Which pocketable? As a minimalist, most of my EDC has to be pocketable.

These are NOT pocketable, however.

(Well, actually they are. But I get too many interested looks)

HR? Meaning Healthy Rips? Aquamizer vape pen bubbler?
Weirdly enough I already had one of those. Believe it or not that was my first foray into vaping. It came with a titanium straw tip that you torch as part of a nectar collector. Awesome to hear it interacts favorably with the vapcaps!

“Now I will relax and use my damascus steele stem till it rusts in my hands.”

-possibly most amazing quote this week, here in the dynathread.

@beyond6strings We should have a thread to share FCers' made music! Or even VapCapers' only?

Some nice surprises awaiting from folks around the world for sure?

Just out of curiosity: How many musicians around here?
let's start the count at 2!

Not a professional musician, but I do a bit, especially simple scores for my own films. I want to get back to just straight music a bit too though and finish something worth sharing. :)

I’m working on guitar, have some experience with keys, but do a lot of what I do on computers.

I'm waiting for a VC band and an album. Mike Bonfield & the Vapcappers, and an album named 'Travellers in the Dynaverse'.

Edit: Ken Bonfield!!!! Sleep deprivation and names.... Thanks @stark1

“Candlelight, music from Ken Bonfield, a sleeping baby on my chest, and a VC that's waiting for me when the little one goes to bed. Have a nice evening.”

Hello, Amster damn! Mike’s got a brudder? A twin, in the multiverse.

 & my guitar gently weeps....

 Strictly amateur level...at home or with friends. I mainly play acoustic guitar and bansuri (Indian bamboo flute). Also a bit of harmonica, melodica, and recently ventured into analogue synths (yup, Instrument/Gear Acquisition Syndrome). Would love to share my music on FC, once I've a few recordings I can be proud of. @beyond6strings has set the bar pretty high...

On a related note, a friend to whom I showed my new vapcap aptly compared it to playing and learning an instrument (I think he was trying to regulate through the carb). Needless to say, I loved that analogy :) I'm sure this is also true for other manual/butane/unregulated vapes.

I don’t gig anymore, but have been in a couple bands. I played guitar and sang. Still break it out once in a blue moon. And I get dragged into drunken karaoke once or twice a year. Lol.

I’m a drummer, mostly West African rhythms.
Enjoying bullet coffee and blue dream CBD in my cocobolo vong + hummingbird bubbler. Had a visit from a hummingbird earlier this morning, all is well

PS, DAS (drum acquisition, etc) was my precursor to VCAS

How does the vibrations of drums deep into the night figure in string theory? We do indeed live in a multidimensional multiverse.

In my case, I have WTAS, wet as can be, behind me ears.

I’m not a physicist, lol. It’s my name from a knitters’ website. Couldn’t think of a catchy one when I first came here... I suspect you’re right, though, that there is a deep connection between vibrations and the fundamental structure of the multiverses. “In the beginning was the word...”. Also, Hindus consider “om” the foundational sound from which all else emerged. So, who knows?

On a more thread-related note, drumming is another excellent way to breach the bounds of ordinary consciousness, especially some of the trance-inducing traditional rhythms. Drumming plus vapcap = pure joy

I played drums in a band 30 years ago for about ten years.

I have a piano that I plunk about on a couple times a week. I can play three songs reasonably well and several others terribly.

Lately I have been learning to play guitar. Fingerpicking. The guitar is the most painful instrument I've ever played. I'm loving it but my tender little finger pads are taking a beating. I hope thicker calluses develop soon.

I live in a musical community. Our get togethers always include random instruments being played as the rest of us sing and dance. I have some awesome moves... :buzz:

Skin flutes, anyone? :bang:

“The skin flute is a musical instrument of the woodwind family. Unlike other woodwind instruments, a flute is a reedless wind instrument that produces its sound from the flow of air against an edge called "blowing". The size and shape of a skin flute is both wide spread and varied, from the 3 1/2" "Pee Wee" through to the related hybrid Pink Oboesome of which have been known to top 14 inches, with substantial girth ...

I was quite sure when I first arrived here on FC last fall that there were a lot of musicos here.

It's not surprising at all. And there is no bar set. Music is music, it doesn't have to be virtuosic to have worth, Dylan helped change the world with three chords and a shitty voice (he is a great singer IMO).

I would love to hear more original music from my VC friends. I live for shit like that.

Nice! What kind of music did the band you drummed for play?

A few years ago some of my old band mates were thinking of forming a new Rock and Roll band. They asked me if I wanted to be their drummer. I dug out some old sticks and had at it. My wrists weren't what they used to be. I was shocked at how hard it was and how pathetic my rudiments were. I hadn't played in 30 years and it sure showed.

I respectfully declined the offer. I think it would have taken me 6 months or more of constant practise to get back into shape.

Use it or lose it and I definitely lost it.

Yep, same with brass instruments and one's embouchure! :myday:

@Squiby it is my greatest fear. I just got the last song for my album 'in the can' last Thursday and in order to fully recover I've cased my guitars until at least this fall, if not winter. And I'm scared shitless at how much I'm going to lose. I know if I take a full week off it takes a full week to 'get it back'. It's not a linear equation after the first month, but I know I'll have lots of work in front of me after just months of not playing-I can't imagine being able to come back to it after 30 years.

Regarding calluses. They are the way the body protects your finger tips, but only after it's convinced you're not going to stop on your own. So once it starts hurting, play a few more minutes. Don't get blisters, but when you play past the point of pain your body releases a chemical to callus the tip. This is much harder to do in the summer with high humidity. Even though I've been playing about 10 hours a week (less than half of normal) my tips are pretty smooth right now, not really rough callus. Luckily there's enough pad built up over 44 years of playing that it's not an issue.

And if you ever want help on the fingerpicking front hit me up, I'd love to connect over FaceTime or Skype. But also understand this is a place most of us have chosen to be anonymous.

Where has the time gone?
I've had mine for nearly a week now I still think it's great but I'm getting torch fatigue.
I can see that the vapcap is a great thing for using out and about or for quick tokes during the day but I'm an evening session sort of person and all this blazing is getting a bit much.
Yes I need the induction heater!

If you vape mostly inside you might enjoy a small nicely designed lamp using liquid paraffin.

omni_800_fs.jpg

I am quite certain you will be pleased with the result, a little liquid paraffin goes a very long way and is quite cheap. And you get the added value of a cool and restful ambiance for the evening.

As well as a great start for a weekend like... now! Everybody have an enjoyable one. :)
