.it might screw something up for good.

Fair enough. I'll see if I can duplicate the issue when I get mine.

I'm good at breaking things but fortunately, I'm also good at not only fixing things but not breaking them to the point of their not being able to be fixed. ;)

I'll post back on this after I've had a chance to check it out.

In any event, thanks for the heads up as to what problems may exist.

This is a bit of a random question, but hoping someone will answer. You know when you unbox the ascent... are the glass tubes all in the foam cushion? or is one already inside the ascent?

wondering if maybe I was sold a refurbished unit, that was claimed to be "new".

Thanks guys!

You should be getting two total... one already in the unit

It's not refurbished. The empty slots are there to hold the set that is already in the Ascent.

That was my guess, but it doesnt logically make sense to create a foam cutout that fits the glass tube precisely, if there will never be a use for it. Because one of them will always be in the unit right?

maybe ive vaped too much lol

Nah, you didn't vape too much. I had the same question when I first got mine.

(Maybe we both vaped too much..... :uhh: )

I must say ... I love my Ascent ... just spent a weekend away at a hockey tournament for my son, and its a great little, relatively discrete, device. I brought my MiniVAP as well, but only pulled it out a couple times for some heavier hitting sessions quickly (wanted that intense THC rush as I don't drink and others there were drinking in the evenings so with a little buzz on I feel more comfortable and less left out.)

Used my Ascent every few hours and just brought w/ me 1/2 a dozen pre-ground jars (didn't go through even 1/4 of what I ground) and some emergency jars just in case too :) It worked great, and I didn't feel odd or like there was a spotlight on me when I was outside vaping. The few people that noticed didn't care and were kinda' interested in the device and have no issues (think its great) that I find other ways to get a buzz since alcohol isn't my thing (or is too much my thing which is why I abstain now). Didn't get into the medical discussion ... wasn't required as they were comfortable enough already (don't need to make them uncomfortable by revealing that I'm crazy--ie. bipolar ... not meant to offend anyone else that is bipolar ... just before my diagnosis I always felt different than most and the crazy/eccentric label has always kinda' followed me and now it just makes sense ... I embrace my crazy side ... its my favorite one :))

Anyways ... didn't even bring my oil/concentrate vapes or any concentrates as w/ the Ascent I'm covered as far as portable/discrete. (1-1.5 min heatup time and <5 min session easily possible) This way I get to save my concentrates for evenings at home when I want to get really vaked as opposed to them being my primary weapon in my discrete portable arsenal :)

So my replacement ascent has an issue where it doesn't want to heat up to the chosen temp if I change it during a session. I start at 375 it gets there. I up it to 400 and it only wants to show 396 or something like that and the temp bar doesn't really show it heating, it sort of flashes and then goes to the cup. My first one actually had a time delay to get to temp which makes sense.

If I try to go to 420, it'll just sit there at 396 and I have to power cycle it to get it to heat to temp.

Does anyone else have this issue? I really don't want to do a second rma as I will have paid over 50 bucks to have this thing shipped back and forth all these times.

Thanks.

Not sure I completely understand your issue. Once it gets close to the set temp it should just show the cup and the set temp. So for example. If I set mine to 380 I will see the thermometer and it may go up to say 369 or 370 then switch to the cup and the temp will go right to 380. If I then change it to 400 it may briefly switch to the thermometer but sometimes it just flashes it and then goes right to the cup and the temp jumps right to 400. Once it is up to temp it does not take much for it to go up 10, 20, or 30 degrees.

I'm saying it doesn't heat to set temp. I set it for 400 it will only heat to and show 396. I have to power cycle for it to hit 400. Sometimes when I change the temp mid session it does nothing. It just shows the cup and the previously set temp.

My first ascent did not show any of these problems til it crapped out

Nah, you didn't vape too much.

I'd like to offer to act as an impartial third party to help settle the dispute.

I'd like to.

However, I've definitely vaped too much.

I'm not sure how to proceed at this point, is there need of a fourth party? I don't know if that is described in the forum rules or not. :|

I must say ... I love my Ascent ...

I'm very happy to hear that. I have a "vested interest" since mine should arrive on Thursday.

I really enjoyed reading your monologue of how easily you seemed to be able to assimilate it into use.

In any event, thanks for a very interesting read!

[EDIT]Having read some of your previous posts, I see my following suggestion isn't all that necessary as this IS a replacement for you but, it is still my opinion that the unit you have is busticated and they need to fix it.[/EDIT]

I think your best option is contacting Karma and relaying your situation to them. I am not speaking from experience but from what I have read throughout this and related threads suggests that you likely have a faulty unit and that their customer service, once they get engaged in your claim, are prompt to act.

I don't know what recent return turn-arounds are taking place but I know that some were reporting only having to be without their device for a week, or less.

Were I you, I'd contact Karma or drop a message on their account here and get a dialogue going.

Got it. It is definitely not working correctly. Unfortunately it sounds like you will have to get it replaced.

