Cheap High Quality Bubbler

I have one. It's excellent, and I use all my hydratubes or interesting glass connectors on top of it. Smaller than you'd think, but thick glass and heavy. I plan to use it with my vapexhale whip system at some point, but I'm just not into whips so I haven't tried yet.

Basically, if you like it you should go for it.

Thanks for the feedback! Yes, size-wise, the smallest I can get away with the better. Just one of those pieces that I instantly liked the look of, I reckon this'll be fun.

I need to stay off this thread, I didn't realise glass could be so interesting... :ugh:

@Shit Snacks I see you purchased this piece a few months ago:

New glass chimney glass chimney water pipe glass base GB-315

Just wondering what your verdict is, after this time? (Or anyone else who's got this piece).

Yes it is a solid little piece, not the best perc, but certainly far from the worst, it is small, which is part of the problem the perc is a bit big for the size of the volume, so with water level etc it's just not ideal imo though it is still the best base for my hydro tubes (older straight style with bent necks by evolver) And it is unique that it has 14 mm female but 18 mm male at the top... Functionally it is not that dissimilar from the Texas Hot Glass sherlock shredder honestly, and hard to argue with the price (yes decent thick quality too from Genesis Glass always)

Also, can someone link me to the best whip adapter (ideally on Dhgate) that I'd need, (perhaps a mouthpiece link would be useful as well). Cheers!

I don't have any to link you, they're all the same or less it's hard to really know, you can get them from Amazon and eBay too, various other stores that are not expensive, so you don't have to order from DHG... Plenty of US resellers, I actually got really nice whip adapters from someone else who bought them from Oregon glass blower, I'm sure they cost more but never seen any of this nice... Others are hit or miss

Thanks Snacks. I'm a noob at this, and didn't think that a perc could be too big for the piece. That's useful to know. I've ordered the 198 based on El Duderino, coolbreeze and your high praises for it, so that's sorted. I might just bag this, though! Be interesting to compare the differences.

Yeah mostly in this case means softer draw is better, if you rip it too hard there's not much volume to move if you have too much water with the big perc, but a slower sip is no issue! And depends on the attachments etc of course, I used it on its own a bit, and stacked with my tubes, but I actually haven't used it since that first time really?

Nice! Best cheap herbal recycler available and fine for dabbing too :tup:

I am too stoked to not show off this beauty... sorry I don't have a link since I found this at a local shop (in India!) ... i paid the equivalent of about 4 US $ for it, bargained down from 5.... embarassing, but had to be done. I can only assume it is only made with the cheapest possible glass in China but the glasswork is legit and it's a great companion for the Hydravong or whatever they call this Dynavap version.. It has no diffuser at all at the end of the downstem.
It has a pleasing pomegranate red colour and gives off nice refractions and reflections, and the main body is not just a round bottle but features twisted ribs, adding to the funkiness. I have been getting some nice rips with this rig, using the local mountain cream  and a small ball of SS wool on top of the screen to prevent clogging.

Hoping for a little advice.

I'm planning to purchase a Phase 3 ZX. Yesterday--for the first time ever--I destroyed a well-loved bong. Knocked it right of my desk, and it is done. So I need a new unit.

As I mentioned in the Phase 3 thread (excuse any repetition) I'd like to pick up a modular kit that mates nicely with the ZX. I'd like the unit to be stable, heavy, with a low center of gravity (to avoid tipping) and I would like to be able to run a whip-hose, so the water-pipe would remain on a table (in order to minimize risks). I will likely be using this set up with old people--hell, I'm old LOL--and I don't want to risk burning anyone or anything. IFKWIM?

Ideally the kit would allow a whip hose to be replace with a mouthpiece stem if/when the mood strikes (or I have young people over). Modular.

I'm trying to figure out my options and hope to solicit opinions from those with more experience pairing glass with ball style vapes, particularly the ZX. I've not been in the glass market for a long time.

One that seems interesting is the SamL FC-199 kit. Thoughts?

Another suggestion, from @coolbreeze , is the Texas Hot Glass 14mm Shredder, which looks nice, but is also a bit dear.

I'm all ears. Well not all ears, but you get the idea.

I think the FC-199 is a good match in your situation. As would be the FC-MOD (https://www.dhgate.com/product/2015-new-34-5cm-height-glass-bong-with-matrix/255741536.html). Both work really well with ball vapes. I think the FC-199 is a bit more stable, but the FC-MOD isn't bad, either.

I also really like this one, though it's a bit more costly. TAG do a lot of discounts - I think I paid about half that price for mine: https://www.thickassglass.com/produ...-detachable-neck-hose-mouth-piece-18mm-female

The TAG is a bit harder to clear than the others (more volume), but it's huge, and heavy.

HTH!

The TAG appears to be out of stock at the moment. Nice. Pricey at full freight.

Based only on visuals the FC-199 seems more stable (lower center of gravity) than the FC-MOD. The latter's stability would be a non-issue in other circumstances, but I need to be very careful about having a near-tip-proof setup at my future residence. I really will be getting old people high (self-included).

And, of course, I'd like the setup to play well with a Phase 3 ZX.

