I would like to see a citation for that statement, especially since it's off topic. By the way, the quoted statement is logically false, because the Volcano has also been submitted to the same test lab as the Volcano, or in other words the Volcano is a vaporizer, too. The Minivap could be the only OTHER vaporizer to have been submitted, perhaps, but lacking a link to the study the statement smells fishy to me.

Wow, gone for a day and all he1l breaks loose :)
In response to a statement here that the Volcano was the only vape to pass such quality tests, I passed on info that the miniVAP also went thru the same testing as the Volcano AND asked if the Mighty/Crafty have gone thru the test or will they go thru this same testing----seemed on topic to me. The Mighty and Crafty are more plastic in the build so wondered if they will be tested.

Bill D dissected the statement and found it logically false...
The miniVAP is the only vaporizer to have been submitted to the same test lab .....at Leiden University in the Netherlands for performance analysis..... as the Volcano.
Bolded and separated for emphasis but seems ok to me. Note, I am not an English major :)

Here's a cite for info on the study. I didn't think we needed to get that technical.
Caution/warning !!!! If you read this article, they are blasphemous in their subjective comparison
of the miniVAP and Volcano that..... in terms of flavor and smoothness the miniVAP wins.

I am NOT a Volcano hater. It's a great piece. This all just started with a minor correction/ addition to let folks know that another vape has passed the strict quality of materials and quality of air pathway tests....period.

Over and out

Maybe people should use their vaporizers instead of fighting about them. Remember: Vapes are only tools to deliver what each and everyone of us loves:leaf:

To the new owners: A few pages back when I got my Crafty the new/plastic taste was annoying me as well but it has disappeared after a few uses. So don't worry! :)

In the beginning I didn't get these huge clouds everyone is talking about. This has improved a lot too. It gets better every time. I don't know if it's the new material, packing technique or lighting but I'm really impressed

The only thing I don't like is that I burn through my herb much more quickly. I always want to fill it up completely or vape a second bowl. My tolerance has gone up and I live in a state where you don't get the quality or quantity for your money when buying herb, at least I don't have access to it.
But that's not the Craftys fault and I'm already on a t-break but I'm not sure if can hold out much longer :haw:

EDIT: Did anyone try to harvest the oil buildup in the cooling unit yet? Should I put it in the freezer and scrape it off? Or just boil the whole cooling unit in milk?

I noticed this as well. Its the cooling units. When they are clean, they really zap your vapors until they get a working coat of oil built up on them. This improves taste as well as function.

Bad news people. Updated my tablet to android 5.0 still doesn't connect. The good news is that my friends 4.4.2 phone still connected fine, so my crafty is working just fine. Means we are going to need either an app update, or a fix from google.

Did you tell S&B?

I did. But it also broke the ability to connect to the OBD-II reader in my car (also BT). So Idk if it has to be a fix from google or what.

It certainly wouldn't hurt to have a few others report it if you have any nexus devices (they all got 5.0 today).

Light a fire under their ass to fix it if they can.

Damn I still haven't got the update. It probably doesn't work with 5.0 because the switch from dalvik to art (i don't know what this means but you could make the switch in previious android versions and it would cause some apps to not work)

That's weird that people have been getting fewer clouds with a just-cleaned cooling unit. I'm getting the exact opposite: monster clouds, but I have to clean every few days or the efficiency goes down.

Probably no one cares but I do: just ordered and hope its here for the weekend :)

Wanted to get one right away when this thread started, but those were too busy times to give my best attention to it. Now life's back to normal + I got a shitload of the finest herbs, now I can't wait

Hi guys, long time lurker here.

I'm really interested in owning the Crafty but I still have one concern : the battery.

Here's my story : I own a Vaporstar that introduced me to vaporization years ago. I finally got bored and bought a Plenty 7 months ago. I really love the Plenty, that little bastard made me quit smoking although I didn't even wanted to ! But I travel a lot and I also need a portable vape. S&B convinced me with the Plenty me so it will be the Crafty or the Mighty.

I like the Crafty better because of its small size but the battery seems to be a problem : I only medicate in the evening, most of the time two bowls (0.25), sometimes three but I'm doing long sessions compared to most of you, like 15-20 minutes. I read that the Crafty can only last 45 minutes wich means only two sessions for me, hardly three. Plus, I'm afraid that with time the battery won't be as efficient and I'll find myself in a situation where I have to plug it after only one session !

So my question is, do you think the Crafty battery is good enough for my use or do I have to go for a Mighty ?

Anyway, thank to all reviewers, it's very helpful for lurkers like us ;-p

PS : Sorry for my english, I'm from a non-english speaking country.

I charge my crafty with my power bank in between sessions, but I'm not a heavy vaper, but I haven't had to recharge my power bank once in the last few days.

If you don't need portability, small size or discretion, then get the mighty.
If you value these things, then go crafty.

I can only assume the mighty would have a better long term battery life as it would not need as many battery cycles for the same amount of use (theoretically you are halving the amount of cycles you are subjecting the batteries to, because it is double the battery life).

I'd say the Crafty because you can get a power bank for less than $20 on amazon. Even if you bought 2 power banks you'd still be spending less money than you would on the Mighty. And you'd have the battery power of the Mighty when you want it and the still have the size of the Crafty that you want.
For anyone choosing between the Crafty & Mighty I'd say If you have to think about it, then go with the Crafty. You can work around the battery life, especially with it using a standard Micro-USB, but you can't work around the size of the Mighty. You just have to live with it. Unless you're fine with that, go for the Crafty.

The MiniVap hasn't been used in a study like the Volcano was, therefore there will be no study you can cite. This is a manufacturer's claim related by a third party and people are free to believe it or not. @Bill Densoyle's insistence that someone had to provide a link to a study is a red herring on an inconsequential point as far as the Crafty is concerned, and this thread is about the Crafty. Bill Densoyle got suspended not for that, however; it was his belligerent responses and insistence on arguing about a moderator decision in the thread.

Enough has been said on this issue. Please return to your regularly scheduled topic.

deuzax: In all practicality, 9 times out of 10 I would recommend the Mighty when battery life is a concern, but in your case (only vaping in the evening) the Crafty should work just fine. As others have mentioned, you will likely want to pick up a power bank, or at least an extra-long USB cord, but with your usage, you might not even need that. I would find it highly unusual if the Crafty couldn't even last you three sessions.

EDIT: Is the Mighty really that big? I haven't seen one in person, but from pictures and videos it doesn't seem THAT big. From comments here and on the Mighty thread it sounds like the thing is actually enormous.

Compared to a Crafty (which is about the size of the Ascent & what I would consider the perfect size for a portable) it is enormous. But it looks like a nice size for a cordless home vape that you can bring to a friend's house or travel with, but it's just not for on-the-go or discreet usage. If I have a home vape then I want my portable vape to be as portable as possible without scarficing performance. It depends on the person. Like I said earlier, you can work around the battery issue but you just have to live with that size. If you don't mind that and just don't want to deal with a power bank, then by all means get the Mighty.

so can someone who has tried both of them confirm that vapor quality & bowl life are identical or almost there? because I keep hearing about only the size and the function of that size being the difference between the two.

Storz & Bickel claimed the performance is identical, the Vape Critic and other reviewers have confirmed that. And I believe some users on here have done so as well.

Unlikely because the app still runs. Its almost certainly BT stack related which sucks.
