Loving my original Solo. I've had it for 1 year now and it was my most used vape over the last christmas period. Solo with the glass water adapter connected to my glass rig. Works a treat.

I had a choice between buying a Solo 1 and Solo 2. I chose the Solo 1 because I've loved the look of it with those runway lights at the front and it looked like a solid, well built vape. Along with the reading the great reviews for years.

I have not shown the solo some love (or this thread) in a good while.
Recently I got hung up using my new toy.. a great vaporizer. I do know though that different delivery systems
will provide different effects.
I have not used my OG Solo for too long (weeks!)
I saw a picture of myself sitting outside, enjoying the weather and my Solo.
It made me want to do a session immediately (almost anything is a reason to vape!)
I really got well medicated on a single stem.
Same strain I had been using all morning, in the SSV and then in the Tafée Bowle.
It was different and new.
Use your Solo!
Love the Solo!
It'll love you back!

Right now the OG Solo is so cheap it's a no-brainer. It's built like a tank, with a curved stem it's quite awesome and it still a beast through water. Great home vape if you don't want a desktop unit.

Why o why'd ja leave me?
For five years we shared so sweetly

Though many a glass was broken still we continued our toking
True your bottom plate was missing and batteries barely working
Plugged into the wall onward you soldiered dear Solo vaping
But time ultimately speaking you stopped completely me leaving

Fully a full year has now past since my wife, a beautiful lass
From visiting the States did return bringing my new Solo and glass
To this civilized land around, were Solo and Lass and I are found

Anyone got a link for that replacement battery for the OGSolo? I know it’s here somewhere but can’t find it.

You mean this one?

Be advised, that while they claim Solo II performance (3400 mAh) the one I got is really 'only' 2200 by actual test, a replacement for Solo I. But it does that function well.

my old M13A just shit the bed. well actually the batteries died a couple of years ago. i have been using the charging adapter to use it like a plug in. well the adapter finally failed. so i either need a new battery and adapter for my M13A, or get a new one. does anyone have a battery replacement they recommend? also not sure if the new charging cable will work with my older unit. i may have to buy a new one. any recommendations?

Based on very limited testing, I can recommend these guys:

Yes, there should be no problem with using either charger with your older unit, The Solo II version is just capable of a bit more current, which the older Solos can't use anyway. I'd try it with a new battery pack before I decided to replace it, though, as the charger alone doesn't have the steam to run a Solo alone, it needs a battery with at least a bit of capacity left. It's seriously under powered, heat up needs about 3 times the power the charger circuit can deliver 'barefoot'. Once at temperature this still hold true but the battery can recharge some more when heating the cup isn't called for.

Good luck.

thank you! ordered the battery pack you linked, a new charger, and a couple new stems. so it has been so long since i have charged my solo, i totally forgot what lights were supposed to come on when you do. basically when i plug my power adapter into my solo, the idle light flashes blue once, then the #7 setting flashes orange once, then the idle light (blue) and the charge light (red) light up and stay solid. and nothing else happens. i can set the temp and use as normal like this, while plugged in, but the battery will not take a charge. that is why i have been using it like a plug in vape. the charge light never flashes green at all.

so because you said the charger alone (mine is the OG stock charger) isn't enough to operate the vape, i am now wondering if its not an issue with the battery. i am hoping that i do not also have a damaged board inside there. my plan is to replace the battery pack and charger and see if that fixes the issue. but since i cant even get the charge light to flash green at all, im wondering if a new battery pack will help at all. we will see.

oh and i saw some talk about "resetting" the solo so i thought id give it a shot. they suggested to plug it in, hold the up/down buttons for 4 secs, then unplug it for 10 secs, then plug it back in. this did not work to fix the non charging issues. i was hoping to at least get it to hold a charge long enough to know its still operating properly. to no avail. the charge light only lights up a solid red.

if i do have to replace this vape, would an Air 2 be a suitable replacement? i much prefer the idea of swapping out cells vs charging cables, as i do that already with portable oil rigs, but if the Air 2s performance isnt near a solo performance then ill get solo 2.

tl;dr Check the voltage of your wall wart output plug

With 8.5V DC input, early model Solos had a "pass through heating" mode - it heats and works normally but powered by the wall wart with minimal drain on the battery but no charging either. If that's what's happening, IMHO your solo is a keeper because that mode gives it additional grunt over the battery alone. It only works when the battery is at least slightly charged - won't work at all without the battery or if the battery is completely toast. Note that it won't charge unless you feed it 12v DC which is what the original solo wall wart supplies.

