Arizer Solo

One of my stems cracked yesterday while I was cleaning it - the small parts between the holes cracked.

I'm trying to claim this under warranty, since all I did was try to put a pin through one of the holes, any advice?
They initially said warranty doesn't cover stems but that's bollocks (at least in EU you get a 2yr minimum warranty by default)

Not one company in the vaporizer market will give me warranty over glass parts, and while I broke a lot of glass (all my fault of course) - I think its more than legitimate.
You could have washed it with water and soap instead of putting pins...I know it sucks but you'll get over it...I broke 10+ EQ Elbows, few cyclobowl and a PVHES stem for the solo...

I wouldn't really expect that to be covered by warranty, I don't know about EU options, but I know replacement stems can be found in the US for about $10.

If you have a jet lighter, hold the stem with some pliers, and torch that jagged edge for a while.
You'll see the glass heat up, then glow progressively more orange until it starts to sort of seal itself up.

I've done it to broken glass before, it probably doesn't help the structural integrity of the glass, but it seals up any little fragments around a jagged edge.

Then you just need a screen in the stem and it'll work just as good as before.

Thanks for the the lighter tip, I'm surprised that one would produce enough heat. I figured the screen bit, but was concerned about glass particles.

For the record I wouldn't mind if it fell and broke or something, put I just tried to but a pin through and it came off, I didn't even push hard.

I know there is an exception about expendable parts like batteries for warranty (for obvious reasons), but haven't heard about anything like that for glass parts

With a regular jet lighter (one that's roughly in the same size category as a bic) it will take a while to heat it up, and it won't get it fully molten, but it'll do the job for sealing up the edge.

It's much quicker with a bigger torch like people use to heat up a nail for dabbing.
I used my chefs torch to seal up the edges of my gong stem after I cut some notches into the rim, and was done in a minute or 2.
I sealed up the mouthpiece end of a stem I'd chipped with a little jet lighter, and it took a fair while, but it did work.

Don't know if this has been posted or not, if so sorry for the repo.

Looking for a case I found a 24 cd case
(something similar to this; http://www.amazon.co.uk/EdNet-Quality-Nylon-Artificial-Leather/dp/B000HZ7L28

It fits the Solo, charger, stem, a grinder and some room for a little bag.

Perfect for my needs!

Found the actual one I bought;
http://www.ontech.pl/product-pol-88019-Etui-ETHNO-na-24-plyty-CD-DVD-zolw-62074-.html

Bought it for 5.5€ in a B&M shop. Also, I removed the actual CD sleeves. but that was very easy to do.

That's a great idea. I am using a pelican case for my robust travel solution but the CD case is good for local out and about. I must have these laying around.

So last night I finally ordered 2 pvheGonG's.(yay!!) This morning before leaving for work I threw the Solo on the charger like I normally do and I get the beeping and light show. No big deal it's happened before...I'll just reset it and be all set right?.....nope it won't charge at all.(just my luck!) Are there any known problems with the chargers? Can I buy a 12v 1a universal charger to see if it's the charger and not the battery or solo itself? Or does it HAVE to be that specific charger? The unit turns on and works fine it just won't charge. I'd like to avoid sending it back if possible. Thanks for your help!

Also if it is the charger anyone know if GV will replace it?

The charger is covered under warranty so if you know someone with a solo and can check it that would do you well. I think centizen just posted a walmart one to check it as well.

Yay!! My Solo is not dead!!! Just the charger which is sad cause it's only a few months old....

I ended up going to Radio Shack I got an enercell 3-12v 1a ac to dc power adapter (cant find a link to the exact one). they had a bunch of different plug ends for it so I had to make sure it fit. Luckily I brought the solo with and tried a couple the ”type B” plug fit. They wouldnt let me try it in the store to see if it even worked but it was only $20. Works perfectly so far!!

Now to deal with getting a replacement for the dead one...

You can now do a warranty exchange on the plug and return the radio shack one so it didn't cost you anything but time. I am glad it is the plug. We had a few of those throughout this thread with the recent models which is very strange cause I doubt they changed the plugs.

Dreamerr,
Pulled the trigger on a Solo this weekend. I couldn't resist 42% off from Vapeworld.

This is my third vape since I fully converted in October 2012. I also own Da Buddha and a MFLB.

I'm really look forward to experiencing this device. I've heard so much about it and it seems excellent. I will hopefully be receiving it tomorrow night!

Bummer. Another way to deal with this is to get an adapter like this:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005CMP434/ref=oh_details_o08_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

They're common in the closed circuit TV trade, Radio Shack may well carry them too. With it you can cut the cord off a dead charger, strip the ends back and screw this connector on. You can then use the very common 12 VDC connector size (2.1 X 5.5mm) which you probably have on a battery charger or something similar all ready? You need an Amp or more, a common size. Lots of 'car cords' will then work as well.

This gets around the 'funny small size connector' thing.

You won't regret it what so ever. The solo was my first vape and I haven't even thought about combustion ever since! By far the best $200 that I have ever spent ( I got a extra stem and vape case that is why it was $200)

So I've been looking through this thread for a few hours now, and I still can't seem to figure out what size tubing to use to attach the solo to a bong. I keep seeing 1/2", but does that refer to inside or outside diameter?

Both. The OD of the stem and the ID of the tube you want. Take your pick.

it depends what type of downstem your bong has. OF is right as usual though, the short answer is the tubing is 1/2" ID to put around the solo stem. I pair my solo with my bong using the stock stem and an o-ring because my bong isn't ground glass but old school soft glass with a 16 mm downstem so the solo stem is the same diameter as the bowl that went with the bong, no tubing needed

I just ran into a problem with my Solo after about a week. I plug it in to charge, and I get lights 1-3 blinking and a continuous beep. I tried doing a reset via an older post I found. I held down the buttons for 4 seconds after plugging it into the charger and then waited 10 seconds before unplugging. It didn't seem to do anything. Also, the light on my charger is red as it usually is. I emailed Arizer support, but I wanted to see if anyone here had some advice on getting it working.

If you read back even a little bit (like 6 posts or so....) you'll see there's been a rash of charger problems. I suspect you're a new member in that club?

Yeah. I'd rather not be, but it looks like that is the case. I'll have to go pick up a universal adapter for now. I'll report back later.