I've also read people recommend velcro tape for holding glassware down on tables effectively. Haven't tried it myself, but that might open up a few more options for you ;-)

Whatever you end up with you should get proper medical grade silicone tubing elsewhere and not use the whip that comes with it from China... I would highly recommend the new FC mod as well, or the TAG, for more ideal modular rigs, people seem to like the 199 though I don't have that one, I have non-modular straight fabs instead... If you want to spend more money you might want to check out the cloud connoisseur options too though

@Shit Snacks , what’s the small goo roo 3 piece clone? I think that one would fit his bill with the ZX pretty good if you’ve got a link.

Oh dear. Next I'll be wearing velcro closure shoes. I may be old, but I'm not that old.

I could not do a velcroed bong. Not this decade anyway. Got to have some style. Not a bad idea. But no. LOL

Thanks for the mention of the tubing, I don't think that would have crossed my mind otherwise. Do you have a preferred source for medical grade silicon tubing?

I'll look at the Cloud Connoisseur options.

Cheers,

Yeah that is the new FC mod above, with diffusion downstem, nine holes open bottom, no ash catch needed

Honestly fine from Amazon anywhere

I'll look at the Cloud Connoisseur options.

Yeah there are a lot of other choices too, if you can skim around, Google searching sometimes helps find stuff here easier too? Depending on your price range... would also highly recommend good drop down adapters, good whip adapters and potentially some other accessories too, various different levels of cheap or expensive made by different sources

Sorry for a newbie question, but what size tubing should I order? 10mm? Not positive.

I'm all into adding glass to customize the experience.

I just pulled the trigger on an FC-199. I think I can build a very nice rig off that platform.

Aside from looking cool, what is the advantage of a drop down adapter?

They'll help keep your piece a lot cleaner. Ball vapes put through a lot less muck vs smoking, but they still get pretty gross. A dropdown will take the worst of it, and save you some cleaning of your full rig.
Ah ha. That makes sense.

A small, easily cleanable part takes one for the team.

Thanks!

It actually also adds a little more cooling! makes it easy to switch connection sizes in any direction, moves vape bowl lower and or to the side further out of your face too

and
for good option examples

Thank you kindly, good sir.

Then I think what I'd need to mate with the ZX would be an 18mm male connection (to the FC-199) dropping down to a 14 mm female) to couple with ZX. Is that correct?

Happy to be corrected (as I'm likely to add one to my cart as soon as I "research" these options).

In addition to all the other advantages: cooling, looking cool, facilitating connections across size differences, I figure a drop down will also lower the center of gravity of an already squat and heavy bong. Stability!

Bill (off to shop on DH Gate, I'm a brand new account holder, don't you know)

ETA: I'm seeing some drop downs that appeal, that would not work without adapters, say 18mm male to 18mm female. Do you think adding an adapter to the path would asking for problems (or not)?

Second ETA: I'm not seeing much in the way of 18mm male to 14mm female that looks to have enough clearance. If I had to go with adapters, go you think I'd be better going 18mm and putting a 14mm adapter in between the ZX Zirconia bowl or using a 14mm (adapted to 14mm where it attaches to the FC-199)?

Third ETA: Adding a rough "concept" for a FC-199.

The Whip-hose attachment is incorrect. Below that is a bypass (to be used as a fingerable carburetor) with a drop down. Still trying to figure the best drop down options. Probably need to use an adapter, but on which end? Decisions, decisions.

Yes that is correct, the one from Genesis glass, lumin88, is available 18-14 etc, also the other one, is available that way, you have to buy two at a time but if you ask they can send you two different sizes instead of two of the same... You could also use a reducer adapter in the drop down instead, but I prefer all one piece... With the style of joint on the FC-199, they should all clear without issue, I guess the compact ones depends on your bowl set up etc, but it fits a lot of what I have without issue, more than I expected, although some can be a close tight fit (you can also get drop down adapters like this from vgoodiez and many more local options)

@Spy Car while you’re shopping, you should snag a 18 to 14 simple reducer like THIS in case a drop gives too much restriction for your preference.

I have a simple 18 to 14 reducer. That's covered.

However, I'm not seeing a 18mm male to 14mm female drop down adapter that looks good to me thus far. Uncommon.

Trying to figure (opinions welcome) if it would be better use an 18mm drop down and adapt to 14 where the ZX would couple, or whether to use a reducer to 14mm when coupling to the FC-199?

Is the FC model designation a nod to the forum, or coincidence?

Thank you for your input. Much appreciated!

Yea, pretty uncommon config. I personally like the bigger tubing for this rig. I’ve got a few DH ones, but usually end up using the TAG (2nd quality) that are better made imo.

.... I'm fairly certain both of the links I shared have 18-14 in both directions available... Check their other links, they both offer that, I have that from each of them...

Yes, a lot of stuff there is there because of us, that manufacturer puts that in the design name for many of the models that originated from members here helping them, there are many custom orders that have become readily available on DHgate and many sellers are easy to work with, accommodating with the message feature there

Hi,
I'm looking for a round bong with a hose.

I'm interested in Mega Globe MK 2.
Now I discovered an offer on Aliexpress, but I'm not sure whether I should order there.

And is it exactly the same model as in this video?