Hello All
First of all I wanted to thank all of you for providing so much useful information as I'm new to the portable vape game. I have read thru about 100 pages of this post and have found it incredibly helpful. I ordered myself a Ascent yesterday in the carbon fiber. I was hoping that someone could take a look at the attached link and let me know if these beads would be a good fit to pack with the flowers in the bowl. Thanks in advance!

Good news, my replacement has shipped and should be here on Friday. Does anyone know if they are sending out refurbished replacements or new ones?

Had a problem with my Ascent this afternoon. I fired it up on the road and turned on the personal vape cycle . It froze with that screen displayed...the one with the three temps and times.
I could not change the screen or shut it off to reboot. The bowl quit heating and slowly cooled off
so just the screen was locked. It wouldn't shut off with the motion sensor either.
I figured I had a dud..feeling kinda pissed off as I like this vape and now have to return it.
Later upon close inspection in the light I noticed the little rubber settings button was kind of wedged under the digital display screen ..it was kind of cockeyed.
So I took the pick and pulled it back into place and the Ascent works fine now..whew.

It must have been my fault for brutalizing the button....must be more gentle in the future.

Same thing happened to me about a month ago..still works..whew lol

Just now catching up with this thread, after not getting any notifications for about a week...

He took one hit and said, "This thing tastes awful." ... but the taste lingered. Although it was faint, it still was enough to ruin the experience. (We're both pretty sensitive to flavours.) This morning the off taste has almost faded away, so there's no permanent damage.

When I got my very first one, I tried some essential oils in it for the first couple of runs. Kinda cool. Eventually, I went to use flowers, and it tasted AWFUL. Turns out it was the ginger in the oils that lingered in the device. Took a week to get rid of that taste.
:p

Benn addressed a few times in this very thread. New.

Ya kind of disconcerting but glad I noticed it before returning for warranty.

I wonder if DaVinci has gotten any returns for this reason.

This was discussed back in about July, as one of the non-critical but "design important" revisions that was made. They were playing with the height of the buttons to offset them, but so as to not stick. (Old ones, you could get the rubber to jam the switch in to a contact state.) This shouldn't happen a lot any more, but you'll occasionally see it if you press the button just right (just wrong? :) ) You indeed found the solution. :)

EDIT:
having read discussions here in the relevant threads for both, every single page.

I didn't read every page because I wanted to be able to say I did so but instead, because of the gold that was scattered on each and every one of the pages of the two primary threads of which I write.

Bless you good FCer!
Welcome, and good post.

I've followed this thread from the beginning and must have missed that discussion.
You don't have to press too hard on the control buttons normally but that day I was driving a big old lumpy truck ..maybe I pressed the button same time as I hit a bump.

I had ordered the Stealth Ascent Vaporizer about 2 in a half weeks ago. This is my 2nd portable vaporizer, first being MFLB. I did enjoy the discreet design, fast heat up, good vapor but felt like it took awhile to finish one load, I always run it on 430, wish it could get hotter for quicker sessions to serve it's stealthy purpose IMO (My opinion may be influenced by MFLB). But my unit completely stopped heating up after 2 weeks of straight use. When I turn it on it stays on 70, but when I plug in the charger it starts heating up right away. When plugged to the charger the ascent doesn't show its being charged either. I am very disappointed in the reliability of this device, for I really needed it at the time it stopped working. I have only dropped it once from waist height, no biggy. One week after for no reason just stopped heating. I spoke with their customer service, and they will give me a refund after they test it. I sent my Ascent yesterday, after cleaning it out as best I could with ISO and rubbing some Rosemary oil around the package (in case it still smelled). Overall I think the ascent is a good design, just needs to be tested more for defects, and if your getting it for stealth, I don't think its the best except for the fact it looks like a cell phone/mp3. I am going back to MFLB, their sending me a new LB and PA. Hope all will go well and I get my refund. Will keep you guys updated

For those social media junkies out there, here is another contest that just started today:

Also, I agree about the empty foam being weird, but there is a logical reason behind it really. We ship our glass separate and assemble here. We were putting glass in the unit- because who doesn't like a unit ready to go, but still needed the foam to use as packing so the contents didn't shift in the box.

OK HERE'S MY UPDATE:
Recieved my replacement Ascent a couple of weeks ago, though first it must be said I could not be happier with the customer service at Organicix, thank you Erika for putting up with constant drop outs on SKYPE as I Iive right beside the middle of nowhere in WA's Goldfields and my signal is not the strongest. She was also sniffeling because of a cold and still was a pleasure to talk to.
So what do I think now I have a working model. I can only compare it to the Da Vinci but it is a step up for sure and I'm still very happy with the old girl (though she will go back home to relearn how to go down, read earlier post). My Da Vinci is the take out on the quad exploring by myself tool and the Ascent will be me smoke every other time and if they're lucky give my mates a toke machine.
The method I use for both is start low and work my way up either in one session or a couple of goes depending how shit faced I want to get.
To see how much vapour is produced wear a head light at night and watch even when you think there is no vapour you will be surprised how much is exhaled. If you need a tighter seal wrap a cigarette paper around the glass straw works real good.
Special thanks to Nicole Jones from today with the help for my replacement Da Vinci.