I have a couple of that model - M1A in my case and I have both 12v and 8.5v wall warts to either charge them or use them as desktops!!

Arizer removed pass through mode and replaced it with the stupid charge (and wreck your battery quickly!) while vaping mode - probably because the Solo with pass through is very close to the EQ and they did not want it eating into desk top sales.
I would be very pleased if they ever re-introduced pass through mode because it is an absolute beast when plugged in - much more power than when running on the battery.

ahhhh that is exactly what is happening. the charger is 8.5V. this is what came with my Solo. i do not remember there being two charging cables. pretty sure this was the charger i used to charge it with too, but i could be wrong. maybe i do have a 12V charger around here somewhere.

this thing, when plugged in using this passthrough mode is, like you said, a beast. i have always loved this device. the new charger i bought is 12V. and unfortunately this 8.5V charger i have is falling apart. and it keeps failing. so i suppose if i want to use this device as i have been, ill need a new 8.5V cable too. do you know of any replacements out there? thank you!

I did find an 8.5v 50W wall wart on ebay a couple of years ago but not since. There are variable 0-12V wall warts on amazon or ebay - they have a knob and a digital voltage read out. I have one of those and I can run pass through beast mode at 8.5v or wind it up to 12v and charge. Best of both worlds. I had to take my solo to the electronics store to get the right sized plug to fit it and then do some surgery, soldering and insulating - only at the 12v end so not really dangerous but you will need a smaller plug to fit the Solo and be careful with polarity - it matters a lot.
I just got a new 12v variable wall wart with my beautiful new walnut underdog log vape :)
Arizer sold the 8.5v adapter separately - AFAIK Solos always came with a small 12v wall wart in the box.
For the record, these old M1A solos are really worth trying in pass through mode if you are lucky enough to own one. Like an EQ with a smaller bowl :)

My five year-old first Solo's soul slipped silently away, may its memory be for a blessing.
I am so alone, soltero, solo ....
OK, so actually I am not alone but rather delighted to live with my wife in Uruguay.
My 2nd 1st Solo has been soldiering on over a year since she brought it from the states to Uruguay.

Nothing beats a Solo glass for fine function and fast cleanup.
BTW, does anyone remember 'turbo or vortex stems'?
I bought a long one years ago and left it ignored for near three years.
Last week I put it back in use and wonder why I did not like it then.
I have been alternating using it and a standard stem in my Solo and in my new Tera. A Solo stem fits a Tera as though designed for the purpose.
Curiously I have acquired one stem (Chinese?) that is a tab too wide to fit in either the Solo or the Tera oven.

The PVHES? I wish I had some of the those ones with the shorter bowl, I find even with a screen reducing the bowl to half the size, it's still large enough to sip on for an entire session or more.

I have an Air and strangely I never really liked this vape as I always tried to inhale too hard and found it displeasurable, but I pulled it out recently on a whim and just inhale as gently as possible now, and get mesmerized watching the vapor spiral out of the holes in the glass screen.

Could someone please post a link where’s the cheapest place to get a gasket? (For loose stem fix.) I don’t want to pay ten bucks for a 100 pack, or whatever.

Now try getting the silicone high-heat O-rings in Uruguay. Do I go to the rubber-products neighborhood, the auto-parts district or look for a gaskets and seals seller behind a barraca?

I supposedly have twenty o-rings (2 sizes) coming from eBay, but as tracking shows them still bouncing around China after a full month, I am thinking I will need to order from the States.

Ten 75 durometer for $6.25 with free US shipping from https://www.ebay.com/usr/oringsandmore, go here for listing details
I ordered some 20 mm O.D. red silicone O-rings with 3mm cross -section (14 mm I.D.) and also ordered 20 mm O.D. ,2.5 mm cross-section, (15mm I.D.) A diligent eBay search may turn up a US source better for you for buying fewer.

My variously sourced Solo stems vary slightly in diameter between 14+ and 15- mm; some are OEM and others from China at various times.
These O-rings will also work to hold my Solo stems in my Boundless Tera (a fine convection heater for Solo stems.)

When I had a similar problem on the OG Solo I used some heatproof, food safe silicon sealer to add some grip dots to the original o-rings. Good Luck
Edit: Just checked the OG the dots are still there and working a couple of years later
