Just this:
As I said, while there are no ISO, ASE, or other standards body reference on hot runner coil pin outs and connector type, there is a definite defacto standard which the manf we were discussing were aware of when they made their decision to differ from that. To me, there is a definite defacto standard out there.

The High 5 LCD #1 @ $210 CAD (ie. $160CAD after you subtract the coil), that's pretty much the cost of the parts + shipping if you were to order them from dhgate/ebay/aliexpress.
ie.
- Omron E5CC - $75
- Switch + outlet + fuse socket - $15
- XLR socket - $10
- USB 120v to 5V module - $10
- Aluminum enclosure - $10
- Relay - $10
So that's $130 ... these are just ballpark figures of course and don't include things like wire of course ... in actuality I'm sure it would work out to a bit more as you'd have to get most of the parts from different locations or pay much more than I have listed there.
In other words, even as a DIY I don't think you are going to do it for much cheaper than the High5 LCD #1 ... I'm sure they are of course getting parts much cheaper, but if building a single unit, you might find it actually more cost/time effective if you want a standard XLR to just swap out the XLR socket on a High5 LCD #1 rather than building the whole thing from scratch
I'm not saying that it's great that High5 has the proprietary pin-out ... however, at least the connector is standard, and at least they offer adapter cables (they can't really change their pinout now, as it's too late, since that would be bad for their existing customer base)

I really like mine, you need to be more careful using it if you don't want any going off the sapphire. For me it sticks on there pretty well and I don't mind if some falls off and into the sic halo. The thing I don't want is any going into the center post, that's what I try to avoid. It definitely vapes off the sapphire, especially once it get's up to temp.
I don't think $50 is too bad for it. I don't use it all the time, more to taste new stuff I get. It makes me want a sapphire halo, but not at the prices right now. I like sapphire more, but I don't think it's a massive improvement. Not like sic was for me. Of course I may change my mind if I ever try a sapphire halo.

Well I got D-nail's main phone number for all inquiries off the website and decided to give them a call. I wanted to ask when they anticipate getting new stock in on halos. The number rang, then it picks up and then hangs up on you. No answering machine, message or anything, just hangs up.
Is that a bad sign? Well, it certainly ain't a good sign.

Via DM on Instagram Dnail guy said this month was suppose to be the restocking of the sapphire halo dishes. Hoping it is as really want to try a sapphire. The sic dish has been unreal as far as effectiveness and ease of use in cleaning. My E Ross quartz e.nail set stays disconnected.

I'm down to between a SiC halo and a SiC flat coil nail from NewVape. I just don't know what you get with the halo that that you don't get with the NewVape nail. It is more than twice the price for a SiC or quartz nail. A Dnail slim body base plus SiC halo is somewhere between $110-$150 based on if items are on sale or not, versus the NewVape nail which is $50 with no sale. They seem pretty close in design, I wonder what makes the Dnail worth the extra cost?

Only improvement I (and everyone else should) care about is if they remove the middle hole, which is, IMO and IME the #1 weak spot....but thats not possible with keeping the Halos design.

I'd be happy with a design tweak to the retaining nut, with the "ledges" it attracts too much oil IMO. I think someone on reddit dremmel'd the top part off or something..

Hello all! I recently ordered a Dnail Halo setup. I noticed one of my bases that came with it were slightly warped(Most likely due to overzealous torch cleaning on my part). I ordered another one around July 11 and sort of forgot about it. I haven't received anything from the company via email in that time and my order is still listed as processing. Anyone else have this problem? I'm planning to give them a call whenever my schedule lightens today or tomorrow to get
to the bottom of this.

I was shopping high (don't) and decided to get a new bubbler. Too stoned to check frivolous things like joint size and height I ended up with a pretty small piece. For now I switched out my D020 for this and I'm enjoying it. I don't really taste a difference, though with my 10 or so bubblers I've tried I don't think I ever have. The draw is a little easier and I like the handle on the front so I'm going to give it a shot for awhile and see how I like it. I was using it without the drop down, but with 14mm it sticks out more and it popping out seemed much easier.

New rig day. Finally got a chinese egg, we got 5 of these yesterday..I work at a smoke shop and couldn't stop admiring these lol. I tested all of them for airflow and this was the best pulling, one was really bad...they all have a micro matrix perc and functions great. We have had different eggs but none on the smaller side like this. Even though the perc is off center it still hit the best, one felt like a banger was attached.
Torch Sic nail is still alive after a year as my main nail. Stays keep with the wet qtip method. Have torch cleaned it a few times but that's it. The small cracks in the ceramic base have not grown since I used that super hot torch with back to back heat ups last summer.. bed bath torch works best.
No news ... still waiting for my retaining lug@JCat any word from D-nail on our 14mm bases?
Things are definitely not sounding right at D-nail... but they are promising Sapphire halos?
After following up a # of times to get my tracking #, they sent another one and sent me a tracking #. So might finally be up and running by next week after > a month ... still waiting for our slim bases ... they’ve lost a bundle on this purchase from me at this point ... I don’t see how it could be otherwise with 4 shipments instead of 1 and some being express (maybe all?)
Super nice guys when I talked to them on the phone ... but I sure hope they can get their shit together
Anyways ... seems like they are taking care of me at their loss ... not super impressed at all the waiting, or really poor communication and poor follow through ... however, none of us are perfect, and their willingness to make it right and to admit they’re in the wrong makes it hard to be upset

I can dial it in pretty good, if I don't wanna wait for cool down it's about 30 seconds of torch, 5-7 second cool down. I usually torch for a minute plus and wait 20 seconds.
