Ascent Vaporizer by DaVinci

I tried to search but couldn't find anything so figured I would ask.

I just got my ascent back from repairs ...this time they just returned a new ascent and charger no free glasswear :(.

The thing I did notice was the 2aa1 now has a R after it followed by the numbers. Any ideals?

It's probably not "new" - the 2AA1 R probably means it's a refurbished unit - I believe a while back they mentioned they were shipping refurbished units from now on (not completely new units like they did in the beginning)

Thanks that makes sense. Looks brand new except it won't shut right. Sadly just noticed the top of hinge piece is broke off. Ah well guess back to the shop it goes. Maybe next one being the 7th will be of better luck.

Tamping material down with jars is perfect and so is the water tube instead of stock tube very impressive unit I love it!!! Massive clouds I'm even getting visible vapor at 330 degrees Fahrenheit... Also, with glass concentrated I just put it on the glass flower. throw it right on top of the material then a screen on top of the flower perfectly medicated

ok that's what I thought from some of the stuff I've read about the air leak on the stock stem, but wasn't 100% sure. Guess I'll have to order one of those too...and maybe a pnp water attachment clone from sunshine store.

I have not seen this pro tip.
Do you draw on your hot Ascent and hear it gurgling? If so.....clean up your mess. Open your still hot Ascent and wipe off the glass screen and adjoining silicone surfaces with a double layer of scrap cotton cloth. The condensation/resin/drool liquid mess comes off quickly while oven is hot. Give the stem a toot to blow more liquid in stem onto cloth.
This action helps keep the stems cleaner longer, and reduces resin accumulation on silicone surfaces. This also decreases the frequency and intensity of risky alcohol cleaning as well.
Another couple of random thoughts. DaVinci replaces the batteries in all serviced Ascents. Do the other retailers replace batteries in their refurbished units too?
Are these retailers sending out any "factory repaired" units, or just the ones they are fixing on site? Maybe DaVinci would comment? Maybe ask some questions myself.

I love the ascent and get big clouds. I don't grind, and use my truck key to tamp everything. Of course making sure I don't scratch nothing, but I literally pack it in. When doing this the amount doesn't matter IMO. I also don't use anything as a spacer. Instead I do the slightest of inhales. You can see the vapor moving through the glass. If vapor gets thin, it's because the material has been sucked off the bottom of the heater and needs to be re tamped. When this happens I usually stir and retamp just for the favor, but stirring is not completely necessary in my opinion.
Good job @Davinci_vaporizer I find your product worth every penny.

Honestly not to impressed by my replacement..least in the past you received a new unit with glassware etc. Honestly, I don't need anymore of the stuff included with the new kit. It was just a nice touch to help off set cost of shipping back unit.

This replacement came broke out of the box. No glassware etc.
Looks like a factory repair since looks new except for being a 2aa1R serial number on device. The clasp tip is broken off and was inside box. Unit doesn't shut tight so back it goes.

Honestly folks who are thinking about the mass drop make sure it has a warranty. Its a good vaporizer when it works. Sadly for me hasn't been the case. Hoping this next one is the one (althou at this point might just gift it away at christmas)

I would not buy an Ascent unless you have a warranty with it. It's a great vaporizer but with any unit you need to have a warranty in case you have problems. It happens to everyone at one time or another, no matter how careful you are. Good luck and happy vaping.

I am so glad to see that in print. Up to this post, I have been made to feel by some writers that my frequent RMAs are my fault, caused somehow, statistically speaking .........because it just had to be or it seems to me,......or just because I am an RMA outlier LOL, LMAO:rofl::rofl::rofl:
THIS IS A GREAT VAPORIZER. But I agree wholeheartedly with CarolKing that you are going to need that two year warranty from your retailer. I think now it is clear, that reliability issues exist with the Ascent. Unless clearly indicated otherwise i.e. dog bite marks, the consumer should not be blamed for an Ascent's frequent failure. They should be congrafulated for their faithfulness to this unique mechanical marvel. As you often do CarolKing :)

Hoping this next one is the one (althou at this point might just gift it away at christmas)
Your gift isn't worth much unless you will do an RMA request for the recipient of your gift if there are problems.

Well of course hoping when I get unit back it's in perfect working order. I really enjoyed the ascent, heck was daily driver. Just moved on to other vaporizer that fit my needs better.

Value must be different in your part of the woods, cause I know a few people that would love a brand new condition ascent with lots of extra glassware. Just cause I had quality issue doesn't mean they will.

