If anyone knows any true fixes, without a reduction in vapor quality, please let me know.

Yeah this is the new trick I use, nothing but the stem + Solo.

Maybe it's just the stem I use but I can move it about 1 degree from side to side. Also mind you the stem in held in place by the bong since I use the glass-on-glass thing but, but the principle is the same. So I either:

1. Move the Solo back and forth 1 degree or so, so the flat bottom of the Solo bowl sort of acts like a lid on a pot, and you are removing/putting on the lid on that 1 degree angle. Or sort of like a clam opening/closing back up.

OR

2. Just move the Solo around, or the stem in a circle. I don't mean turning the stem, but sort of pushing it around on that 1 degree lean, in a circle. This is my favorite method and I seem to get nonstop vapor this way.

And finally, if that is to hard to understand or doesn't work, you can just move/slide the stem a bit out of the Solo bowl, to let more air in between the herb and the bowl.

And finallly finally, if you pack your stem too hard, no air can pass through. If it's packed, you have to suck like crazy and barely get anything. I am tending to pack it less and less the more I use my Solo. It's more fun to inhale without much drag, and get huge clouds by packing it less this way!

Amen to that! I use it with a water pipe which restricts the airflow even more. I can live with the smell. I solved the problems of the loose stem with a rubber O ring and inhaling herb with a screen. The one thing I can't remedy is the tight pull. I've tried inserting multiple screens amongst other items in the chamber and NOTHING works. I had this thing apart and was ready to start drilling additional holes in the chamber and base of the unit but determined it wouldn't work. If anyone knows any true fixes, without a reduction in vapor quality, please let me know.

I dream of an all glass heating element, a bit more vapor output and a smooth pull in a future model. While I'm at it - I want an Arizer made glass attachment to connect directly to my beloved Zob bubbler and throw in the car charger. Also include a screen pinch in the stem and screens that fit perfectly.

That's my dream vape. Makes me horny just thinking about it.

This is what i did.:smug:

Hey tiniest,

I read what you did previously and was a bit skeptical because I've tried inserting between 1 and 5 perfectly fitting screens in the chamber to lift up the glass a bit and hopefully produce a better draw. What happened was that the herb facing the screens wouldn't vape as well. If your creation solves this, I'll take one! I'll PM you now and hopefully you accept PayPal.

On a little side-note: I have noticed that for me the solo without a water tool is getting ever more difficult in that my troath seems to be getting ever more intolerant to dry and hot vapor...I actually think that now, when using the solo stems without water, I am coughing more then when I am combusting...

It was the same for me, sore throats, and coughing. That's why I've bought the little Ehle, and it works perfectly, all these symptoms resolved with water filtration.
I do not think it comes from fine particles, but rather hot and dry vapor. Anyway, I had the same problems with the Volcano, I coughed more than combustion, thus obliged to take only small inspirations.

I'm shocked by all the talk of sore throats and coughing! What temp are you guys using it at? Compared to my Volcano, Wispr, Launch Box, Thermovape, Iolite and Plenty, the Solo is easily the least irritating to the throat and lungs. I don't use a screen (could it be a dirty screen that causes coughing? or unclean tubes?), and I don't use ground herb in it, so I get hardly any particles. I usually use mine at settings 3-5, except with hash, which vapes perfectly at 7.

Different temps, different hitting styles, different throats and lungs- not surprising to me. A vape that doesn't faze one person, handed to another with the same herb, same amount, and even the same hitting style, can make person #2 cough like crazy.

Like you, I use mine between 2-5 without water filtration, and it make me cough a lot.
Now, with water filtration, I can Use it between 4-6 without cough or sore throat.
I did'nt use a screen.
But like I said, Volcano make me cough too... For minimize the sore throat, I used to drink a lot.

I got a replacement not to long ago and finally have my m106.. i took my new solo to Amsterdam for 420, it done the job real well and showed me a glimmer of what the solo can really do (was so pleased to see it turn back up after posting it back from Amsterdam!) .. After 6 months or more with a faulty unit I'm over the moon to say the least.. can't wait to take in more of what the solo has to offer!

Yeah, I thought I solved my problem with a water pipe, and tons of diffusion, but last night, a different batch made me cough pretty good. I can live with that, however - it just makes me want to find ways to make it better, or eliminate the problem.

On the other hand when I used to combust almost nothing made me cough, so to each their own!

