to spin it forward and backward when heating, but I couldn't make full turn without fear to drop it especially when already high, so I started to spin it one side and not fast (as recommended George in one of his videos).

I'm down with meditation dude! I've got three apps on my phone - the one with the pally English bloke, the one with the seductive Canadian cougar and the flakey little British husband & wife team (single purchase, they're trying to cash in on subscriptions now) so yes, I Am There when I take an enormous rip out of my Sandblasted M without the condenser, all I'm saying is that the Omni of your choosing is a thing of beauty which will last forever while the M is also a thing of beauty except not so much....
EDIT : All of what I'm saying is on the understanding that the person has money to spend. Otherwise the M, is fine fine. Some people never get a feel for Vapcaps, some try but fail but a little patience pays off and most of us here are fanatics. Right?

I finally found my file so that I could properly modify the M tips I use in Water Wands, as well as my '18 XL M. And then I added an O-ring to the XL M and my Carbon Fiber Ti XLS to render the air inlet permanently closed and my Vapcap water arsenal is complete.

BTW, I've modded the CF, Omni XL, and M XL with mini Fat Mouthpieces. I used scissors to cut off about 3/8" off the end of the mouthpiece and push it down centered on the line where stem and Ti mouthpieces meet. It provides a perfect seal into any of my 14mm pieces.

They'll now join the rotation with the Water Wands, and I can enjoy all my vapcaps through water.

I'm going to be sending my Wood Vongs to a friend of mine who has a better climate for wooden devices.

@cybrguy thanks a lot for video. I'm doing same way last couple weeks, but sometimes it's not so easy because of friction between M's mouthpiece and ring finger (that's why in case of upgrade I want spinning mouthpiece instead of omni, also like to use carb hole different ways depending on temp and amount of herb).

I have the spinning MP to make my Vong stem longer Last time I put it back together I put some dynawax on the O-ring and MP to allow it to spin more freely, but here's the thing - I don't actually grip the MP area but make a loose cage with my little and ring fingers to loosely contain that end of the VC. The grip is where I spin the VC with my thumb and index fingers and as I release the VC to reposition them to start another rotation, the VC simply rests in my index finger. I see how I could grip the MP and allow the rest to spin, but don't see the need to do so.

But wait! Of course I was experimenting as I typed this and NOW I see that if I do grip the MP while spinning I get almost 1-3/4 rotations with two spins. Using the method I have always used, I get between 1 and 1-1/4 rotations with 2 spins. Hmmmm

Sure here are a couple of pics, love to share my self made things for the vapcap have also made a self made vapcap stand from leather.

It is not as good as your craft compared but i have made this without any tools except of sandpaper and a stanley knife it does not look bad for that.

You can see that i have used the vapcap m stash that i have a little bit cut off, for the herb compartment. The material is micro cork is very heat resistend and very light also no water goes in the cork ist like a lotus effect on the surface

To made it i have used 2 layers of 10 mm thick cork plate and have put together with wood nails, on the first picture you can see this well these brighter points on the edge in the middle and at the bottom. Have also a 2 magnets attached to the lid and stash so they not turn so easy open.

Got a F2F (10-14mm) converter, and WALLA! you get to play with some “new” toys.
