I've noticed that when i'm changing the screen in the bowl my heat up time decreases so if your crafty is taking long to heat up change the finer screen. Also i've bought a Space Case 4pc grinder (small) and i'm not that happy with it, first the price is ridiculous second the holes are too big, i get a very course grind. My old 4piece grinder which cost me 15 euros is performing equal maybe better then a grinder that cost me 50 bucks.
Some of you may think I'm crazy, but I have used a few coffee grinders, and many metal grinders, and honestly, for what I need, I think the SnB plastic grinder works VERY well. I twist each load for no more than 5 to 10 seconds and get a very nice fine grind.
We all love our little accessories and toys we buy to improve our sessions, but honestly for me, the little plastic cheapo works as well as anything else I could use. The two exceptions I can think of off the top of my head would be, A.) If you are grinding in bulk and are just sick of the time grinding a half ounce or more takes. ( I watch tv while I grind so I really don't mind the extra time it takes over a coffee grinder. B.) those who want a keif catcher obviously will not like the SnB plastic grinder.
( I'm not interested in the kief. )
If you just love adding accessories to your collection, and I understand this as I can be this way myself, and want a quality metal grinder, then go for it. As one person pointed out, you can always grind upside down. If you are wondering, however, while you sit and grind with your stock SnB model, if a metal grinder will let you enjoy a better quality of grind, then I would not waste the money. ( A metal grinder will give you the option of buying something bigger that can grind more all at once though. )
Just one users opinion, but there it is.