Any Solo fanatics here recommend that I sell my m105 and purchase the latest m107? I can get it for $160 from a reputable seller on eBay. From what I gather, the m107 heats up quicker similar to the ceramic version, the stem fits better & no plastic/electronic smell. The only question that I need answered from those in the know - does it produce any noticeable difference in vape quality?

no you would be wasting your money. There is no difference in quality.

I am Vapor

OK, so I am totally getting the ceramic flaking issue with the M-104 from this video:

I have burnt off and cleaned out about 90% of the ceramic material and it appears that there is the regular Stainless Steel bowl underneath. However it still tastes bad to vape with and I am concerned about inhaling this.

I"m sure it's been posted, but is there a way to remove the rest of the ceramic material. If not, I just ordered a Davinci to back up my M-106 Solo.

Thanks for any input,
Vapor Thompson

no its mild steel bowl underneath. No idea as to how to remove it.

just email arizer and get warranty service and you will get a brand new M107 to replace your M104.

Wow, I guess it really does vary from person to person.

I've been reading up on all the diff. m10x models here - my last arizer solo was an early early m102 (with the flaking paint on the sides of the bowl), but there was NO weird odor whatsoever, and I found this to be the best tasting way to consume herbs (moreso than the MFLB, Volcano, DVB/SSV and PD I've tried). But more than taste, this vape was the only one that didn't make me cough and kick up my allergic rhinitis. Any sort of pollen getting on my throat makes it swell, I get irritated, I cough, etc. I got this reaction from the SSV/DBV surprisingly.. and also the volcano, and unsurprisingly the MFLB/PD. But the Arizer, I could hit all day around the clock, and it wouldn't give me a sore throat or allergic rhinitis. Using the omicron it is 100% oil and concentrates, so no allergic rhinitis for me, but it does give me a sore throat after a bit of use, and horribly bad breath for some reason - I'm thinking it might be the cart adding its own nychrome coating flavor.

Another thing to consider is cilia immotility. If you smoke or vape daily, your cilia *do* get paralyzed, and cannot move and wave freely. As a result, mucus (produced faster while vaping), cannot be moved upwards enough for air to get under it and push it out (this is why you cough and cough, but with no productive mucus coming out). Normally, the mucus containing all the dirt, pollen/allergens and stuff, is moved upwards by the cilia so that you can swallow it into your stomach and eliminate it. This doesn't happen if your cilia aren't working. I noticed my coughing spells got much worse after I added waking and baking to my repertoire, effectively making it so that I was only *not* smoking for about 8 hours while I slept (my daily tolerance break haha). With that, it wasn't enough for the cilia to recover and start moving on their own again, so I coughed more and more, my lungs and throat hurt, and it made vaping/smoking really unpleasant. It almost felt like I didn't get as high either, maybe my lungs weren't absorbing smoke as efficiently.

Anyways, sorry to get sidetracked. Back on the market now - I'm planning on ordering the arizer solo from planetvape.ca - do they ship only the latest M107s, or should I expect a bit of luck of the draw to be at play?

planetvape is only selling M107, and they have awesome customer service, relatively fast shipping (for being in Canada) and are the only source for the custom solo glass stems at the moment (gong, stealth etc..) I give them a huge thumbs up.

hello i think irritation problems are caused mostly by a compound that forms at high temperatures expecially with herbs,so with concentrates you can use more heating without this problem.
This appens because the green parts in your herbs could over heat expecially, if you use too much heating up beyond the 185-190c,if you not grind well ,if your medicine is not flushed propely or moist,if your vaporizer do not give a temp-uniform airflow.
Water filtration add moistness but mainly remove this compound.
Smoking sometimes could be smoother because a big part of this compound burns .But obviously correct vaporization is safer.
This is only my theory,i don't know which chemical compound is it. but I think it is real .do you know it? what do you think about?

@Ganjafly: I think you may be on to something. My allergic rhinitis flares up *way* worse when I vaporize - when I take a bong hit or even a straight puff off of a joint, my throat is fine. Some of us are very sensitive to this compound, but most of us aren't, which makes it really hard to get to the bottom of..

Cool, PlanetVape.ca has the Solo stealth adapter so you can make the Carl's Jr. Cup mod from way earlier in this thread.

jambandphan - any chance you can post a photo of your set up? Looks interesting.

I'm waiting on the disk from tintest and the glass on glass adaptor from Planetvape to direct connect to my Zob bubbler. If the disk solves the hard draw issue, I'll be one happy vapin' man.

do you know where to buy pre-made battery packs for the solo?
Mine lasts only for about 9-10 cycles at level3 :(

I'm not able to solder the batteries myself and sending my Solo to Arizer is not an option, because I live in Europe...
