Nexus 7 2013 version (NOT the 2012 version!!!!).

Nice tablet and really solid all around media device. Works great with the crafty as long as you keep the OS on 4.4.4 and don't upgrade to 5.0

S&B STILL hasn't updated the app...
Hmm considering this or perhaps just a cheap motorola moto g if i can get a decent deal.

Otherwise I could just set what I need with a friend's phone (I only use two heats on my Mighty as is - 175c dry and 202c with water for full whitewall) and use the crafty in the simplest possible way - no app. :D

I have thrown my lot in with S & B and sold my sub, and hope that this will be repaid with good after sales support and service. I hadn't been using the sub much for the last week or so before I decided to sell it, and this was all because the Mighty through glass was just so tasty and incredibly easy!

With @Ratchett's SonG adapters I can see the Crafty and Mighty being the only flower vapes I need for a very long time. The Mighty generates clouds which taste better than any Cloud model I've used and the Sublimator, and all other vapes I've ever tried, it also can milk up a piece as much as a Cloud (definitely cannot outmilk the sub, to noone's surprise!).

My plan is for the Mighty to be my at home and long trip vape, and my crafty is the short outing vape.

I actually want to use the crafty without the app completely and really look forward to being able to have such a small cloud-generating machine!

The previous page of the thread might seem a little choppy now, since I just dumped 29 posts into a new thread. Here's part of post #24:

But this is really not the best place to have this discussion, so if anyone wants to continue it they should open a new thread in vaporizables. Let's try to keep this thread Crafty-centirc.

This seemed pretty clear to me, but apparently not all of the class got it, right @tripleg, @DMPesso, @Volteric, @tdriver, and @lwien?

Almost there...
At the end of my testing I discovered that the best way to use the Crafty is as it was shipped!!
It works best and functions best when assembled as designed.
Adding a wt by using some tubing or an adapter works the best!

Battery life is so-so and it requires an external pack if you are going to use it more than a few times in a day, unless you have access to power.
Not a big deal because I love the small form factor!!
Perfect for walks, hikes, bike rides or a picnic!!!

The third statement seems to contradict the first two? Is that what you really meant to say?

Yes!!:D
I meant to say that and imo it is correct.
If you check my posts where I was trying to use the Crafty in different configurations, it will make sense.
So after all my testing, I found it works best assembled as per the instructions using the cooling unit.
Attaching something to the mouthpiece does not imo conflict what I said according to my experiments.

IE: when I tried it without the cooling unit, it worked well but something was missing from the experience. Adding the CU back corrected it.
Adding something to the original, unmodified CU mouthpiece does not change the original configuration, imo.

What I did discover was that without the cooling unit on and only using the Flexicone the flavor of the herb was more familiar to me, similar to my MiniVap.
Adding the cooling unit produced a more robust flavor that did not seem to be quite as flavorful and some of the delicate profiles were missing.
Kind of like it gives you everything at once almost.
Not a bad thing at all, but if you are used to your herb tasting a certain way and a vape changes it, I usuay see if I can find a way to get the profiles I desire.
:science:

Please note the liberal use of IMO as everything I stated is the way it affects me and the way I use my vapes.

Ah, Ok, I see now, you mean that IYO, the best way to add water filtration is an adapter that still lets you keep the Cooling Unit on instead of latching straight over the oven. Gotcha. Sounds like some kind of engineering magic in this S&B designed top piece.

Exactly!!
Sorry about the long, drawn out reply...
Still not thinking clearly from my cold...

EDIT:
So i decided to do a stir before boosting tonight!
Remember the static in the loading tool? Well the stir tool has the same static! LOL!!
Picked up half my load...
Don't think i will bother with stirring anymore, not that it is required anyway.

Nicely medicated tonight after an almost full bowl of Chemo!
Taste was a bit blah but i think i may just need to clean my CU more often.
I think the amount of different strains i have could be a problem...LMAO!!!!

Time to eat!

Crafty has landed. Giving it the first charge now! I already have my Mighty GRGonG (Gerry-Rigged GonG consisting of a 45 degree 18 m-m adapter, a tiny piece of silicone whip tubing and some external rubber bands/insulation tape around the outside of the silicon/glass airpath to hold it all together) ready to adapt either my Mighty or Crafty to glass quickly and on demand :D

You'll find me somewhere in the clouds :science::leaf:

EDIT: First hit of the Crafty after unit was fully charged was done at standard boost temp (195c) through my Luke Wilson bubbler. Milk was epic, bong was whitewalled, bowl spent in 3 inhales. Unit is tiny and lightweight, battery indicator still indicates full charge after this quick 3 min or so session.

However, I have noticed that using the crafty upside down leaks noticable vapor from the bottom of the heater section of the unit (presumably through the air intake) if you leave the unit sitting at 195c after it has heated to temp. However, no leaking when inhaling.

I have never had this with the Mighty, but perhaps the air intake hole placement is different on this?

Still, the Crafty is hands down the best portable for on the go usage, just remember that you aren't gonna get fuckloads of juice out of it, so use it as a travel companion - not a daily driver!

