I don’t think so.Can level 4 not be boosted? It seems like that would get us a fifth level.

I don’t think so.
Actually, I’ve had some of the ‘fiddling’ and ‘charring’ issues too.
Correct. You do not need to hold the button down more than 1-2 seconds to effectuate the next boost level (15F increments).
I was under a different impression based on the instruction manual for the DotLeaf. I could very well be wrong as the verbiage could be construed either way. Here is what the manual says though...
"During the session, press and hold the fire button for a 15*C boost to your set temperature."
When I actually do that, it vibrates indicating the boost, however if I let it go, the vapor diminishes again while I draw, indicating that the boost was only active while the button was held. Like I said, I could be wrong, but from my own experience, the button has to remain being held down to accomplish a temp boost. I would love to hear from anyone else as well to see their findings, as the verbiage can be taken either way.
If you have one, and can do some testing, I would love to see someone else's DL on boost. Mine is one of the early release models since I got it back in October, so maybe it's different?
Maybe you’re right. Let’s check the heat indicator (how many quarters of circle are lit) after using the boost both with and without holding down the power button after the boost haptic vibration..???I was under a different impression based on the instruction manual for the DotLeaf. Wow thanks kineticsam! Khalek41girl was correct! Ty both! They confirmed to me on Instagram that the boost is only applied while the button is held down.
Not to me. I haven't had a pax but I remember my old alfa reeked while in use and after, and it was also conduction. I guess with the oven buried in the device, it mitigates smell. Maybe it cools the oven faster. Is the device smelly after use? I know it’s subjective and seems like a silly question, but my Pax3 absolutely stinks after use and it makes me paranoid in public.
Alternatively, is the included case smell-proof/air-tight?
Thanks for the link! Another place to tempt me with accessories.I am following this with interest and can see my self buying a v2 for water.
Love my DotAios, I use 3fVape and FastTech for accessories.

Incredibly helpful, thanks Khelek41girl!!Almost sounds like an issue with the internals in the device not recognizing when the oven gets to temp, so it keeps heating up until there is a failure. I could be wrong since I don't work with electronics, but its the only thing I can think of. I have had several people reach out to me asking what's going on. All I can say is to reach out and try to get things replaced...be it the oven or the device itself. They have great customer service, and all this feedback they are getting will be indicative of an ongoing issue that they will need to take care of...and they will. They have a great reputation in the ecig industry, so they will iron things out. I'm sorry everyone is having this issue. I had it too, but it seems to have resolved itself at least for me.
Things to try:
If the device continues to malfunction and combust bowls, first things first, remove the battery and wait 10-20 seconds before putting it back in.
Drop entire oven, except maybe the lid, in ISO and give it a good 10-15 minute soak. Then rinse off with hot water and let dry completely. (I have not heard of any official cleaning instructions from DotLeaf, but I have done this to mine, and everything seems to be fine.)
With the battery removed, depress the bottom tank contact on the vape repeatedly, and work it a bit so that it is not applying so much pressure to the tank. It could be that the spring is too stiff, causing a miss reading in temp when the plastic cracks, ultimately changing the resistance of the coil and affecting performance
With the tank removed, set the power level back to one, insert the tank giving it a fresh resistance reading, and try a warm up cycle.
If none of these things work, I would most definitely contact DotLeaf and request a replacement device sooner rather than later. I don't know what their replacement policy is, but I would assume/hope that they at least cover the performance of the device itself for at least the first year. I'm sorry so many people are having issues. I know we all bought into this not entirely knowing it was a soft launch, but lets try and help them, succeed rather than rip them a new one or give up on them entirely. This really is a great device with lots of potential. Let's do our part as responsible users, and help them identify the issue at hand so that they can take the steps needed to correct it.
My advice to those who haven't purchased one yet but wants to...
It might be worth holding off until known issues are resolved, unless you want to be part of the solution.
Have a great morning everyone!
Also incredibly helpful—thanks Vapen00b!Hey guys,
ordered a unit a few days ago and explicitly asked for the latest version with revised parts of gaskets and tank. I was reassured on IG that I would receive the newest version. Just unpacked it today after receiving and was a bit irritated that mine has the small stubby mouthpiece. Recent versions have a bit taller one. And, indeed, I got #007x...one of the first units ever made. The oring beneath the tank looks terrible. I contacted them right away via IG and hope to hear back soon.
My unit was shipped from France and I bought directly from them to be sure, I‘d get the latest iteration with updated parts. FWIW our pal @Unklmark68 was so kind to let me know his # - he only ordered few days ago. It’s in the 1xxx range.
But what is much worse is hearing about all kinds of oven issues... Defective chambers and even smoke on setting one.
For everyone on the fence, I can only recommend to be patient and wait how things pan out.
If you’re ordering from the EU, you won’t receive the latest updated version.
Sad to report this for now as it looks like a promising little contender. Will wait for their answer (I contacted them before via email and never got a reply, hopefully this time) and keep you guys posted!

Mine came today, some quick impressions. Just used it after a brief t break, so apologies for any incoherence in the my musings.
First of all, damn this is a nice feeling lil machine. Super solid vibes. Also just had a brief round messing with the temps between 1-3 with the two different mouth piece from the images, both super nice (the pipe thing sounds like a bloody dog whistle though). Flavour is also super nice, good cloud production despite material I had ground a few weeks ago. Fiendishly potent. Definitely a bit harsher on higher temps even with the mouthpieces, and definitely a lil handwarmer. Both not unpleasant though, feels true convection. Slight clicking noise on the warm-up on the step to 3, that may be the oven-cracking temp ha. So far so good though, survived the first round unscathed. Also the o-ring situation definitely gives it a slightly paranoid feel when putting the chamber in, but that may be just my anticipation of issues there. Not sure what version I got, I ordered through them, but it was shipped within Europe, so we'll find out... whitish gasket on the inside of the tank, is there any consensus on what version that is yet?
But generally yeah, it's cool. Totally not unhappy about my decision to go for it, I ordered before o-ring-gate but before cracking-oven-gate, so I anticipated some risk with early adoption, but went for the 10% discount. Also generally this thread reads like pretty good CS so far, so I feel reasonably relaxed about that. So far definitely gets my recommendation, it's a nifty device.