Gotta say I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Ascent! For me the biggest thing is having a ceramic bowl and the glass instead of most other vapes with plastics. I find that I get the best flavor with these vapes I also recently bought a Firefly which has completely blown my mind. Recently been all about the ceramics and glass when you're paying a good price for your bud I want to be able to get the best flavor! Thanks to Davinci for making such a great unit. I've only really ever heard about problems with the temperature display not working but more recently seen complaints about it not working well for oils? I've mainly used mine for dry materials but was curious about this if its an airflow issue in the glass jars.

My friends call me "Menz"
someone on here a few pages back drilled some holes in the glass jars to use for dry material. i think that experiment went well if i remember right but have not heard of anyone else trying it

Just got my Ascent. It's a bit smaller than I thought it'd be, but that's not a bad thing. Herb chamber doesn't look huge. Looking at it, some of the silicone around the oven looks to be a bit loose. Like it isn't neatly tucked under the lip of the oven. Also when I pull up on the mouth piece I noticed the lining of the pathway pulls up a bit. Is this normal?

Yes this is a known problem. By pulling the silicone up it exposes a gap and allows air to be drawn from the upper part, affecting the vapor/air ratio. There are various possible fixes including putting a silicone o-ring under the buddy rim (efficient but problematic for cleaning, also a bit risky if you are not careful) or over the buddy rim (more practical but less air tight) or using the GonG adapter as an upper straw (less transportable but good compromise I think)

I thought they tackled the problem in the latest revision but apparently it's still there. Whatever fix you chose to implement you will get a more satisfying vapor/air ratio and you will enjoy your Ascent even more!

PS: for more details please make sure to read this thread as there are a lot of good tips inside (or read at least the last 100 pages it should be enough)

Hello all, I am a solo arizer and extreme q user, I love both of these. I am going to buy an ascent also for better portability , love solo but not easily portable for me. Question to DAVICI and thread users: how can I make sure I am buying the latest model of the ascent? serial number etc? I would like to buy the latest model only , thanks in advance. much love and respect.

I just got my warenty replacement Ascent from GotVape,
I was sent a new boxed unit with all new accessories in box. Score!!
I had to pay shipping both ways, but I got 2 sets of stems, charger, and plastic bag of stuff. I thought it was quick service, I noted they shipped it out Sat.
I gave it a good charge, and in spite of the faint electronic fart taste I put the Ascent to work. I'll run a couple burnoffs tomorrow to clean up the taste. The Carbon Fiber is one pretty unit IMO. I am not going to let up on my silver Croc Skin. No sense babying this Ascent with a 18 month warenty left.
I am glad I didnot get a repaired unit, and the new gear was a nice score.

I'm new to this forum. I've gained great information from these forums and am glad to know i'm not alone in dealing with some of the issues with the ascent, although I still find myself loving it. I'm getting all the glassware for my ascent tomorrow. I just got it shipped back to me for the 4th time, however, this time it is clearly refurbished and not replaced. That also explains my lack of any glassware. I sent my vape in with its glassware and it came back empty. I was having issues with battery life (about an hour for a full charge) and problems with the oil jars. They get stuck so easily and to the point where they simply can't come out. I tried tirelessly to get it out but it wouldn't budge, and in fact it started pulling the chamber out itself. Now, the bowl was clean before hand and it still got stuck. I really want to enjoy my concentrates but I just don't feel comfortbale trying anymore. I am going to have my vape ready for use tomorrow. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to properly use the glass jars. I've seen a few people give their own personal tips and tricks. How do you guys use your oil jars?

Welcome, Many folks use wax inside the herb or use the cotton. I've never had success with the jars. It spilled and made a mess for me. I've just heard a couple people that like using them here on FC. We're just a handful compared to users worldwide.

The jars are pretty much a waste of time, IMO. I put them away and dont even look at them anymore.

Welcome @rrnarewatt1, Indeed like @KeroZen stated, 1 hour is about average, the battery ratings you see advertised are most likely based on a single continuous run (less battery-draining preheat cycles means they can advertise higher battery life than real-world use)

Indeed, most people don't use the jars - however if you are having problems with them getting stuck, you can pre-heat the oven to a low temperature and use a long thin nail through the bottom of the Ascent to push the jar loose

Many people use a ball of 100% organic cotton, (or if you can find it - 100% de-gummed hemp fiber - sold by hemptraders - supposedly gives it a better earthy taste over the cotton). Another alternative would be Stainless Steel "Aromapads" made by Herbalizer - those would help contain the mess (and taste better than cotton in my opinion!) - though I don't know if the aromapads would scratch the glaze on the oven.....
