Has anyone been able to use the Crafty with the Lollipop on android phones? Or is it just because of the firmware on the Crafty itself?

I'm assuming you have an older 2.04v firmware Crafty? If so, the old firmware will not connect to an Android 5+ OS.

You have two options at this point.

1) Send it back to S&B and they will update you to the new version firmware Crafty that can connect to Android 5.

2) Download the 3rd party app "Vaporizer Control Center" by our friend here, @ligi. I also have a 2.04 Crafty and ran into this same issue a few weeks ago. I didn't want to send my Crafty into S&B yet, so downloaded this app. It allows me to connect, see the temps, change the temps, and it has a precise battery level as opposed to a 6 bar system.

So at this point, I plan to just keep running my Crafty with the VCC app until I run into a problem.



If you don't have a 2.04 firmware Crafty, then I'm not sure what your problem is.

Hello guys, I found this interesting forum about the wonderful crafty that I got since about 6months now, but yesterday I tried to connect the crafty to my new IPhone 4 app but it's not allow me to save the serial number ( can't press on save button)... I don't know what to do because it was working perfectly with my old IPhone 4s... Please guys help me, what should I do ?! thanks for your help !!

nobody has made a web app for the crafty yet? everyones computer has had bluetooth 4.0 for like a million years and if you don't, well you shouldn't have a crafty if you can't afford to spend another $5 on a usb bluetooth adapter if your computer and phone cant do it!

I'm in the same boat with an older 2.04 firmware. VCC doesn't work with Lollipop or Marshmallow for me, so I just use my iPad to adjust temps if I need to.

Got the Easyflow water tool adapter for my Crafty today. Nice piece, just running it through my Hydrotube, can take massive hits now setting this beast to 200C

5.01 is Lollipop. My phone with Lollipop is on 5.1. Maybe 5.01 didn't break the connectivity? Or maybe it's a BT chipset difference on the phones or even on the Crafty?

Hmm, that's too bad. Maybe @ligi can offer some insight? I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S4 if that makes any difference. My Crafty's SN is in the 500's, so it's a very old one.

If not, looks like you might have to send it in to S&B to get an updated Crafty. I'm just holding onto mine as long as possible since this one's been rock solid.

Yep. Every day -- but with 2.07 and 2.08 firmware.

I've heard rumor's that @ligi 's app in the market works with older firmwares on Lollipop, but cannot confirm. Maybe he can?

I've read most of this thread but still have a basic question. 99% of my vaping is done with my Volcano at home, but a handful of times each year I take a trip and need a portable; and even on those nights my use is very light. My TOTAL use might not be more than 10-20 hours/year. I know that the Crafty is expensive for so little use, but I've owned a Pax and a Solo and neither was remotely adequate in terms of vapor quality, ease of draw, etc.

My question is this: Given my light use, can I be more confident that I won't run into battery failures or other issues with the unit? Are most of the battery problems occurring in units with extensive hours of use? I know that any unit can be faulty; I'm asking to what degree use-hours contributes to failures and problems.

I believe that you are the ideal crafty user, much like myself just occasionally. Imo most of the issues are from trying to do back to back bowls, when these units seem to like to be able to cool off in between. I'm guessing that certain solder points inside the unit may be the weakness but this is just my supposition.

If you can afford the drop the cash for it, you won't regret it. Blows the Solo and Pax out of the water. It really is desktop performance in a portable.

I agree with Grokit that I'd suspect a large portion of the issues arising are from long sessions and back to back bowls causing the Crafty to overheat.

Not so fast buddy , a friend of mind used the crafty maybe a handful of times within three months before it died on him. Got another one and it didnt quite heat up like it was suppose to. IMO get an arizer more reliable no matter how much or little you use it

I was considering ordering a Crafty as backup for my Mighty, but have decided that an Arizer Air is a better choice .... based on advice received from Crafty owners.

Thanks for responding (although I find "not so fast buddy" to be borderline rude). It doesn't sound like you own a Crafty and I'm actually not interested in anecdotal evidence. I'm interested more broadly in whether heavy use contributes to the rate of failure.

I know that people love the Solo (I haven't tried the Air) but I found the performance to be so inferior that I travel with my Volcano. Based on that, I'm hesitant to purchase another Arizer product. I'm willing to accept some risk in return for the chance of superb vapor performance.

The difference is Frandemarco has some sort of agenda against S&B. All he does is trash them and the Crafty, and make hyperbolic statements.

Reliability issues are fair to bring up, but that's not exactly what Fran's doing.

For what it's worth, I have a Crafty and (knock on wood) have not had any problems. I love it (though I'm not crazy about the cu maintenance). And I don't do back-to-back sessions with it.

Pop the extra fine screen that goes into the bottom of the bowl into your cooling unit. Will keep your CU much cleaner.

In many ways you're right, of course, and I thought about that before posting. But there may be degrees here. First, referring to a friend's experience is clearly anecdotal; I'm more interested in the experiences of those who own and understand the Crafty. Second, I wonder at what point a collection of "anecdotal" stories begins to take shape as reliable evidence. We all know that the FC crowd may not always be an accurate sample of all users, but I would say that significant patterns that emerge here (such as complaints about battery life) do, at a certain point, tip over into something beyond anecdotal. That is, there are enough informed forum members that, collectively, their experiences are meaningful. Otherwise there's nothing to be learned out here!