I have found that using an 18mm bubbler with a 14mm low profile reducer works well as a WPA. I just load the crafty, place the oil pad on top, then just hold the crafty level directly on top of the reducer. It makes a perfect air tight seal and the effects do seem slightly better using same herb, weight, etc...
The rubber band shown in the pics was only used to keep the reducer connected while taking the pics, but would not be in the air path and the reducer doesn't seem to get very warm during a 15 min session.

Just got the crafty. It's the best invention ever they thought of every little thing. The clouds are insane. There is no better portable in existence. Do you guys think it's better to put some oil (shatter) directly on top of the bud or is it really better to use the liquid pad?

Finally got around to using some concentrates. They weren't of the greatest quality, they weren't pliable, they crumbled. Packed a small amount of herb, no liquid pad. Worked fantastic.

The Crafty handled the task like a champ, I started at 345, 355, 360, 370, 385+

The clouds just kept coming, and coming, and coming.

Quite pleasing effects, totally relaxed, no anxiety at all, completely medicated.

This might be the cleanest way imaginable to ingest concentrates. They taste like heaven.

I feel that if you know how to work the dial (ironic because there's no dial), if you work the temperature ranges, you get a much better experience.

Standard settings would do the trick, but your herb isn't optimized unless the vaporist has a sense of exactly when to bump the temp up in small, progressive increments.

That's half the fun of the vape, finding how to optimize each strain. Each strain responds differently, and if you just rely on the standard temp settings, you won't be getting the fullest experience of that herb, and more importantly you won't be getting the fullest experience of this vape, and everything it's capable of.

I've tried the oil pad but I also tried a layer of flower with liquid pad over that with shatter on top of thst and thst was sublime. I'm going to try what @Ricchini does namely a flower bed with a dab on top no liquid pad.

Anyway, welcome to portable heaven!

Lol thanks bro. The crafty really is that amazing! But when I pull off the cooling chamber I notice a couple crumbs of flowers on the screen on the cooling chamber. Wouldnt the oil go into the screen if it's just on top of the flowers without the screen?

You know something your right. I noticed because I always smoke before work a few bong rips and sometimes it can make me feel RETARTED and have a slight anxiety feeling. With the crafty and I guess vaping in general you don't get that anxiety feeling just the relaxed THC feeling! Love it!

This vape is so sick I left it charging in the other room and I'm laying in my bed and I just opened the app while it's charging and it shows U the status of the battery real time. U can connect to it from a distance. This is the future of vaporizers lol

Presenting VapeLog, a simple Crafty client with a built in data logger for Macs with Bluetooth 4.

VapeLog is working well. Was surprised that I didn't have to enter my serial number to connect. Thanks @Sasquatch_Jr! In addition to iOS & Android, Crafty can now be used with a Mac or Windows computer (with emulator).

That's great if some do! My point was that's it's not the right fit for me. When it comes to technology less is more. I like to keep things simple. I never said that the Crafty is not a great device... because it is. It's just not for me.

Totally agree about keeping things simple! In this context, simple for me would be removing an extra display that adds bulk and weight whose functionality can be replaced by an app. Less really is more but I guess it depends on what you mean by "less."

Well I'm assuming as the unit heats up the dab melts into the flower bed. The flowers act as a natural liquid pad with no metalicy flavor. Nom nom nom.

That darker part is abv of the crafty full blast at 410f. The rest is abv of my volcano classic at 8.5 which is 425'f

what are you saying, the temps are not correct?? crafty displays too low or/and volcano too much?? :hmm:

lol these temp readings are never referring to the temp of your bud, but rather the temp as measured at whichever point in the vaporizer the manufacturer saw fit. I'll leave you guys to consider the implications of this for saying whether temps are correct or not. Apples and oranges and all that!

The Crafty/Mighty duo have been my ONLY flower vapes for a couple of days now. So far, so great!

I have found with the Crafty that in the interest of not wasting that precious battery, it is best not to fuck around switching between a bunch of temps on the same load!

I have my standard temp at 175c, which is my dry hits temp. This heat is not too harsh, producing decent dry vapor hits and you can hit it pretty hard without feelings like you're making out with a blow dryer.

I just vape a full bowl at 175c dry until not enough clouds are coming out. I then jack it up to my boost temp of 200c and connect it to my luke wilson rig through my dodgy custom GonG. The same bowl will white wall your piece for 3 or 4 big hits and then the bowl is spent. Plenty of enjoyment from one bowl, none of the telling your heater to do all kinds of temperature gymnastics invariably causing it to be less efficient with the batteries.

Still, the Crafty is not gonna be a daily driver unless you are predominately using it plugged in, or don't vape much. It just doesn't have the juice to keep hitting all day!

Still, when it does have the juice, you'll be hard pressed to find anything you'd rather vape with! :D

Couldn't agree more, which is why I've been working on this vape temp chart to help show the subtle range of effects cannabis can have on our bodies depending on temperature setting. This is the real benefit of vaping for me, besides it being less toxic than smoking.

Wow cool! Would love to see a side by side posting of your Volcano ABV vs your Crafty at the same temp.

You can actually order a lot of those terps now and literally add a drop of whichever one you want to your vape. I have a few coming and I plan to test them in the crafty.
