Another couple of questions from the Canuck . . .
First some background:
The only vape I've ever owned is the Pax. I've had it since September, 2012. It converted me to vaping for sure, as I have not combusted since I owned it. I chose it above others because my #1 priority is stealth. For me, my vape has to be small (pocketable) and discreet.
My biggest gripes about the Pax are the high maintenance factor, and the low efficiency. This thing requires a lot of cleaning to keep it going, and the cleaning isn't terribly easy either, as you can't really get down into the outside of the vapor tube, where all the gunk tends to collect. There's also the mouthpiece lube. Oy.
On the other hand, it totally satisfies my need for stealth, and I've found it to be very reliable, as long as I keep the up the required cleanings. Ease of use is another strength that I appreciate.
It also seems to use more flowers than it should. This hasn't been a deal breaker for me, since I'm a pretty light user. I typically only have one session in a day, and only 2-3 sessions per week, and a single session (for me) only constitutes 2-3 hits. My use is a little heavier if I'm on holidays or something, but I can't remember the last time I had more than 3 sessions in a day.
So, I've been on the lookout for a replacement for the Pax that matches it in terms of stealth, and size, but requires less maintenance, and is more efficient. I also want something with high build-quality, that is reliable and easy to use.
I think I may have found the answer in the Crafty. I'm an iPhone user, so the use of the app for changing the settings is not an issue for me. The only other drawback seems to be battery life, but that is a non-issue for me as well, as I am already accustomed to charging my Pax every 2-3 sessions. The way I use it, I can't imagine ever being stuck in a position where I would kill the battery of the Crafty before having a chance to charge it.
I've read this whole thread over the last couple of days, and am getting pretty serious about purchasing a Crafty.
The maintenance of this vape has been covered very well.
I haven't seen very many direct comparisons of the Pax and the Crafty. So, for anyone out there who has owned both, I would very much like to hear your comparison of the two. I'm interested in all observations you may have, but I am particularly interested in a comparison of the Crafty's efficiency as compared to that of the Pax. Does it get you just as high, just as often, while using up less of your stash than the Pax does?
Thanks!
Droog,
The Crafty outperforms the PAX in pretty much all aspects. Vapor quality, vapor density, precise heat settings, ease of cleaning, and efficiency. While the Crafty is not quite as portable, it's still pretty small and will give you what you're looking for. There's less draw resistance on the Crafty, so taking longer draws is easier than with the PAX.
The PAX is great, but if you're looking for the latest and greatest, go with the Crafty.
